Jabba The Hutt STAR WARS Spinoff Film in Development at Lucasfilm

Yesterday the big news hit that Lucasfilm was officially developing an Obi-Wan Kenobi film. This is something that a lot of fans were hoping were would see. It was also revealed that they were in talks with Billy Elliot director Stephen Daldry to direct it.

There was also a little piece of big news tucked away in an article by Variety that I hadn’t heard before. They say that on top of the Obi-Wan Kenobi movie and the Boba Fett movie that have been in development, they are also working on a Jabba The Hutt film!

I’ve never heard Jabba The Hutt being mentioned as a possible film before. The only time we’ve talked about the possibility of a Jabba The Hutt movie is when director Guillermo del Toro shared an idea that he had for it. When talking about it, he said:

“This is not real, this is me as a fat geek just geeking out and talking about it. I would do the sort of Godfather saga that Jabba the Hutt had to go through to gain control. One, because it’s the character that looks the most like me, and I like him. I love the idea of a Hutt type of mafia, a very complex coup. I just love the character.”

All I know is that I would love to watch a Jabba The Hutt Godfather-style gangster Star Wars movie! That would be amazing! You know what would be even more amazing!? If Del Toro actually came on board to direct it!

There’s no information on how far in development they are with the project, but a movie based on the underworld of the Star Wars universe, with Jabba The Hutt as the central figure could be pretty damn cool. What do you all think?

One Reason Why Lucasfilm Dropped The STAR WARS Extended Universe Was Because of Chewbacca

When Disney bought Lucasfilm and started on their journey to producing new Star Wars films, one of the first things they announced was that they would be ditching the Star Wars Extended Universe saying that none of it would be canon. This initially pissed a lot of fans off because the Extended Universe is full of great stories and characters.

There are actually many reasons why they decided to drop the Extended Universe and rebrand it into what is now called Star Wars Legends. Lucasfilm originally released a statement explaining why, but Star Wars Story Group member Leland Chee got a little more specific explaining that one reason came down to Chewbacca.

Why Chewbacca, you ask. Because Chewbacca was killed off in the Extended Universe and they wanted to play with that character in the films. While talking with SyFy.com, Chee, who also oversees The Holocron, which is basically Lucasfilm’s official version of Wookieepedia, had this to say:

FLASHPOINT Will Be Directed By SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING Writers John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein

Well, Warner Bros. has finally officially hired a couple of directors to take on the DC film Flashpoint. The screenwriting duo behind Spider-Man: Homecoming, John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein, have crossed over to DC Entertainment to take on the challenge, and that could be great!

The two previously directed Vacation and the upcoming film Game Night, which looks hilarious. I’ll admit, I was really hoping that Robert Zemeckis would do it, but obviously, things didn’t work out that way. I think Daley and Goldstein could end up doing a good job, though. We’ll just ahve to wait and see. After all, this will be their biggest directing project to date.

Learn All About Captain Phasma’s Awesome Armor That Didn’t Really Help Her Much

learn-all-about-captain-phasmas-awesome-armor-that-didnt-really-help-her-much-social.jpg

I’ve been saying since I saw Star Wars: The Last Jedi that Captain Phasma is the new Boba Fett, and this video proves it. I mean that in the sense that her stories outside of the films are far more entertaining, and much like Fett, she died in a way that really undermines just how much of a bad ass she was. Take her armor for example, which I just now learned is blaster resistant and was once the property of Emperor Palpatine. It’s a damn shame we didn’t see that armor get put to better use, but I’m sure the expanded universe stories about her will make mention of it quite often. Learn the history of Phasma’s armor below, and let us know if you think she was a wasted character.

Sebastian Stan Says Hugh Jackman Has Been Thinking About Coming Back as Wolverine For Marvel

So look, we all know that Hugh Jackman said he was completely dine with playing Wolverine after Logan. As hard as it was to hear that we’d never see Jackman play Wolverine again, Jackman ended his time as Wolverine on a high note. Logan was incredible and if he never plays Wolverine again at least he ended it with, in my opinion, his greatest performance ever.

