Jennifer Lawrence Says X-Men: Apocalypse Will be Her Last Film in the Series

20th Century Fox certainly lucked out in nabbing Jennifer Lawrence for the X-Men series right before she achieved mega-stardom with the Hunger Games franchise and an Oscar-win for Silver Linings Playbook. X-Men: Days of Future Past took advantage of this by making her Mystique a pivotal character, although if a new interview with MTV is any indication Mystique will not be so front-and-center after the upcoming X-Men: Apocalypse. Alexandra Shipp, Sophie Turner and Tye Sheridan Join X-Men: Apocalypse!

X-Men: Apocalypse director Bryan Singer announced on his Twitter today that Alexandra Shipp will play Storm, Sophie Turner will play Jean Grey, and Tye Sheridan will play Cyclops in the May 27, 2016 release!
Shipp is known playing KT Rush on the show “House of Anubis” and for headlining Lifetime’s recent biopic “Aaliyah: The Princess of R&B,” Turner is known for her role as Sansa Stark on HBO’s “Game of Thrones,” and Sheridan has starred in The Tree of Life, Mud and Joe.
The trio is joining James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Oscar Isaac and Nicholas Hoult in X-Men: Apocalypse, which is scripted by Simon Kinberg from a treatment by Mike Dougherty, Dan Harris and Kinberg.

No Patrick Stewart or Ian McKellen for X-Men: Apocalypse

It’s not exactly a surprise given what we know so far about Bryan Singer’s upcoming X-Men: Apocalypse, but Patrick Stewart confirmed today that neither he nor Ian McKellen would be reprising their respective roles as Charles Xavier or Erik Lehnsherr in the forthcoming mutant ensemble.
“I was learning quite a lot more about it last night,” Stewart tells Larry King (via Yahoo! Movies), hinting that he’s still maintaining a close connection to the franchise. “It is going to be looking very much at the earlier lives of all our characters. And so I don’t think we’ll be making an appearance.”
Confirmed to star James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Oscar Isaac and Nicholas Hoult (with more names expected to be confirmed shortly), X-Men: Apocalypse is scripted by Simon Kinberg, Mike Dougherty and Dan Harris. Said to be the conclusion of a trilogy started with X-Men: First Class and continued with X-Men: Days of Future Past, cameras will start rolling on the next adventure in Montreal beginning April, 2015 for a May 27, 2016 release.
It was also recently reported that the new film is looking to cast younger versions of Jean Grey (Phoenix), Scott Summers (Cyclops) and Ororo Monroe (Storm).
