WDW For the Single Guy: An Experiment – Part 1 (intro)

(DISCLAIMER: The following was originally written by Jerry Skids back in 2009. He is a big Disney fan. He has his own WDW-themed podcast, which you can find here, or here. This is 100% Jerry’s words, completely unedited, out of respect to Jerry. I have not fact-checked any of this information. Obviously the prices have definitely changed since 2009 , and should be used for comparative purposes only, not as actual real-time price quotes. And many attractions have come and gone since the time this was written. However, that does not invalidate his suggestions one iota. This is still useful, and I think this is so amazing, that I want to share his knowledge and wisdom. Thank you Jerry! WDW For The Single Guy: an experiment

A Brief Introduction

Welcome to Walt Disney World! All together, WDW comprises 43 square miles! That’s two times the size of Manhattan, or roughly the size of Boston. Within the confines of this vast are four theme parks: (Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and Animal Kingdom), two water parks: (Blizzard Beach, and Typhoon Lagoon), 34 hotels (see later), two nighttime-entertainment areas (Downtown Disney, and The Boardwalk), five golf courses, campground, over 100 restaurants, four interconnected lakes, a sports complex, three convention venues, a nature preserve, and a transportation system consisting of four-lane highways, elevated monorails, and a network of canals. PHEW!

They have 60,000 employees – well they had 60,000 employees … also known as “cast members.” That makes them the largest single-site employer in the United States!

If this were a real book, I’d go into more, but instead, I’ll go right ahead and start talking about the best times to go – so, here we go! Continue reading

5 more songs from the 80’s that were ahead of their time

As a GenXer, I find it difficult, and sometimes frustrating talking about music to Gen Y-ers and Millenials. They are perfectly content to remain blissfully ignorant of anything before their time. But at least those conversations are cut short. Those with a sense of history, tend to dismiss the 1980’s culture as a whole. (Any argument given against the 80’s can also be applied to the 90’s, the aughts (’00’s), and even the 70’s.) But beneath its glitzy surface, and beyond the burning neon lights, were some hidden gems that have aged remarkably well. In fact, if they were remade today, many millennials would be hard pressed to believe the lyrics were more than double their age. I previously mentioned 5 such songs in a previous post.

Here are five more. (In no particular order) Continue reading

Exclusive: Tom Holland Reveals an Interesting Spider-Man Tidbit.

By now, you’ve probably already watched the new Captain America: Civil War teaser trailer a few dozen times.
