Suicide Squad was a bad film. I went in with small hopes for Suicide Squad. I had heard that it wasn’t great but was fun. I was very disappointed. The first third of the movie was maybe fun and then it just got worse and worse at every turn. Yahoo! Recently talked with Joel Kinnaman, who played Colonel Rick Flag, and asked where the first film went wrong and how the sequel would be improved. His response to the first question was very quick and very blunt: “The third act.” I don’t know that I agree with him. While the third act was pretty bad, I feel like everything started to fall apart during the second act. His response to the second question is as follows:
“It was a great set-up, great characters. I think when we do the second one I wouldn’t be surprised if we saw a more grounded version of the film. The characters are so extreme it could be more effective if we saw less sorcery. I think the characters become more extreme if you see them in conjunction with real people.”
