Marvel’s CLOAK AND DAGGER Gets a TV Series. Can Other 1980s Nostalgic Series Like Power Pack and Alpha Flight Be Next?
Marvel is developing a new TV series based on the comic “Cloak and Dagger”. The series is coming to Freeform network, which was previously known as ABC Family. (Which means it is owned by a certain corporation that also owns Marvel Comics and happens to rhyme with “Gisney.”) This news got fans of the property incredibly excited, and they should be! This is a great comic with great characters and it has the potential to be a great series…if it’s done right.
This is not to be confused with the Atari 2600 game, “Cloak & Dagger,” or the 1984 film, Cloak & Dagger, starring Henry Thomas and Dabney Coleman. I understand if you are getting your 1980s nostalgia all mixed up.

Disney Has Reacquired Rights For The Black Cauldron. Will they get it right the Second Time?
Variety says Disney has reacquired the rights to The Chronicles of Prydain, which were the original books by Lloyd Alexander that The Black Cauldron was a part of. Another little fun fact about this film: it was the first Disney movie to feature computer animation! Now, in what seems like either a massive act of hubris, or one of potential adaptational atonement, Disney has an eye on developing a new feature based on the author’s high fantasy world of noble swineherds, oracular pigs, and references to Welsh mythology. For those hoping that Walt Disney Animation Studios would produce a sequel for Big Hero 6 (Big Hero 7?), the studio that has announced that it will be continuing the story of the Academy Award winning film in a TV series that will be coming to Disney XD. Star Wars Monopoly missing lead character has fans asking “Where’s Rey?”
A new edition of the board game for The Force Awakens includes Finn, Kylo Ren, Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader tokens – with the notable absence of Rey, the film’s lead.
She has been embraced by fans as this generation’s new film hero, but in the most recent release of the Star Wars Monopoly game, Rey is nowhere to be seen.
Instead, the game released by Disney and Hasbro features the four character tokens of Finn, Kylo Ren, Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader. It is the latest in a line of official merchandise that has drawn ire for prioritising less prominent male characters over Rey. Continue reading
Pixar’s FINDING DORY Has a Trailer and Poster
Disney has released the first trailer and poster for Pixar’s upcoming film Finding Dory, which as most of you already know is a sequel to Finding Nemo. The sequel will be released 13 years after Finding Nemo, but the story itself picks up only six months after the events from the first film when Dory suddenly starts to remember certain things about her life. In the trailer, these memories first start to manifest themselves in her sleep, and she starts sleep swimming.
The story follows Dory as she embarks on a journey to find her mom and dad. This leads her to an ocean sanctuary facility where wounded animals are treated before they are re-released into the wild. It’s here that she meets lots of new characters like an octopus, who is missing a leg, and a beluga whale named Bailey, who thinks he has suffered a head injury because of the big bump on his head that is supposed to be there. 5 Character Posters for ALICE THROUGH THE LOOKING GLASS
Disney’s upcoming film Alice Through the Looking Glass is a sequel to Tim Butron’s Alice In Wonderland. The trailer was met with a lot of mixed reactions from fans, but for the most part, it seems a lot of people are excited for this next chapter in Alice’s story.
The story follows Alice as she returns to Underland to help save the Mad Hatter from going dark, and this requires an adventure through time. While on her journey, she comes across younger versions of several of the characters that she met in the last film. Continue reading
Disney Is Adding 14 Acres of Star Wars To Its Theme Parks
Years of rumors have finally be made official. Disney CEO Bob Iger just announced at the D23 Expo that they are making not one, but two, full-on Star Wars-themed lands at their theme parks. One at Hollywood Studios in Orlando and one at Disneyland in Anaheim, marking their largest single land park expansions ever.
At 14 acres wide, the parks will transport fans to a whole new Star Wars planet (which, from the images, looks a lot like Naboo) that’s located on the edge of the Outer Rim. Every inch of it will be from the series’ mythos. Everything will tie in. There will be cantinas operated by aliens, and all that good stuff. Continue reading
