Weta Digital Begins Work on Avatar Sequels, Cameron Teases Further Innovation

Fresh off of their latest triumphant work, War for the Planet of the Apes, Weta Digital has announced (via Variety) they’ve officially begun work on the upcoming four sequels to James Cameron’s Avatar.

“What Joe Letteri and Weta Digital bring to these stories is impossible to quantify,” Cameron said. “Since we made Avatar, Weta continued to prove themselves as doing the best CG animation, the most human, the most alive, the most photo-realistic effects in the world..and of course, that now means I can push them to take it even further.”

Arnold Schwarzenegger Confirms “I’ll Be Back” in the Next TERMINATOR Movie

Good news for Terminator fans, Arnold Schwarzenegger says he will once again play the cybernetic killing machine. In a recent interview with Screen Daily, Schwarzenegger confirmed that he will star in a new Terminator film produced by James Cameron.

“It is moving forward. He [Cameron] has some good ideas of how to continue with the franchise,” the actor added, “I will be in the movie.”

This is exciting news because Cameron has not been involved in any Terminator films since Terminator 2: Judgement Day and we all know everything after T2 was somewhat disappointing. It’s going to be interesting to see how this develops because Cameron is slightly busy working on the next four Avatar sequel films. It was previously revealed that Deadpool director Tim Miller would be working with Cameron on developing the new film.

What do you think about Cameron and Schwarzenegger teaming up once again? Is late better than never?

Top 10 Directors

Filmography matters; but the more important considerations that we made to come up with this list were: Is the director at top of his or her game ? Is his/her next movie waited by critics and audiences alike? And does he/she have the ability to experiment and improve the horizons of cinema? Therefore, you will observe, a Steven Spielberg or even Woody Allen, who have the best filmography among all in the list, figure lower in comparison to someone like Scorsese or David Fincher who are still at the top of his game and are not shy to take the risks. Overall, the shortest way possible to summarize the method we utilized to rank down the list is asking this question to ourselves, “Who are the top directors in Hollywood?”

James Cameron Announces Four Avatar Sequels and Reveals Logo

During 20th Century Fox’s CinemaCon presentation, James Cameron offered an update on his Avatar franchise, and announced that he is now going to make four Avatar sequels. Now we have an idea why James Cameron has continued to delay his Avatar sequels. The last we heard there was only three, I imagine next year he’ll announce four more – just to tie Star Wars. I’m convinced that Cameron will be making these Avatar films throughout the rest of his career. So much for a live-action Battle Angel anytime soon.

Cameron revealed that the sequels are being created as films that will stand on their own so they will tell individual stories that, together, will “form a complete saga”. Continue reading
