x-men-animated-series-tv-show-slice

While Sony Pictures and Marvel might be able to work out a deal to bring Spider-Man into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the bitter rivalry between Marvel and 20th Century Fox continues.  Fox owns the screen rights to X-Men and Fantastic Four, and Marvel has retaliated by undermining those properties.  According to Marvel Comics writer Chris Claremont [via Bleeding Cool], the company has forbidden the creation of new X-Men characters because those characters could then be used by Fox.

Hit the jump for more on how Marvel is trying to hurt Fox’s profits even if it means canceling comics. Continue reading

M. Night Shyamalan on the Possibility of UNBREAKABLE 2

m-night-shyamalan-on-the-possibility-of-unbreakable-2

If there’s one M. Night Shyamalan movie I would kind of be excited about, it would be a sequel to his comic book inspired film, Unbreakable. I loved that movie, and I’m surprised that we still have yet to see a sequel. During an interview with Collider, the director was asked if he ever thinks about continuing the adventures of David Dunn (Bruce Willis), who becomes an unlikely superhero when he discovers that he’s virtually indestructible. This is what he said: Continue reading

Rachael Taylor Cast as Hellcat in Marvel’s A.K.A. JESSICA JONES

The Netflix and Marvel series A.K.A. Jessica Jones just cast Rachael Taylor as Patricia “Trish” Walker. I’ve only seen her in Transformers and 666 Park Avenue, so I’m going to try to not prejudge this Australian actress too harshly as I haven’t seen her more acclaimed work. She will be suiting up as the hero Hellcat. I’m not familiar with the character at all and based on the lack of good art out there, I’m guessing she’s pretty obscure. From what I’ve gleaned, she has psionic abilities and can move objects via telekinesis. I’m fully expecting the yellow catsuit to be toned down or adapted into something far more practical.

So far, Taylor joins Krysten Ritter (Jessica Jones), David Tennant (Kilgrave), and Mike Colter (Luke Cage). Because this will potentially fit into the Marvel cineverse, we already have some high expectations for the quality and tone of the series.

A.K.A. Jessica Jones should hit Netflix this year.

This seems interesting. Let’s see how this plays out. What are your thoughts?

Elizabeth Olsen Talks Scarlet Witch’s Origin in AGE OF ULTRON, Possible Romance with Vision, and More

If you aren’t familiar with the work of Elizabeth Olsen, I’d highly recommend checking out Martha Marcy May Marlene. The young actress wasn’t really given much to do in last year’s Godzilla, but she’s immensely talented, and I’m really looking forward to seeing what Joss Whedon – a writer known for crafting solid female roles – does with her Scarlet Witch character in Avengers: Age of Ultron. The Ant-Man Prequel Comic Reveals Peggy Carter Connection

Peggy Carter Ant-Man

We learned last fall that Hayley Atwell is set to make an appearance in Marvel Studio’s upcoming “Phase Two” capper, Ant-Man. Rumors at the time suggested that the Peyton Reed film will feature a flashback in which Hank Pym meets with the founding members of S.H.I.E.L.D. Today, Newsarama has posted several pages from Marvel’s official comic book tie-in prequel to the film, revealing a surprising working relationship between Pym and an older Peggy Carter. As you can see from the page below, Peggy appears to be training with Pym using a very similar method to the one she employed to test Steve Roger’s vibranium shield in Captain America: The First Avenger. Does this mean that Michael Douglas’ Pym will have extensive ties to S.H.I.E.L.D.? Only time will tell, but it’s certainly looking likely. Continue reading
