Some interesting movie news has come to light recently in the wake of Alan Rickman’s death. According to Sam Rockwell via The Guardian, Rickman’s passing quelled talk of a sequel to 1999’s Galaxy Quest, a revelation that’s sure to disappoint the film’s cult base. Director Shane Black Hypes ‘The Predator’ As An Expensive “Spectacle”!
After the 1990 film Predator 2, Twentieth Century Fox lost focus on both their Predator and Alien franchises, releasing the underwhelming Alien vs. Predator, it’s even cheaper R-rated sequel, Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem, and then the Robert Rodriguez-produced reboot/sequel Predators.
Thanks to Marvel and their cinematic universe, every studio executive is shifting focus. There’s all sorts of eventized franchises afoot, whether it’s X-Men, Planet of the Apes or Ridley Scott’s new Alien trilogy.
Fox was quick to adapt, being one of the first studios to start spending money on respectable reboots. And while some failed (Fantastic Four), others have flourished. Prometheus, for example, has opened up the door for a mega-sized Predator follow-up, which is being directed by Shane Black. Continue reading

Schwarzenegger Is Meeting ‘Predator 4’ Director Soon
20th Century Fox issued a slew of new release dates for upcoming projects, including their highly-anticipated Predator sequel, which will hit theaters March 2, 2018. Writer-director Shane Black has previously revealed that the script is finished, which he co-wrote with Fred Dekker, and that it will be a sequel, not a reboot as previously rumored. While no cast members are officially attached yet, original Predator star Arnold Schwarzenegger revealed in an interview with The Arnold Fans that he’s planning on meeting with Shane Black soon to discuss the project. 23 JUMP STREET-MEN IN BLACK Crossover Moves Forward With Director James Bobin
Back in 2014, Sony Pictures was planning to develop a crossover film that would combine the world of Men in Black with the 21 Jump Street franchise. According to Variety, the studio is moving forward with their plan on this movie and they are in talks to hire James Bobin to direct the movie. New BATTLESTAR GALACTICA Movie in Development at Universal
Wait ’til the old man hears about this! Those frakkin’ toasters over in Hollywood are once again trying their hand at bringing Battlestar Galactica to the big screen. According to The Hollywood Reporter, producer Michael DeLuca is partnering with Bluegrass Films to develop the venerable sci-fi series as a franchise at Universal Pictures.
