Yesterday there was a  surprise announcement that “Quantum Break”, a highly anticipated Xbox One exclusive would actually also be launching on the PC at the same time in April. On top of that, those who pre-order the Xbox One version get the PC version as well, which is something we will see happen more often  as Microsoft wants to bring more cross-platform features to Xbox One and Windows 10.

According to Microsoft’s head of Xbox, Phil Spencer, cross-buy between PC and Xbox One will be a platform feature: “We’ll make it a platform feature. We think it’s good for gamers. More players, more games, better ecosystem”.

Undoubtedly, the past century was the greatest 100 year stretch in human history. We went from the Industrial Age / Victorian Era, to the Modern Era, to the Atomic Era, to the Information Era. The scientific achievements are mind-blowing. We have made gigantic leaps in transportation, communications, media, astronomy, medicine, and electronics. Unfortunately, not all of this technological advancements have been used for peaceful endeavors. You can argue that the two World Wars were the impetus to many of modern discoveries, but it also the biggest reasons why the 20th century could also be considered one of the worst in human history. We also had countless minor wars (besides the 2 big ones), a Great Depression, one Holocaust (plus a few genocides), a flu pandemic, and worst of all – disco music. And all of the progress we made in civil rights, and Womens’ rights only goes to accentuate the fact that blacks and women were treated, to put it mildly, extremely poorly. Continue reading

Its release date may have just been pushed back, but production on the next proper Star Wars installment has gotten underway only a few weeks after originally scheduled. During an earnings call with investors (via EW), Disney CEO Bob Iger revealed that filming on Star Wars: Episode VIII is now underway with writer/director Rian Johnson, presumably in London where Star Wars has its soundstage base of operations.

Cameras for Episode VIII actually began rolling last fall, as Johnson and Mark Hamill ventured to the Irish location of Skellig Michael, glimpsed at the very end of Star Wars: The Force Awakens. They no doubt wanted to grab the necessary footage to pick up after the events of The Force Awakens before the weather took a sharp turn into winter, so they took part in what are called “pre-shoots,” or bits of photography done before principal photography has actually begun.
