Oscar Isaac: X-Men: Apocalypse Costume Will Have “Robotic Technology”

Oscar Isaac (“Star Wars: The Force Awakens”) is playing the titular villain in 20th Century Fox’s X-Men: Apocalypse. While he is currently doing press to promote his latest film Alex Garland’s Ex-Machina he has fielded a few questions regarding Bryan Singer’s next X-Men film. This time he divulged a few details about his character’s costume.

“It’ll be a mix [of practical and digital],” Isaac tells Yahoo Movies. “I haven’t had a script so I haven’t had a chance to look through the script and see what the exact requirements are, but I think it’ll be a mixture of physical, aided with some robotic technology.”

In the comics, Apocalypse is usually illustrated as a gray-skinned (sometimes flesh-colored) and blue-lipped mutant with a costume that is a mix of organics and powerful celestial technology. His costume is actually part of his body and he can use his immense psionic abilities to manipulate its appearance however he likes.

He also discussed the extensive pre-production work awaiting him in the near future. “After we finish here I’m heading to do a head cast [for ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’], which they do often,” Isaac said. “You spend 3-4 hours with them putting plaster all over your head and they get a sense of what your face is like and what shape your head is, so they can start figuring out the costume and the make up and all that stuff, which is pretty fun.”

X-Men: Apocalypse will open in theaters May 27, 2016

Simon Pegg is Co-Writing Star Trek 3

Simon Pegg to co-write Star Trek 3.

Simon Pegg, who played Scotty in the last two “Star Trek” films, is taking on a second task for the third installment – screenwriter. According to Deadline, Pegg has been set to co-write Star Trek 3, which will be directed by “Fast & Furious” helmer Justin Lin. This is following the news from December that Roberto Orci would no longer be writing the Paramount/Skydance film. Pegg is co-writing the script with Doug Jung (“Dark Blue,” “Banshee”), says The Hollywood Reporter‘s Borys Kit.

Pegg will also reprise his role as Scotty, of course, reteaming with Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Anton Yelchin, Karl Urban, and Zoe Saldana as the crew of the U.S.S. Enterprise. J.J. Abrams, who directed the last two films, is producing this time around.

Pegg has previously written the Edgar Wright-directed Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz and The World’s End, as well as the comedies Run, Fatboy, Run and Paul.

Paramount Pictures has Star Trek 3 scheduled for a July 8, 2016 release, which coincides with the 50th anniversary of the “Star Trek” franchise.

Jake Gyllenhaal Passes on SUICIDE SQUAD

jake-gyllenhaal-passes-on-suicide-squad

After Tom Hardy dropped out of Suicide Squad, Warner Bros. went after Jake Gyllenhaal and offered him the role of Rick Flagg. Gyllenhaal would have been great in the role, especially after he beefed up for his upcoming boxing film Southpaw. We won’t be seeing Gyllenhaal in the movie, though. According to Variety, the actor passed on the offer. I’m sure the studio was prepared for this and has a list of actors they would like to bring on.

I actually thought that Gyllenhaal would take the part as he already has a working relationship with director David Ayer. The two worked together on the incredible police drama End of Watch. There was no reason given as to why he passed, but production starts in April, so there’s still plenty of time to find an actor to take on the role of Rick Flagg.

The movie still has a lot of star power behind it, including Will Smith (Deadshot), Margot Robbie (Harley Quinn), Jared Leto (The Joker), Jai Courtney (Captain Boomerang), and Cara Delevingne (Enchantress). They obviously want another big A-list star to play Flagg,

So with 2 big names out for the  same  role  who would you like to see as flagg?

Suicide Squad is set to bow August 5th, 2016.

Milla Jovovich Confirms August Start for Resident Evil: The Final Chapter

Resident_Evil:_Retribution_1

Last August, actress Milla Jovovich announced that she and her husband Paul W.S. Anderson were expecting their second child together, thus delaying the shooting of Resident Evil: The Final Chapter. Now she has taken to Facebook (tip of the hat to Bobby Napoli) with word that she is already preparing to return as Alice for the revived shoot in August.

Says Jovovich, “I’m really proud of myself for not gaining the same amount of weight that I did with our first child (75 lbs.) because I have to be ready to start filming ‘Resident Evil- The Final Chapter’ in August of this year and I will also be nursing an infant simultaneously.”

Shooting was initially being prepped for Cape Town, South Africa, which will be one of several locales used for the sixth and (supposed) last part in the long-running Resident Evil franchise. The last film to see release was Resident Evil: Retribution in 2012.

Targeting a September 2, 2016 release date, Anderson returns for his fourth outing as director and writer of the Screen Gems release Resident Evil: The Final Chapter, with actor Wentworth Miller reprising his role as Chris Redfield from 2010?s Resident Evil: Afterlife.

Promo Art Surfaces for Joss Whedon’s WONDER WOMAN

promo-art-surfaces-for-joss-whedons-wonder-woman

Back in 2005, Avengers director Joss Whedon wrote a Wonder Woman script for Warner Bros. Unfortunately his version of the film never saw the light of day. But today some rare promotional art for the film he was developing has surfaced, and the original art is currently up sale for sale on eBay for a good cause.

Money is being raised for Clydene Nee, who is suffering from kidney failure. “The money will go to help support her healthcare and living expenses. Clydene has worked in the comic book industry and is a long time and loved member of the art community.” She was also a San Diego Comic-Con volunteer who is instrumental in the continued existence of Artists’ Alley.

The art was created by Adam Hughes, and apparently prints of it were given away at Comic-Con back in 2005. When talking about his version of Wonder Woman, Whedon had this to say in a previous interview:

“She was very powerful and very naïve about people. The fact that she was a goddess was how I eventually found my in to her humanity and vulnerability, because she would look at us and the way we kill each other and the way we let people starve and the way the world is run and she’d be like, ‘None of this makes sense to me’.”

It’s a shame this movie never happened, but one day it will, and it probably won’t be as good as what Whedon could have given us.

WORLD WAR Z 2 Will Start With a “Clean Slate”

World War Z was a surprise hit in the summer of 2013. It did incredibly well commercially and critically, even after going through multiple reshoots and replacing the entire third act that was left on the cutting room floor. We’ve reported in the past that a sequel is coming, and now we have a bit of an update from the screenwriter Steven Knight (Eastern Promises, Locke). Continue reading
