Frank Miller Announces SUPERMAN: YEAR ONE, Giving Him a Real Meaningful Crack at Superman

Comic book writer and artist Frank Miller redefined Batman with Batman: Year One and The Dark Knight Returns just announced he’s developing Superman: Year One. Like his Batman comics, I imagine this could redefine the character Superman, which is actually kind of fascinating.

During a recent interview with Vulture, Miller opened up a little bit about his new project and reveals that he will retell the Superman origin story… in his own way, of course.

Frank Miller Wants to Write a Superman Comic Where Batman Is the Villain

It doesn’t seem like Frank Miller is going to be finished with writing stories for Batman and Superman anytime soon. A few weeks ago he revealed that he was planning to write Dark Knight IV. We now have another story idea for these two characters that he’d like to tell. The news came from Bleeding Cool, who offered the following information on what Miller said: Continue reading

Frank Miller Will Write DARK KNIGHT IV and Wants a Carrie Kelley Spinoff

It looks like Dark Knight III: The Master Race won’t be the last story in the Frank Miller saga. In a recent interview, he revealed that he will also write Dark Knight IV.

The Master Race is being written by Brian Azzarello, but Miller says that the fourth chapter in the saga will come from his own hand. While talking to Newsarama Miller said:

“I thoroughly applaud what [Brian’s] doing. But now that he’s doing his, it’s now a four-part series, I’m doing the fourth.”

Miller went on to explain that he is aware of Azzarello’s story, and he told the site that he supported it. However, “he said that after he reads DK3 in full, he intends to create his own fourth chapter.” It’s this fourth chapter that will presumably close out the saga. Continue reading

EXCLUSIVE: DC Collectibles, Frank Miller’s Dark Knight BUST

Next year, Frank Miller’s THE DARK KNIGHT RETURNS celebrates its 30th Anniversary. Yes, it’s been three decades since we first met Carrie Kelley and Commissioner Yindel and watched Batman grapple in the grime with the Mutant Leader. With a new Dark Knight miniseries about to hit the stands, we’re certainly not letting this milestone pass unobserved and our cohorts in DC Collectibles are excited to get in on the fun.

DC Collectibles will be releasing two impressive new collectibles drawn from the world of Frank Miller’s iconic story in 2016, starting with a new Batman bust based on Miller’s art. The wrinkled cowl, the scowl and stubble… it’s all there! Sculpted by Alterton, the BATMAN: THE DARK KNIGHT RETURNS BUST will be available February, 2016.

Why The World Needs To See Batman In A Rated R Movie

Cinema has done a fine job presenting Batman in a way that is enjoyable for all audiences. West showed us the man with morals, Keaton showed us the hero, Kilmer showed us the bizarre, Clooney showed us everyone makes mistakes, and Bale showed us The Dark Knight in a real world. With each performance, a mainstream audience got a different feel for Batman, and each (well, most, anyway) succeeded in giving the world all sides of Batman…

…save one.

What happens when Batman doesn’t just “not save the day,” but allows for horrible things to happen? Sure, we saw Rachel Dawes blow up in The Dark Knight…but considering that was the work of The Joker, that was a fairly painless and quick death than what comic book readers have experienced. What happens when The Caped Crusader truly experiences something horrific? When his response is not to prevent, but rather to avenge? What happens when Batman breaks bad? Continue reading
