With the recent cancellations of the Netflix Marvel shows Iron Fist and Luke Cage, some fans have been worried that Daredevil or Jessica Jones could be next. Well, according to a report from Business Insider, there are signs that these shows could be in trouble.

I mean, it’s really only a matter of time before Daredevil and Jessica Jones come to an end, but this report makes it seem like it could happen sooner rather than later.

‘Luke Cage’ Canceled by Netflix

Netflix has canceled “Luke Cage.”

News of the cancellation comes four months after the superhero action drama from Marvel Television debuted its second season on the streaming service — and just days after Netflix pulled the plug on another Marvel show, “Iron Fist.”

“Unfortunately, ‘Marvel’s Luke Cage’ will not return for a third season. Everyone at Marvel Television and Netflix is grateful to the dedicated showrunner, writers, cast and crew who brought Harlem’s Hero to life for the past two seasons, and to all the fans who have supported the series,” Netflix and Marvel Television said in a joint statement.

VENOM Gets PG-13 Rating and May End Up Breaking Box Office Records

Well, Venom is officially rated PG-13. It’s not really that surprising to hear, but fans were hoping that maybe it would get the R-rating. After all, director Ruben Fleischer kept teasing the dark and violent tone of the film. When previously asked about the possibility of an R-rating, he said:

“That’s the plan. It is not the plan, that’s the movie. Our movie wants to honor the comics as close as we can tonally. In the comics, he bites people’s heads off and eats brains. It would be weird to make a movie with Venom if he wasn’t doing that. We tried to honor it as closely as possible. This is definitely a darker, more violent, more vicious Marvel character than I think anyone’s ever seen before.”

Warner Bros. Has Reportedly Approached James Gunn About Directing a DC Film

warner-bros-has-reportedly-approached-james-gunn-about-directing-a-dc-film-social.jpg

Yesterday we learned that director James Gunn was negotiating his possible exit as the director of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. It’s said his script will be used for the film and that there’s a chance he could come back to direct a future Marvel movie in the event they officially don’t bring him back to direct Vol. 3.

It’s also being reported that Gunn has been approached by several top producers and executives in Hollywood to write and direct a number of big film projects that the studios are looking to develop. They are excited to work with Gunn! One studio executive said:

“Most people feel his comments were coming out of his brand of comedy [at the time he made them]. Having an inappropriate sense of humor shouldn’t be a crime.”

One of the studios looking to hire Gunn is said to be Warner Bros. They would love to get him on board to direct one of their DC film properties! As of right now, though, Gunn is unable to entertain any offers until the “Disney matter is 100 percent resolved.”

It will certainly be interesting to see how this all plays out and what is store for Gunn’s future. But Marvel’s loss could be DC’s gain. Would you like to see Gunn direct a DC film? If so, which character or characters would you want to see him play with?

New Study Explains Why Fans Prefer Marvel Films Over DC Films

That’s right! An official study was conducted to try and explain why more fans prefer Marvel films over DC films. The study was done by an automated market research tech provider named ZappiStore. They say that the success of Marvel can be linked to the viewer’s emotional engagement with the superheroes while watching movie trailers.

What ZappiStore did was test a viewer’s emotional engagement with a series of Marvel and DC movie trailers by using a facial coding and emotion recognition platform called Affectiva. According to ADWEEK:

The respondents participating in the Marvel/DC study, and others like it, only need internet connectivity and a standard web camera. As viewers watch stimulus, Affectiva can measure their moment-by-moment facial expressions of emotions. The results for this study were aggregated and displayed in a dashboard.

They tested these people using a number of DC and Marvel movie trailers to measure viewer emotional engagement to find out which elements of the trailers impacted them most.

Sebastian Stan Says Hugh Jackman Has Been Thinking About Coming Back as Wolverine For Marvel

So look, we all know that Hugh Jackman said he was completely dine with playing Wolverine after Logan. As hard as it was to hear that we’d never see Jackman play Wolverine again, Jackman ended his time as Wolverine on a high note. Logan was incredible and if he never plays Wolverine again at least he ended it with, in my opinion, his greatest performance ever.

Well, it sounds like Jackman might actually be thinking about coming back now that Marvel and Fox have joined forces and we will see the X-Men finally crossover with the Avengers. The information came from MCU star Sebastian Stan during a panel at Ace Comic Con. While there, he shared a story of how he asked Hugh Jackman about the possibility of returning. Here’s what Stan had to say:

As we all might imagine and based on what we’ve seen in the trailer, there is no doubt that Avengers: Infinity War is going to be unlike any other movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with characters from all corners of the MCU uniting.  Now one of the actors who plays one of the most important characters, Chris Hemsworth is giving us a good idea of just how many to expect.

In a recent interview with Postmedia Network,  Hemsworth teased just how massive Infinity War will be, with over 70 characters appearing throughout the film in one way or another.

The Badass Trailer For Marvel’s JESSICA JONES Season 2 Has Arrived!

Netflix has released the first trailer for Marvel’s Jessica Jones Season 2! They also announced that the 13-episode season will premiere on March 8th, 2018!

I loved the first season of this show and Season 2 looks like it might turn out even better. This is a great adrenaline-fueled first trailer and Season 2 looks awesome! In the trailer, Jessica even calls out Spider-Man’s Uncle Ben in an amusing way. She obviously just doesn’t give a crap about the whole “with great power comes great responsibility” advice. She just wants to beat the hell out of anyone that deserves it.

Marvel’s Jessica Jones is a suspenseful, edgy look into the life of Jessica Jones, one of the most popular new Marvel characters of the last decade, as she faces demons from within and without. In its first season.

New York City private investigator Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter) is beginning to put her life back together after murdering her tormenter, Kilgrave. Now known throughout the city as a super-powered killer, a new case makes her reluctantly confront who she really is while digging deeper into her past to explore the reasons why.

Marvel’s Netflix Deal is Coming To an End and Future Shows Will Be Developed For Disney’s Streaming Service

Well, as much as I don’t want to subscribe to another stupid streaming service, it seems like Disney is going to make me. We already knew that Disney would be killing off their deal with Netflix and Hulu and that all of their films and TV shows, including all of the Star Wars and Marvel stuff, will exclusively stream on their upcoming streaming service.

Now, it seems like any future Marvel series that would normally be developed and streamed on Netflix will be moving to the Disney streaming service in the future. I know this was a safe assumption, but hearing confirmation of their plan for it in the Wall Street Journal was still a little jarring.

Marvel Has Released A New Look At Evangeline Lilly’s Wasp Costume For ‘Ant-Man And The Wasp’

Marvel Entertainment

Marvel Studios has a lot on their plate in the next few years. The company will be expanding its cinematic universe to Wakanda in Black Panther, introducing Captain Marvel, and wrapping up the Avengers storyline in Infinity War. Somewhere in the midst of all this will be Ant-Man and the Wasp, the sequel to the 2015 film Ant-Man. I say “somewhere” because while the official release date is July 6, 2018, as of this writing the film isn’t even on Marvel’s official list of upcoming MCU projects. But Evangeline Lilly has been all over Instagram with her #WaspWorkout, so we know principal photography will soon be under way, if it hasn’t begun already.
