New Study Explains Why Fans Prefer Marvel Films Over DC Films

new-study-explains-why-fans-prefer-marvel-films-over-dc-films-social.jpg

That’s right! An official study was conducted to try and explain why more fans prefer Marvel films over DC films. The study was done by an automated market research tech provider named ZappiStore. They say that the success of Marvel can be linked to the viewer’s emotional engagement with the superheroes while watching movie trailers.

What ZappiStore did was test a viewer’s emotional engagement with a series of Marvel and DC movie trailers by using a facial coding and emotion recognition platform called Affectiva. According to ADWEEK:

The respondents participating in the Marvel/DC study, and others like it, only need internet connectivity and a standard web camera. As viewers watch stimulus, Affectiva can measure their moment-by-moment facial expressions of emotions. The results for this study were aggregated and displayed in a dashboard.

They tested these people using a number of DC and Marvel movie trailers to measure viewer emotional engagement to find out which elements of the trailers impacted them most.

Hans Zimmer to Score X-Men: Dark Phoenix

Hans Zimmer to Score X-Men: Dark Phoenix

Hans Zimmer to score X-Men: Dark Phoenix

Following 2016’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, fan-favorite composter Hans Zimmer called it quits when it came to tights and capes. After composing the score for all three of Christopher Nolan’s Batman films, The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel, and co-scoring BvS with Junkie XL, he decided to hang up his cowl.

Now, however, it would seem that he’s breaking out the mask one more time and will provide the score for the upcoming X-Men: Dark Phoenix. While speaking on the Happy Sad Confused podcast (via Collider), star Evan Peters revealed the information (before realizing he perhaps should not have revealed it), saying:

“I think the film is gonna be incredible. Hans Zimmer’s scoring it—I don’t know if I was supposed to say that or not. Simon has surrounded himself with incredible people, and Simon knows this world better than anybody, so it was just cool to see him—he’s so happy and in his element in that world, and also being able to direct and guide everybody in this way. I was very happy for him and I think it’s gonna be great.”

“They return to that scene at the Circle K when Bill and Ted first meet themselves, only now they’re watching their younger selves and looking at the exuberance and joy that they had at that time in their lives. And they see Rufus, they see George Carlin…”

VENOM Rumor – Tom Holland’s Peter Parker Might Appear in the Film Not Spider-Man

venom-rumor-update-tom-hollands-peter-parker-might-appear-in-the-film-not-spider-man-social.jpg

As many of you have already read, a rumor recently surfaced regarding Spider-Man and how he would be appearing in Tom Hardy‘s upcoming Venom. Well, the source behind that rumor, Jon Schnepp, is now doubling down on his scoop, but there is a little change to it. He originally said:

“I’m gonna say it right here on this show, Spider-Man is gonna be in Venom. For the last couple months, we’ve been talking about Venom, we’ve been hearing about how Sony’s keeping it all separated. Spider-Man’s in the Marvel Cinematic Universe but every other character that’s in the Spider-Man universe is separate.”

Now in a recent episode of Collider Heroes, he remained confident that Tom Holland is going to be in the movie, but not as Spider-Man, this time he says he will show up just as Peter Parker. Here’s what he said:

Jabba The Hutt STAR WARS Spinoff Film in Development at Lucasfilm

theres-also-a-jabba-the-hutt-star-wars-spinoff-film-in-development-at-lucasfilm-social.jpg

Yesterday the big news hit that Lucasfilm was officially developing an Obi-Wan Kenobi film. This is something that a lot of fans were hoping were would see. It was also revealed that they were in talks with Billy Elliot director Stephen Daldry to direct it.

There was also a little piece of big news tucked away in an article by Variety that I hadn’t heard before. They say that on top of the Obi-Wan Kenobi movie and the Boba Fett movie that have been in development, they are also working on a Jabba The Hutt film!

I’ve never heard Jabba The Hutt being mentioned as a possible film before. The only time we’ve talked about the possibility of a Jabba The Hutt movie is when director Guillermo del Toro shared an idea that he had for it. When talking about it, he said:

“This is not real, this is me as a fat geek just geeking out and talking about it. I would do the sort of Godfather saga that Jabba the Hutt had to go through to gain control. One, because it’s the character that looks the most like me, and I like him. I love the idea of a Hutt type of mafia, a very complex coup. I just love the character.”

All I know is that I would love to watch a Jabba The Hutt Godfather-style gangster Star Wars movie! That would be amazing! You know what would be even more amazing!? If Del Toro actually came on board to direct it!

There’s no information on how far in development they are with the project, but a movie based on the underworld of the Star Wars universe, with Jabba The Hutt as the central figure could be pretty damn cool. What do you all think?

One Reason Why Lucasfilm Dropped The STAR WARS Extended Universe Was Because of Chewbacca

When Disney bought Lucasfilm and started on their journey to producing new Star Wars films, one of the first things they announced was that they would be ditching the Star Wars Extended Universe saying that none of it would be canon. This initially pissed a lot of fans off because the Extended Universe is full of great stories and characters.

There are actually many reasons why they decided to drop the Extended Universe and rebrand it into what is now called Star Wars Legends. Lucasfilm originally released a statement explaining why, but Star Wars Story Group member Leland Chee got a little more specific explaining that one reason came down to Chewbacca.

Why Chewbacca, you ask. Because Chewbacca was killed off in the Extended Universe and they wanted to play with that character in the films. While talking with SyFy.com, Chee, who also oversees The Holocron, which is basically Lucasfilm’s official version of Wookieepedia, had this to say:

FLASHPOINT Will Be Directed By SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING Writers John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein

Well, Warner Bros. has finally officially hired a couple of directors to take on the DC film Flashpoint. The screenwriting duo behind Spider-Man: Homecoming, John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein, have crossed over to DC Entertainment to take on the challenge, and that could be great!

The two previously directed Vacation and the upcoming film Game Night, which looks hilarious. I’ll admit, I was really hoping that Robert Zemeckis would do it, but obviously, things didn’t work out that way. I think Daley and Goldstein could end up doing a good job, though. We’ll just ahve to wait and see. After all, this will be their biggest directing project to date.
