Sony’s Animated ‘Spider-Man’ Movie To Star Miles Morales

Miles Morales will be the “star” of Sony’s upcoming Spider-Man animated movie. That’s the official confirmed news from Sony’s just-concluded animation presentation, a morning that also saw footage from The Emoji Movie and the next Smurfs movie (there are a lot more female Smurfs this time around). The big news is that, as hoped/rumored, Mr. Morales will be taking flight on the big screen as the would-be webslinger over Christmas weekend 2018 when the Bob Persichetti/Peter Ramsey-directed and Phil Lord/Chris Miller-executive produced animated adventure debuts. And it’s terrific news for several reasons. Continue reading

Variety is reporting that Robert Downey Jr. will reprise the role of Tony Stark in Sony and Marvel’s upcoming co-production of Spider-Man: Homecoming. The size of his role in this film has not been revealed yet, so Tony’s appearance could be anything from a cameo to a larger supporting role. At this point we’re unsure whether he’ll show up as just Tony Stark or if he’ll actually don the Iron Man armor and suit up to help Spidey battle a bad guy (or two). Continue reading

The Spider-Man Deal Between Marvel and Sony Still Isn’t Fully Solidified

The prevailing hypothesis for the reason that we haven’t seen Spider-Man in any of the marketing material for Captain America: Civil War was because they were trying to keep that aspect of the film a secret. Well, it turns out there’s a lot more to it than that.

During a Q&A with Collider, directors Joe and Anthony Russo revealed that all of the deals involving Spider-Man between Marvel and Sony Pictures still aren’t fully completed. I thought everything was squared away! Apparently that’s not the case, though. Continue reading

Animated GHOSTBUSTERS Feature Film in Development at Sony

Art by DanSchoening

Not only is Sony Pictures developing a couple of live-action Ghostbusters reboots, but according to The Tracking Board, the studio is also in the process of making an animated film. It’s actually a bit more exciting for me than the upcoming live-action film projects, though.
