There’s been some of negativity surrounding Ben Affleck’s upcoming new Batman film because of a rumor stating that the script has some “serious issues” and that the studio doesn’t care because the movie is going to make money anyway. That’s a terrible mentality to have, but I seriously doubt Affleck shares those beliefs because the guy only makes quality movies that he believes in, and I don’t think he is going to make a shitty Batman film.
Deathstroke actor Joe Manganiello was recently a guest on former pro wrestling announcer Mark Madden’s podcast and talked a little bit about Affleck’s take on the Dark Knight and why fans are going to love it.
“When I met Ben we sat down and we talked about, you know, the role. We talked about the movie. His take is a fresh take but I think the audience is going to be surprised. Because it’s a road that no one’s really gone down that’s completely integral to, you know, who Batman is. And I think it’s gonna be refreshing but at the same time completely familiar. But it’s going to take this franchise in a direction that I think A LOT of people are going to be really happy about. It’s going to be gritty and action packed and cerebral and all of those elements that people love about Batman.
“Ben’s a great director, man. I mean the last movie that man directed won best picture. He’s got an Oscar for writing. Like, this is all the components to go down as a… everything is lined up for a really really really great movie. Not only a superhero movie but just a great great movie.”
It’s not surprising to hear an actor talk up a movie that he’s going to star in. It’s not like he is going to come out and start bashing it, especially since it’s still in the development phase. But you know what? If any one of us got to sit down in a room with Ben Affleck and listen to him pitch us his vision of a Batman movie, we’d all be freakin’ excited about what he was saying! There’s no doubt that the guy has a great and exciting vision for The Batman, and I’d like to believe that he’ll deliver something that fans are going to love.
