It’s not just Marvel getting in on the ‘superteams duking it out’ stuff lately—DC is joining in on the fun with a newly announced event that is setting two of their current most popular teams, the Justice League and the Suicide Squad, at each other’s throats.
Revealed through Wall Street Journal, the event series—written by Joshua Williamson, with art from Jason Fabok—will see Batman decide once and for all that Waller’s Task Force X must be shut down permanently (presumably President Obama agrees with him?), calling in his Justice League allies to bring them in. Fans of Marvel Comics have gotten used to fresh new takes on their traditional superheroes in recent years. Thor became a woman, a black man took over as Captain America, and the current Ms. Marvel is a Muslim teenager from Jersey City. On Wednesday morning, news emerged that yet another marquee character was in for a big change.
This time it’s Iron Man, and a black woman named Riri Williams will be replacing billionaire playboy Tony Stark in the suit. The character, who was introduced earlier this year, will be headlining a new “Invincible Iron Man” series that will be spun out of Marvel’s “Civil War II” event. Marvel Comics fans lost their collective minds when they read (or read about) “Captain America: Steve Rogers” #1, where it was revealed that Captain America was an agent of Hydra. Not only was it revealed that Steve Rogers has been working with Hydra, but according to the comic, he had been recruited to be an agent of the evil organization back in the 20s. The internet went absolutely crazy over the news, but now everyone can finally calm down. Or possibly get upset for a completely different reason.

Mark Millar has officially revealed (via THR) that Kick-Ass is coming back to comics, though this time there will be a brand-new hero underneath that green mask. Instead of Dave Lizewski taking to the streets as the crime fighter, now it will be a young black woman. Though no further details were offered, it’s clear the character will have an entirely different approach to the ideals of being a hero. Continue reading
“The Flash” season two wrapped up with an epic finale – and one of Barry Allen’s worst decisions yet. The scarlet speedster headed back in time to the night his mother was killed (again), but this time, he saved her life. It’s a huge decision that undid pretty much everything Barry has done over the past two seasons – coming to terms with his mother’s death, discovering how time travel can affect the present, and making an earlier decision not to save her, in order to become the Flash.
