Why The World Needs To See Batman In A Rated R Movie
Cinema has done a fine job presenting Batman in a way that is enjoyable for all audiences. West showed us the man with morals, Keaton showed us the hero, Kilmer showed us the bizarre, Clooney showed us everyone makes mistakes, and Bale showed us The Dark Knight in a real world. With each performance, a mainstream audience got a different feel for Batman, and each (well, most, anyway) succeeded in giving the world all sides of Batman…
…save one.
What happens when Batman doesn’t just “not save the day,” but allows for horrible things to happen? Sure, we saw Rachel Dawes blow up in The Dark Knight…but considering that was the work of The Joker, that was a fairly painless and quick death than what comic book readers have experienced. Wonder Woman To Begin Filming In November
Wonder Woman producer Deborah Snyder (Zack Snyder’s wife) has now confirmed that filming for Gal Gadot’s solo film, which will be directed by Monster director Patty Jenkins (replaced Michelle MacLaren), will begin filming in November.
“But we still wanted a female director and we found Patty Jenkins, who had the right vision and the same vision as we had for the character,” Snyder said at Geena Davis Institutes’ Gender In Media event. “And we’re really happy to be going into production in November and it’s been a really great process. We tried to hire as many female people on the crew as possible.”
Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman solo film, also starring Chris Pine (Star Trek), will hit theaters on June 23, 2017.
First Look at Hawkman and Hawkgirl in DC’s Legends of Tomorrow!
Production on DC’s Legends of Tomorrow officially began this week and to cap off a week of filming, DC Entertainment and The CW have released our first official look at Ciara Renée and Falk Hentschel as Hawkgirl and Hawkman! Check out the photo in the gallery below!
With powers derived from the ancient Egyptian hawk god, Horus, Kendra Saunders (Renee) and Carter Hall (Hentschel) are destined to reincarnate through time as winged, helmeted warriors. Matt Ryan’s Constantine Will Appear on ARROW
DC Comics’ Constantine may have been canceled by NBC, but actor Matt Ryan is going to reprise his role as John Constantine in the fourth season of Arrow! The news was announced at The CW’s Television Critics Association press tour presentation.

Batman V. Superman Screening Gets Standing Ovation, Affleck Getting Long Term Deal
Just like he does with everything else, Batman is dominating the DC Cinematic Universe.
According to rumors from Warner Bros. insiders, the future of DC Movie slate will now center around Ben Affleck’s Dark Knight. The sudden (but really, unsurprising) pivot came after an early cut of Batman V. Superman: Dawn Of Justice was shown to a small group of Warner Bros. executives. The big wigs were reportedly so impressed with the film, that they gave it a standing ovation.
And much of that applause was for Ben Affleck and his performance as Batman. The executives are so impressed, in fact, that they are reportedly trying to get Affleck on-board for three stand-alone Batman films. Affleck’s Batman, and these movies, would reportedly become the cornerstone of DC’s other movies, with one Warner boss reportedly calling Affleck the “definitive Batman.”
Since these reports are unconfirmed or credited, just treat them as rumors for now. But seeing as how Batman is, well, Batman, we wouldn’t be surprised if there was some truth to the story.

DC’s Legends of Tomorrow Finds Its Vandal Savage
DC Entertainment and The CW have announced another new addition to the upcoming “DC’s Legends of Tomorrow,” with Danish actor Casper Crump (Tarzan) set to play the immortal villain Vandal Savage. In the series, Savage is described as “having spent the past 6,000 years moving like a virulent disease through history, whispering in the ears of despots and dictators, all leading to his eventual domination of the world.” Continue reading
