Thomas Wayne Will Be Played By Brett Cullen in DC’s JOKER

Actor Brett Cullen has replaced Alec Baldwin in the role of Thomas Wayne, the father of Bruce Wayne, in DC Entertainment’s Joker. Cullen previously played a Congressman in Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises, so this isn’t his first Batman movie rodeo. He seems like a decent choice for the role. I like the thought of him in the role more than Baldwin. That was just alittle too weird.

Cullen joins Joaquin Phoenix in the title role, who we recently got our first look at in the film. He also joins Robert De NiroFrances ConroyMarc Maron, and Zazie Beetz. De Niro will play a reporter; Beetz will play a single mother who catches the attention of the Joker prior to his transformation the villain; and Conroy will play Joker’s mother, Penny.

New Study Explains Why Fans Prefer Marvel Films Over DC Films

new-study-explains-why-fans-prefer-marvel-films-over-dc-films-social.jpg

That’s right! An official study was conducted to try and explain why more fans prefer Marvel films over DC films. The study was done by an automated market research tech provider named ZappiStore. They say that the success of Marvel can be linked to the viewer’s emotional engagement with the superheroes while watching movie trailers.

What ZappiStore did was test a viewer’s emotional engagement with a series of Marvel and DC movie trailers by using a facial coding and emotion recognition platform called Affectiva. According to ADWEEK:

The respondents participating in the Marvel/DC study, and others like it, only need internet connectivity and a standard web camera. As viewers watch stimulus, Affectiva can measure their moment-by-moment facial expressions of emotions. The results for this study were aggregated and displayed in a dashboard.

They tested these people using a number of DC and Marvel movie trailers to measure viewer emotional engagement to find out which elements of the trailers impacted them most.

FLASHPOINT Will Be Directed By SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING Writers John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein

Well, Warner Bros. has finally officially hired a couple of directors to take on the DC film Flashpoint. The screenwriting duo behind Spider-Man: Homecoming, John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein, have crossed over to DC Entertainment to take on the challenge, and that could be great!

The two previously directed Vacation and the upcoming film Game Night, which looks hilarious. I’ll admit, I was really hoping that Robert Zemeckis would do it, but obviously, things didn’t work out that way. I think Daley and Goldstein could end up doing a good job, though. We’ll just ahve to wait and see. After all, this will be their biggest directing project to date.

Brenton Thwaites (The GiverPirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales) has been cast in the role of Dick Grayson a.k.a. Robin in the upcoming live-action DC series Titans. He’s a pretty talented young actor and I didn’t expect an actor like him to end up in the role as he’s been in a bunch of big movies. This will be his first TV gig.

Frank Miller Announces SUPERMAN: YEAR ONE, Giving Him a Real Meaningful Crack at Superman

Comic book writer and artist Frank Miller redefined Batman with Batman: Year One and The Dark Knight Returns just announced he’s developing Superman: Year One. Like his Batman comics, I imagine this could redefine the character Superman, which is actually kind of fascinating.

During a recent interview with Vulture, Miller opened up a little bit about his new project and reveals that he will retell the Superman origin story… in his own way, of course.
