Actor Brett Cullen has replaced Alec Baldwin in the role of Thomas Wayne, the father of Bruce Wayne, in DC Entertainment’s Joker. Cullen previously played a Congressman in Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises, so this isn’t his first Batman movie rodeo. He seems like a decent choice for the role. I like the thought of him in the role more than Baldwin. That was just alittle too weird.
Cullen joins Joaquin Phoenix in the title role, who we recently got our first look at in the film. He also joins Robert De Niro, Frances Conroy, Marc Maron, and Zazie Beetz. De Niro will play a reporter; Beetz will play a single mother who catches the attention of the Joker prior to his transformation the villain; and Conroy will play Joker’s mother, Penny.
Last week we got our first look at Dick Grayson (Brenton Thwaites) coming face to face with Jason Todd (Curran Walters) in DC Universe’s upcoming series Titans. Now today we have a new promo spot for the series that focuses on the awkward moment where Batman’s new Robin introduces himself to the old Robin. And in case you’re wondering why Grayson says “Fuck Batman” in the first trailer, maybe it’s because he found out that Jason Todd actually gets to drive the Batmobile, which is apparently something he never got to do. Enjoy the clip!
Titans follows a group of young soon-to-be superheroes recruited from every corner of the DC Universe. In the action-adventure series, Dick Grayson emerges from the shadows to become the leader of a fearless band of new heroes that includes Starfire (Diop), Raven (Croft) and others.
Titans was created by Akiva Goldsman, and DC Entertainment’s Geoff Johns and Greg Berlanti. The series also stars Ryan Potter and Beast Boy, Teagan Croft as Raven, and Anna Diop as Star Fire. Titans will make its big debut on Friday, October 12th.
It doesn’t look like we’ll see Superman make an appearance in Shazam! like Warner Bros would have liked. However, we may know what that cameo would’ve been though. Umberto Gonzalez from The Wrap has reportedly explained the cameo thusly:
So, Superman would’ve been DC’s Nick Fury or Tony Stark. This sounds like a fun cameo to help tie Shazam into the Justice League some day. Would you have liked to see Supes show up in what looks like the most fun DC film?
Shazam! will hit theaters April 5, 2019.
Warner Bros. TV sets Titans world premiere for NYCC 2018
Warner Bros. Television kicks off New York Comic Con (NYCC) on Wednesday, October 3, with the world premiere screening of the live-action dramatic adventure series Titans, which launches October 12 as the first original series for the new DC UNIVERSE digital subscription service.
The exclusive debut screening will be followed by a Q&A session with series stars and executive producers, who will shed further light on the highly-anticipated first season. The star and producer sessions continue on Saturday, October 6, when the next generation of supernatural beings at The Salvatore School for the Young and Gifted takes fans inside Legacies, the thrilling next chapter in The Vampire Diaries/The Originals trilogy. The back-to-back Saturday panels will also feature the world premiere pilot screening of Roswell, New Mexico, followed by the action-packed season four premiere of Blindspot and a special video presentation of The 100. Fans will also get an inside look at the new series Manifest.
Yesterday we learned that director James Gunn was negotiating his possible exit as the director of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. It’s said his script will be used for the film and that there’s a chance he could come back to direct a future Marvel movie in the event they officially don’t bring him back to direct Vol. 3.
It’s also being reported that Gunn has been approached by several top producers and executives in Hollywood to write and direct a number of big film projects that the studios are looking to develop. They are excited to work with Gunn! One studio executive said:
“Most people feel his comments were coming out of his brand of comedy [at the time he made them]. Having an inappropriate sense of humor shouldn’t be a crime.”
One of the studios looking to hire Gunn is said to be Warner Bros. They would love to get him on board to direct one of their DC film properties! As of right now, though, Gunn is unable to entertain any offers until the “Disney matter is 100 percent resolved.”
It will certainly be interesting to see how this all plays out and what is store for Gunn’s future. But Marvel’s loss could be DC’s gain. Would you like to see Gunn direct a DC film? If so, which character or characters would you want to see him play with?
DC Universe experience will bring Titans, Doom Patrol, and more to SDCC.

If you don’t have 21 minutes to sit back and watch this film, save it for later and make time because this is one you’ll want to watch! Superman and Robocop take on Skynet in an insane adventure that feels like what would happen if Robot Chicken took itself seriously. Side note: I now want the Robot Chicken team to make a film with a scenario as crazy as this! If not DGDX Animation seems to be holding it down for the time being, so check out the video and give them some love!
