Ben Affleck Still Wants to Direct a Batman Movie!

It doesn’t sound like Ben Affleck wants to give up on Batman. in fact, during a recent interview, he talks about why he likes his version of Batman and says that he still wants to direct a Batman movie!

While talking to DailySabah about the character and his future with the DC film franchise, he said:

“I like this version of Batman a lot. It was a lot to carry around the danger of being angry and resentful of Superman the whole time, which led to a darker tone. And with this one, Batman is not a Joker and is not as funny, but is hilarious, as the straight man to Flash and other people. That’s a nice dynamic to get to play off of somebody and have a little bit more irony and have a little bit more self-awareness, a little bit more fun with the movie. That was great.”

He went on to talk about Bruce Wayn

Michael Keaton Explains Why He Walked Away From The BATMAN Franchise

In many ways, Michael Keaton can be credited for the massive resurgence of Batman, for some fans he stands as their definitive Batman. Back in 1989, Keaton donned the hero’s cowl under Tim Burton’s direction, but he did not give the hero a third installment of the “Bat-chise.” Now, the star is speaking out on why he left Batman behind him.

In a recent interview with The Guardian, Keaton explained why he didn’t return for a third Batman film, and Keaton said his decision boiled down to the movie not being any good.

“[The film] just wasn’t any good, man. I tried to be patient, but after a certain point, I was like, I can’t take this any more, this is going to be horrible.”

“There was some really horrible taste in the 90s, and I probably contributed to that, unfortunately. It was a time of nouveau riche excess – everyone was known for their jets and their stuff. And I thought, I’m in this job for the long run, I don’t want this. And the truth is, I’m not boasting, but I was correct. There are a whole load of people who ran things that are long gone.”

Since Keaton walked away a long list of big Hollywood names have played the caped crusader. Val Kilmer,  George Clooney [and his nipples] had brief stints as the hero before stars like Christian Bale and Ben Affleck swore to protect Gotham. Affleck will soon reprise the iconic role in DC’s upcoming Justice League this November.

Ben Affleck Confirms He’s Not Leaving The Batman Role and He’s Excited to Work with Matt Reeves

Yesterday a rumor surfaced that Ben Affleck‘s Batman would be gracefully ushered out of the DCEU. Well, that rumor is false. Affleck confirmed today during the Justice League panel at Comic-Con that he is not leaving the Batman role. In fact, he’s thrilled to be a part of it and he’s excited to work with director Matt Reeves on The Batman. He said:

“I am the luckiest guy in the world. Batman is the coolest part in any universe, Marvel DC, anything–I’m so thrilled to do it. Its fucking amazing. I still can’t believe it. Everyone at the studio tells me I’m their Batman and I believe it. And Matt Reeves? I’d be an ape on the ground for Matt Reeves. Im blown away and its an exciting time in the DC Universe. I’m excited to be Batman.”

That doesn’t sound like the kind of guy who plans on leaving the role of Batman anytime soon. He’s stoked to be a part it! I’m glad he’s not leaving. I actually really enjoy Affleck in the role of Batman and it’s great to know that this iteration of the character will continue to be explored in future films.

Ben Affleck Reportedly Doesn’t Want to Play Batman Anymore

Image result for ben affleck batmanA month ago, while promoting his passion project Live by Night — which he directed, wrote, produced, and starred in — on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Ben Affleck confirmed that he would be directing The Batman, his first standalone film as the Caped Crusader.

However, after Live by Night bombed at the box office — causing a $75 million loss for Warner Bros. — Affleck reportedly experienced a crisis of confidence, questioning whether or not he could simultaneously direct and star in a big-budget superhero movie. In the end, he chose to step down as director of The Batman, citing his desire to focus on the acting side of the role. And according to recent reports, Matt Reeves, the director behind Cloverfield (2008) and Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes (2014), will take the helm.

While many of us had hoped that would put an end to all the drama surrounding The Batman, John Campea is now claiming that three separate sources have told him over the past four days that Affleck no longer wants to be The Dark Knight in the DCEU. Continue reading

Ben Affleck Puts Batman Directing Doubts to Rest

It seemed like a sure thing that Ben Affleck was scheduled to write, direct and star in a new solo Batman movie, but a recent interview with The Guardian in which he stated “It’s not a set thing and there’s no script” have put the status of the project into question. Further rumors of filming being pushed back from a spring date to sometime in the summer have Bat-fans worried their winged crusader will not take flight, but a new TV interview with Jimmy Kimmel Live! has set the record straight. Deathstroke Actor Joe Manganiello Explains Why Fans Are Going to Love Ben Affleck’s THE BATMAN

Image result for batman

There’s been some of negativity surrounding Ben Affleck’s upcoming new Batman film because of a rumor stating that the script has some “serious issues” and that the studio doesn’t care because the movie is going to make money anyway. That’s a terrible mentality to have, but I seriously doubt Affleck shares those beliefs because the guy only makes quality movies that he believes in, and I don’t think he is going to make a shitty Batman film.

Deathstroke actor Joe Manganiello was recently a guest on former pro wrestling announcer Mark Madden’s podcast and talked a little bit about Affleck’s take on the Dark Knight and why fans are going to love it. Continue reading

Fans will still need to wonder if Deathstroke the Terminator will be appearing in a small role in Justice League, or if a rumored role as the main adversary in Ben Affleck’s solo Batman movie, but DC Films boss Geoff Johns himself has now spilled most of the beans.
