Jake Gyllenhaal Passes on SUICIDE SQUAD

After Tom Hardy dropped out of Suicide Squad, Warner Bros. went after Jake Gyllenhaal and offered him the role of Rick Flagg. Gyllenhaal would have been great in the role, especially after he beefed up for his upcoming boxing film Southpaw. We won’t be seeing Gyllenhaal in the movie, though. According to Variety, the actor passed on the offer. I’m sure the studio was prepared for this and has a list of actors they would like to bring on.

I actually thought that Gyllenhaal would take the part as he already has a working relationship with director David Ayer. The two worked together on the incredible police drama End of Watch. There was no reason given as to why he passed, but production starts in April, so there’s still plenty of time to find an actor to take on the role of Rick Flagg.

The movie still has a lot of star power behind it, including Will Smith (Deadshot), Margot Robbie (Harley Quinn), Jared Leto (The Joker), Jai Courtney (Captain Boomerang), and Cara Delevingne (Enchantress). They obviously want another big A-list star to play Flagg,

So with 2 big names out for the  same  role  who would you like to see as flagg?

Suicide Squad is set to bow August 5th, 2016.

Promo Art Surfaces for Joss Whedon’s WONDER WOMAN

promo-art-surfaces-for-joss-whedons-wonder-woman

Back in 2005, Avengers director Joss Whedon wrote a Wonder Woman script for Warner Bros. Unfortunately his version of the film never saw the light of day. But today some rare promotional art for the film he was developing has surfaced, and the original art is currently up sale for sale on eBay for a good cause.

Money is being raised for Clydene Nee, who is suffering from kidney failure. “The money will go to help support her healthcare and living expenses. Clydene has worked in the comic book industry and is a long time and loved member of the art community.” She was also a San Diego Comic-Con volunteer who is instrumental in the continued existence of Artists’ Alley.

The art was created by Adam Hughes, and apparently prints of it were given away at Comic-Con back in 2005. When talking about his version of Wonder Woman, Whedon had this to say in a previous interview:

“She was very powerful and very naïve about people. The fact that she was a goddess was how I eventually found my in to her humanity and vulnerability, because she would look at us and the way we kill each other and the way we let people starve and the way the world is run and she’d be like, ‘None of this makes sense to me’.”

It’s a shame this movie never happened, but one day it will, and it probably won’t be as good as what Whedon could have given us.

SUPERGIRL Will be a Crime Drama, More Details Revealed

There seems to be a lot of hype building up for the new Supergirl series in development by Warner Bros. TV and CBS. We now have some additional details that I think you’ll be interesting in knowing. According to CBS entertainment chairman Nina Tassler, the series will be a crime procedural, and we may not see her show up in Arrow or The Flash after all. Here’s what she told EW:

“There will be cases, but what [executive producers] Ali Adler and Greg Berlanti pitched was a real series arc for her. The beauty of it is now with shows like Good Wife and Madam Secretary, you can have serialized story elements woven into a case of the week. She’s a crime solver, so she’s going to have to solve a crime. She’s going to get a bad guy.”
