As a GenXer, I find it difficult, and sometimes frustrating talking about music to Gen Y-ers and Millenials. They are perfectly content to remain blissfully ignorant of anything before their time. But at least those conversations are cut short. Those with a sense of history, tend to dismiss the 1980’s culture as a whole. (Any argument given against the 80’s can also be applied to the 90’s, the aughts (’00’s), and even the 70’s.) But beneath its glitzy surface, and beyond the burning neon lights, were some hidden gems that have aged remarkably well. In fact, if they were remade today, many millennials would be hard pressed to believe the lyrics were more than double their age. I previously mentioned 5 such songs in a previous post.

With the successful debut of Marvel’s Jessica Jones on Netflix recently, fans of the TV versions of The Defenders have been wondering just when they’ll hear more about the last piece of the puzzle: Iron Fist. Daredevil is already set to return for a second season next year, with Luke Cage expected to follow relatively soon after, but news has been quiet when it comes to Danny Rand. While the cast of Star Wars: The Force Awakens have remained tight-lipped about what fans can expect from the highly anticipated film, they were a little more forthcoming about what they shouldn’t expect to see.
“Jar Jar is definitely not in the movie,” producer Kathleen Kennedy revealed at the Star Wars press conference in Los Angeles on Sunday.
And don’t expect to see any cuddly, teddy-bear-like Endor natives walking around in the film, either – unless one happened to sneak onto the set, that is. Continue reading
