The latest DC Comics small screen hero has today made a colorful debut. Black Lightning, starring Cress Williams (Hart of Dixie) in the title role, has officially started production in Atlanta. In the gallery viewer below, you can take a first look at the Black Lightning costume in a piece of art from the upcoming The CW pilot. Greg Berlanti, Salim Akil, Mara Brock and Sarah Schechter are executive producers on Black Lightning, from Berlanti Productions and Akil Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television. Salim Akil is directing the pilot from a script he wrote.

‘Star Wars Rebels’ Comes Close To Explaining The Pokiness Of Vader And Obi-Wan’s ‘A New Hope’ Duel

In 1977, Obi-Wan Kenobi battled Darth Vader aboard the Death Star. At the time audiences had only a partial understanding of the relationship between the Jedi and the Sith, unaware the confrontation was the culmination of decades friendship and betrayal. After crossing blades and words, Obi-Wan took a final look at Luke Skywalker and accepted his fate, falling to Vader’s blade. But what looked like a battle of titans when Star Wars was first released started to resemble the frantic bumbling of two elderly men once fans realized what Jedi and Sith were capable of in the prequel trilogy.

But with Rogue One: A Star Wars Story last year, and now the latest episode of Star Wars Rebels, Lucasfilm is laying the groundwork that could explain why the final encounter between the Master Jedi and his Padawan is so lackluster in hindsight.

Check out Felicity Smoak’s new look for Legends of Tomorrow

Arrow‘s Felicity Smoak has a brand-new look for her upcoming cameo on The CW show Legends of Tomorrow. Arrow and Legends executive producer Marc Guggenheim spoke to Deadline about a surprise cameo on the show at the DCTV PaleyFest event last weekend, saying, “[W]e’ve kept it under wraps, but there’s a surprise cameo, surprise crossover moment, in the penultimate episode” (That episode airs on Tuesday, March 28, 2017.)

 

Wednesday night, Guggenheim tweeted some concept art for the cameo, showing Felicity Smoak, played by Emily Bett Rickards. Felicity will appear in a mask, which you can see in the tweet below, as well as a purple-hooded cape. She’ll be part of the Legends‘ Doomworld event.

According to CBR, Felicity’s costume was designed by Maya Mani and drawn by Andy Poon. These two have created other costumes, including those for Hawkgirl, White Canary, the Atom, Firestorm and Vixen. In the episode, “Doomworld,” the Legion of Doom has assembled the Spear of Destiny, changing reality. Check out the episode synopsis:

DOOMWORLD – After obtaining the Spear of Destiny, the Legion of Doom rewrites reality, leaving the Legends changed, perhaps forever. Frightfully, the Legends’ and the world’s hopes rest with Rory, but being the “hero” is not easy for him. Meanwhile, there is tension within the Legion of Doom and the reason why the Spear of Destiny needs to be destroyed is revealed.

Trump Supporters Get Mad Because They Think The Man in the High Castle’s ‘Resistance Radio’ Is Real

Some conservatives and Donald Trump supporters are freaking out online because there’s a new pirate station called Resistance Radio, dedicated to fighting fascism and Nazi propaganda. Only one problem: It’s fake.

Amazon announced this week that it was launching Resistance Radio as a companion program for “The Man in the High Castle”, an alt-history drama loosely adapted from the Philip K. Dick novel. The pre-recorded radio program is basically a bunch of people talking about how the Third Reich is bad and does bad things. For some, they thought that applied to America’s current president (and/or they didn’t bother actually listening to it). In response, several irate opposers flocked to Amazon’s sponsored #ResistanceRadio hashtag to complain about the station’s “liberal agenda.” Continue reading →

Tick costume revealed for new Amazon show

New Costume for The Tick Series Revealed by Amazon

The Tick series, which is coming to Amazon Prime Video, has a new costume for its titular superhero. The new duds were revealed on the official Twitter page for the show with a picture of star Peter Serafinowicz (Guardians of the Galaxy, Shaun of the Dead). The pilot, which is currently available to stream on Amazon Prime, has Serafinowicz wearing an earlier version of the costume. This post marks Serafinowicz’s first week on the set of the show.

FOX's X-Men Series Titled Gifted, Joseph Morgan Joins Cast

After many weeks of mystery, series executive producer Lauren Shuler Donner has taken to Twitter to reveal the title of FOX’s upcoming X-Men TV series, “Gifted”. Donner posted a photo of the cast at a table read for the pilot episode as well, revealing that Joseph Morgan (“The Vampire Diaries, The Originals”) has joined the cast.

The series stars Stephen Moyer, Amy Acker, Natalie Alyn Lind, Percy Hynes White, Sean Teale, Blair Redford, with Jamie Chung as the mutant Blink, and Natalie Alyn Lind as the mutant Polaris. Continue reading →

Anson Mount Will Be The ‘Inhumans’ Black Bolt

Getting the Inhumans onto our screens has been a very interesting development process. What began as a film due to be released in 2019 as part of the MCU’s Phase Three is now a TV show on ABC with its first two episodes expected to have a theatrical release in IMAX theaters this year. Earlier in February, it was announced that Iwan Rheon had been cast as the treacherous Maximus The Mad, Black Bolt’s brother. Walking Dead producers claim they did not tone down violence due to backlash

“The Walking Dead” executive producer Gale Anne Hurd raised eyebrows on Wednesday, Jan. 18 at the National Association of Television Executives conference in Miami when she seemed to confirm suspicions that producers may have toned down some violence on the show after the reaction to the gruesome season 7 premiere in which two characters were bludgeoned with a barbed wire-covered baseball bat. “We were able to look at the feedback on the level of violence,” said Hurd on a NATPE panel, first reported by Variety. “We did tone it down for episodes we were still filming for later on in the season.”

However, two exec producers tell EW that they did not change their approach at all after many viewers were critical of the graphic nature of the premiere. Showrunner Scott M. Gimple points out that the explicitness of that premiere baseball bat beating was intended to be above and beyond what the zombie drama usually does, and that nothing that came after was ever intended to come anywhere close to it.
