Earlier today we learned that Jake Gyllenhaal was in talks to take on the role of Mysterio in director Jon WattsSpider-Man: Homecoming sequel. Now, thanks to Variety, we know that Michael Keaton will be back in the role of The Vulture!

I wasn’t sure if we’d ever see the character again because it’s rare for a villain to show up more than once in the MCU. But I’m certainly happy to see that this villain will be back! He’s one of my favorites and in my opinion one of the best villains introduced in the MCU.

There’s no word on how big of a role he’ll play in the movie, but the Vulture and Mysterio do have a connection. In Spider-Man: Homecoming Vulture teamed up with Phineas Mason a.k.a. The Tinkerer to help him develop weapons. In the comic book, Mysterio teams up with the Tinkerer to help him develop gadgets to fight Spider-Man.

Maybe the two will find a way to team up against Spider-Man? There are no story details on the film, so all we can do is speculate about what the roles of these characters will be in the story.

Are you happy to hear that Keaton will be back as The Vulture, though?

Jake Gyllenhaal to Play Mysterio in Spider-Man: Homecoming Sequel!

Jake Gyllenhaal to Play Mysterio in Spider-Man: Homecoming sequel!

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Jake Gyllenhaal (Nightcrawler, Okja) seems finally poised to enter the superhero realm as the actor is reportedly in talks to portray the Marvel supervillain Mysterio in Marvel Studios’ forthcoming sequel to Spider-Man: Homecoming. The actor has had a long flirtation with playing a comic book character, having costume tested to replace an injured Tobey Maguire for Spider-Man 2, screentested for Batman Begins, and was circling but ultimately turned down the role of Rick Flag in Suicide Squad. There have also been rumors of Gyllenhaal replacing Ben Affleck in the DCEU for Matt Reeves’ The Batman, though this MCU casting leaves that in doubt.

Twenty Seven (27!) Actors Who Could Replace Hugh Jackman As Wolverine

Hugh Jackman has just hung up his adamantium claws for good, his third Wolverine movie being the actor’s final outing as the X-Men character. (Allegedly). Although Jackman’s take on Wolverine has been different in some notable ways from how the character has typically been presented in Marvel comics, for many, Jackman’s name has become synonymous with the character. His tenure in the role (Jackman will have portrayed Wolverine over a span of 17 years across nine different films when all is said and done), combined with his gruff, yet amiable performance, means that whoever inherits the role will have the almost impossible task of living up to what Jackman brought to the table. While there are reportedly no current plans to recast the role once Jackman is done, any of the following actors would do a fine job as the next Wolverine if and when the role is eventually recast. Just about any male actor that has starred in a fighting movie, vampire movie, HBO’s “Game of Thrones,” or any CW series is eligible, and frankly, I think this Who’s Who’s List of Hollywood hunks have included them all.  Continue reading

Jake Gyllenhaal Passes on SUICIDE SQUAD

jake-gyllenhaal-passes-on-suicide-squad

After Tom Hardy dropped out of Suicide Squad, Warner Bros. went after Jake Gyllenhaal and offered him the role of Rick Flagg. Gyllenhaal would have been great in the role, especially after he beefed up for his upcoming boxing film Southpaw. We won’t be seeing Gyllenhaal in the movie, though. According to Variety, the actor passed on the offer. I’m sure the studio was prepared for this and has a list of actors they would like to bring on.

I actually thought that Gyllenhaal would take the part as he already has a working relationship with director David Ayer. The two worked together on the incredible police drama End of Watch. There was no reason given as to why he passed, but production starts in April, so there’s still plenty of time to find an actor to take on the role of Rick Flagg.

The movie still has a lot of star power behind it, including Will Smith (Deadshot), Margot Robbie (Harley Quinn), Jared Leto (The Joker), Jai Courtney (Captain Boomerang), and Cara Delevingne (Enchantress). They obviously want another big A-list star to play Flagg,

So with 2 big names out for the  same  role  who would you like to see as flagg?

Suicide Squad is set to bow August 5th, 2016.

Looks like someone might have an ego issue. Yesterday we reported that Tom Hardy had dropped out of David Ayer‘s Suicide Squad due to scheduling conflicts. Apparently that’s not the real reason he left. Continue reading
