Ivan Reitman Has Another Idea For a GHOSTBUSTERS Movie Based on the Comic Book

Comic Books have been a huge hit with films recently. We have so many movies based on comic books coming out. At the same time, we also have seen many comic books based on movies being released. One of those ideas comes from a Ghostbusters comic that Ivan Reitman is saying would make a good movie. It looks like everything is going full circle.

Ivan Reitman Says He’s Still Developing Multiple GHOSTBUSTERS Films for Sony Pictures

After director Paul Feig‘s Ghostbusters reboot crashed and burned, I wasn’t sure if Sony Pictures would still want to move forward with their plans of building up the franchise. According to original Ghostbusters director and producer Ivan Reitman, It doesn’t sound like they’ve given up on it yet. In fact, Reitman is actively developing these films for the studio.

When talking to io9 about a Ghostbusters VR experience they are developing, Reitman opened up about his thoughts on the reboot and where the franchise is headed:

“We certainly would’ve loved to have a larger hit. But considering the last film was almost 30 years ago, it really did extremely well. I think the film cost too much, frankly, and that’s the real issue. I personally had other points of view in terms of where the film should go and it was kind of a continuous conversation with Paul [Feig] about that. But Paul was the filmmaker on this one and he’s a very talented director. I wanted to give him enough room to do the film he thought it should be.”

As far as what they’ve got cooking up for future films in the franchise, Reitman immediately brought up the animated film that was announced back in 2015:

“We jumped into an animated film [after the last movie] and we are developing live-action films. I want to bring all these stories together as a universe that makes sense within itself. Part of my job right now is to do that.”

There’s no information on these new Ghostbusters films or when they will come out, but the producer hopes that the animated movie will be released in 2019-2020. He said:

“It depends on on how fast we can get it all together. It’s hard to make an animated film.”

I actually don’t mind the fact that Reitman and Sony are looking to develop more Ghostbusters movies. I just hope that next time around that actually make a great movie. Hell, they can even bring back all the female Ghostbusters if they want, I just hope they have a better sense of story and character development next time around. And of course, cut back on the silly slapstick comedy antics.

I believe that with the right talent involved there could be another great Ghostbusters film one day. The big question is, will they get the right talent on board when they decide to move forward with these projects.

New Ghostbusters Is Funnier & Scarier Than Original Says Biased Person Making a Cameo in Film

New Ghostbusters Is Funnier & Scarier Than Original Says Aykroyd

This should go over like a wheelbarrow full of lead-laced bricks. But shortly after original Ghostbusters star Ernie Hudson tweeted then deleted some disparaging remarks about this summer’s remake, co-creator of the franchise Dan Aykroyd stepped into shower praise on director Paul Feig’s hugely criticized summer blockbuster. Some are claiming that Sony is holding a gun to Danny’s head, demeaning that he speak highly of the movie on social media. Other’s are now slamming Aykroyd for his personal thoughts, just because they don’t mesh with the very loud critics coming out against the movie. We still have a month and a half left before we get to judge for ourselves. Continue reading

GHOSTBUSTERS Animated Film Scares Up a Director

Sony is going all-in on the Ghostbusters franchise, working with Ivan Reitman’s newly-formed Ghost Corps company to create a cinematic universe that encompasses Paul Feig’s upcoming reboot, a possible Channing Tatum film with Chris Pratt co-starring, and a bunch of other projects, too. One of those is an animated Ghostbusters movie, and now that film has found its director. Continue reading

Paul Feig’s new Ghostbusters has been a lightning rod of controversy ever since the female leads were announced, but hopefully by now the haters have had enough time to come to grips with the fact that women busting ghosts doesn’t require a penis. Animated GHOSTBUSTERS Feature Film in Development at Sony

Art by DanSchoening

Not only is Sony Pictures developing a couple of live-action Ghostbusters reboots, but according to The Tracking Board, the studio is also in the process of making an animated film. It’s actually a bit more exciting for me than the upcoming live-action film projects, though.

According to the report, the film will be an action-comedy that “will follow a similar logline to that of the 1984 original, in which a group of scientists team up to fight off ghosts, using gadgets and gizmos to capture the menacing ghouls who have invaded Manhattan.” Continue reading

Paul Feig Unveils First Official GHOSTBUSTERS Cast Photo

Earlier this morning, an unauthorized paparazzi shot of the ladies of Paul Feig’s Ghostbusters was making the rounds, so Feig did the right thing and went ahead and released an official shot of his cast in full costume.

Melissa McCarthy, Leslie Jones, Kristen Wiig, and Kate McKinnon look great in their updated outfits (and a much nicer Ecto-1 than the one we saw earlier this week). I know a lot of people are still angry that this movie is happening, but I have a feeling it’s going to be a lot of fun. Click here for much more on the new film, including images of the new proton packs, the Ecto-2, and more.

Ghostbusters arrives in theaters on July 22nd, 2016.