Well, it sounds like Jackman might actually be thinking about coming back now that Marvel and Fox have joined forces and we will see the X-Men finally crossover with the Avengers. The information came from MCU star Sebastian Stan during a panel at Ace Comic Con. While there, he shared a story of how he asked Hugh Jackman about the possibility of returning. Here’s what Stan had to say:

Seems Like Liam Neeson Would Reprise His Qui-Gon Jinn Role in Lucasfilm’s OBI-WAN KENOBI Movie

It’s no secret that Lucasfilm is currently developing an Obi-Wan Kenobi movie. It’s in the very early stages of development and we have no idea what exactly they are planning. What we do know is that the studio is looking at hiring Stephen Daldry (Billy Elliot and The Hours) to direct.

We also know that Ewan McGregor is up for reprising his role if Lucasfilm comes knocking. Who knows, maybe they already have and no one is saying anything. Now Liam Neeson is saying that he’s open to reprising his role of Quin-Gon Jinn in the film if he’s asked! While talking to Yahoo, he was asked about the possibility of returning and this is what he said:

The Animated CONSTANTINE Series Will Be Darker Than The Original Series

When the animated Constantine series premieres on The CW Seed, it will pick up where the live-action series left off, albeit with one exception. Peter Girardi, EVP of Blue Ribbon Content informed press at the TCA winter tour (via Slashfilm) the series will be much darker than its predecessor:

The Constantine that we’re doing, it’s Constantine. If you’re familiar with the character Constantine from the Vertigo comic, it’s dark, darker than the show.

Girardi suggested parents not let their younger children watch the series when it debuts later this year. I’ll give the series a shot, of course, but I would much rather see John Constantine back in the Arrow-verse in a much more permanent capacity. What about you?

As we all might imagine and based on what we’ve seen in the trailer, there is no doubt that Avengers: Infinity War is going to be unlike any other movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with characters from all corners of the MCU uniting.  Now one of the actors who plays one of the most important characters, Chris Hemsworth is giving us a good idea of just how many to expect.

In a recent interview with Postmedia Network,  Hemsworth teased just how massive Infinity War will be, with over 70 characters appearing throughout the film in one way or another.

GERALD’S GAME Director Wants To Helm The Sequel To Stephen King’s THE SHINING

Stephen King properties were a hot commodity in 2017, between the remake of It and the Netflix adaptation of Gerald’s Game. Now Mike Flanagan (Gerald’s Game, Oculus) is talking about another King-related project he would like to take on, Doctor SleepDoctor Sleep is a sort of sequel to The Shining, which introduces audiences to a grown-up version of Danny Torrance, the boy who survived the Overlook Hotel.

Stephen King released Doctor Sleep in 2013, but it wasn’t very good. Still, The Shining films have taken on such a massive cult following and it seems to be only a matter of time before Hollywood decides to bring Doctor Sleep into theaters. In a recent interview with Lilja’s Library, Flanagan revealed that the two King adaptations he’d most be interested in making are Lisey’s Story, about an author’s widow, and the Shining sequel Doctor Sleep:

“[T]he ones I’d want to do the most are Doctor Sleep and Lisey’s Story. In both cases, it’s because I identify with the protagonists so much. Lisey’s Story is a stunning piece of work, a beautiful exploration of marriage. And who wouldn’t want to venture back into the world of Danny Torrance?”

The Luke Skywalker and Kylo Ren Showdown From THE LAST JEDI Recreated in 16-Bit Greatness

I don’t know about you, but when I was growing up I loved playing the 16-bit Star Wars game on Super Nintendo. I wish those were included in the SNES Classic console! It would be so cool to see the current trilogy of films get similar playable games, but thanks to Mr. Sunday Movies we can at least get an idea of what it would look like if Star Wars: The Last Jedi was a 16-bit video game.

The video below was created by animator John Stratman and it focuses on the badass climatic moment of the film where we see Luke Skywalker and Kylo Ren face off on the planet of Crait. This is easily one of my favorite moments of the movie, and this is a radical recreation of that scene that I think fans are going to love! Check it out!

If you haven’t seen the movie yet, you’ll probably want to skip this because of spoilers.
