Bandai is releasing a series of incredible Star Wars action figures, and so far we’ve seen a samurai Darth Vader and a samurai Stormtrooper. Now we have one of a Luke Skywalker Jedi action figure based on his look from Star Wars: Return of the Jedi. In fact, you can actually pose the figure the way that you see him on the movie poster. Yesterday, a rumor spread claiming that Sony Pictures had made a deal with Marvel Studios for the character of Spider-Man to appear in Avengers: Infinity War. It came from solid sources from the folks at Latino Review, but now Sony has officially gone on the record to deny the claim. Sony reps told the people at CBR that it was an “old rumor” with “no validity whatsoever.”
Director Paul Feig has not been shy about his plans for his upcoming reboot of Ghostbusters, and now speaking with Empire, he’s revealed a few more details on the film including that it will in fact still be set in New York City. Continue reading
“Birdman” star Michael Keaton is in early negotiations to star as Ray Kroc in indie movie “The Founder,” the story of how Kroc turned McDonald’s into a global fast food empire.
FilmNation is producing along with Jeremy Renner and Don Handfield, who will produce through their production shingle The Combine. The company plans to shoot later this year.
Variety reported last month that John Lee Hancock was in talks to direct and that Keaton was interested in taking the role.
The story, developed in the vein of “The Social Network,” will focus on how Kroc — a salesman of milkshake dispensers — created one of the most powerful brands in the world. Kroc began working for the McDonald brothers in 1954 at the age of 51 as a franchising agent and bought the chain for $2.7 million in 1961.
“The Wrestler” scribe Robert Siegel wrote the script for “The Founder.” At one point in development, FilmNation approached Tom Hanks for the role of Kroc but he passed.
Keaton came on board last week to star in Universal-Legendary’s “Kong: Skull Island.” He is represented by ICM Partners and Anonymous Content.

I really enjoyed the zombie apocalypse films 28 Days Later and 28 Weeks Later. Danny Boyle directed the first film from a script written by Alex Garland, but they weren’t really involved with the sequel other than being executive producers. For those of you who are also fans of the franchise, you’ll be happy to hear that Garland and Boyle have been discussing a 28 Months Later sequel! Garland revealed the news in an interview with IGN, saying:
“We’ve got an idea. Danny [Boyle] and [producer] Andrew [Macdonald] and I have been having quite serious conversations about it so it is a possibility. It’s complicated.”
It’s good to know that the conversations have been serious! That’s a good sign, but the complications are not. So why is it complicated?
“There’s a whole bunch of reasons why it’s complicated, which are boring so I won’t go into, but there’s a possibility.”
At least he’s being optimistic and keeping that possibility alive. He goes on:
“It’s more likely to be 28 Months than 28 Years. 28 Years gives you one more place to go. 28 Decades is probably taking the piss.”

Director James Cameron said Wednesday that writing three “Avatar” sequels is such a complex job he’s delaying the first new film a year and it will now be released in late 2017.
Cameron plans to film the highly-anticipated sequels at one time and then release the three films over consecutive years.
The first had been due in late 2016, but he said the writing process had proved to be “very involved” and that the initial target date was probably too ambitious.
“There’s a layer of complexity in getting the story to work as a saga across three films that you don’t get when you’re making a stand-alone film,” he said in Wellington, New Zealand, where he was helping promote the local film industry with other directors including Peter Jackson.
Cameron said the goal was to have the three scripts completed this month. He’s leading the writing team.
“We’re writing three simultaneously. And we’ve done that so that everything tracks throughout the three films. We’re not just going to do one and then make up another one and another one after that,” he said. “And parallel with that, we’re doing all the design. So we’ve designed all the creatures and the environments.”
Cameron said he thought it was important that each film linked forward to the next one in a satisfying way but also came to a resolution so that the audience wasn’t left hanging.
Released in 2009, “Avatar” is the highest-grossing film in history, with a box office take of nearly $2.8 billion. It was named best drama at the Golden Globes and won Academy Awards for cinematography, visual effects and art direction.
Cameron shot the original movie in New Zealand and is planning to shoot the sequels there.
Producer Jon Landau, who is working with Cameron on the movies, said the team is taking greater security precautions following the recent hack against Sony: “I will only say ‘yes’ but will not tell you how,” he joked.
The films will be made by Lightstorm Entertainment and Twentieth Century Fox.
