New newest installment of the 31-year old sci-fi action franchise Predator is now in theaters, but does The Predator improve on the highly popular movies, or will the latest alien hunter movie leave fans wanting more?
I was not a big fan of the way that The Predator ended. It was laughably bad. The original ended that was written would have been much better because it would have brought back Arnold Schwarzenegger’s character from the first film, Dutch. Unfortunately, it the role was too small for Schwarzenegger, so he passed on it, which was a bummer. Thanks to Birth Movies Death, we have some details on how that original ending would have played out. But first, I want to talk about the ending we see in the movie:
20th Century Fox and filmmaker Shane Black are working hard to deliver The Predator in fighting shape, delaying its release from February to September in order to carry out reportedly extensive reshoots. Now co-star Keegan-Michael Key has told CinemaBlend just how extensive those reshoots are: The filmmakers behind The Predator reshot nearly the entire third act of the film!
“We just finished [reshoots] last week, and just about three-quarters of the third act was rewritten,” confirms Key. “And Shane Black is… he’s just a consummate professional, and a consummate writer. He’s a wordsmith! It was a really, really exhilarating experience, and I think that he’s still one of our most vibrant writers of cinema.”
Everyone seems to be excited for Shane Black’s upcoming Predator sequel. And who wouldn’t be? If you consider Black’s history, especially with the Predator franchise, it makes a lot of sense that this could be the film to bring the series back to stardom.
Unfortunately, it looks like the original film’s star, Arnold Schwarzenegger, is unhappy with Black’s sequel – and won’t be a part of it.
In an interview with Yahoo Movies, the actor had this to say:
Uh oh. Arnold Schwarzenegger has read the script for Shane Black‘s The Predator and he says he didn’t like it! There was a part for him in the film but after reading the script he decided to not be a part of it. While talking to Yahoo! about the film he said:
“They asked me, and I read it, and I didn’t like it, whatever they offered. So I’m not going to do that, no. Except if there’s a chance that they rewrite it, or make it a more significant role. But the way it is now, no, I won’t do that.”
We have another kick-ass list for you this time around! What is it about guns that we love so much? Who knows, but they’re cool as hell! Here’s a list of films that celebrate our love for guns, action and violence. These films make gunplay into an art form, which has now been given the name “gun-fu”. Are any of these your favorites? Let’s take a look at our lists, and see if any match up with yours. And there will be blood…. Continue reading →
