Thomas Wayne Will Be Played By Brett Cullen in DC’s JOKER

Actor Brett Cullen has replaced Alec Baldwin in the role of Thomas Wayne, the father of Bruce Wayne, in DC Entertainment’s Joker. Cullen previously played a Congressman in Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises, so this isn’t his first Batman movie rodeo. He seems like a decent choice for the role. I like the thought of him in the role more than Baldwin. That was just alittle too weird.

Cullen joins Joaquin Phoenix in the title role, who we recently got our first look at in the film. He also joins Robert De NiroFrances ConroyMarc Maron, and Zazie Beetz. De Niro will play a reporter; Beetz will play a single mother who catches the attention of the Joker prior to his transformation the villain; and Conroy will play Joker’s mother, Penny.

It was previously reported that Thomas Wayne would be a “cheesy, tanned and rich-looking” 60-year-old man in the film. We’ll just have to wait and see if that is an accurate description.

Todd Phillips is directing the film from a script he co-wrote with Scott Silver. The studio has described the story as being an “exploration of a man disregarded by society [that] is not only a gritty character study but also a broader cautionary tale.”

Joker is “meant to be different from other comic book superhero movies”. The story is also said to “delve into what it took for the Joker to become a mastermind criminal” and rumor has it that the film’s story will revolve around a Arthur Fleck, a failed comedian whose failures lead him into a life of crime.

Joker will be released on October 4th, 2019.
