Amber Heard Confirms Rumor, Will Play Aquaman’s Wife in DCCU

Early this year, a rumor popped up that actress Amber Heard would be playing the role of Mera in Warner Bros. and DC’s cinematic universe. In the comics, Mera is a badass warrior who becomes Aquaman’s wife. The rumor indicated that Mera would first appear in Justice League — Part 1 before playing the female lead in the Aquaman solo film.

LOBO Film Moves Back Into Development. Maybe he’ll be cool again when it’s released.

Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment’s feature film adaptation of the comic book Lobo is back in development! There hasn’t been much news on the project since Dwayne Johnson confirmed he might play the title character back in 2012.

The CW has given early renewals to 11 of its primetime series for the 2016-2017 season!

The CW renewals list includes the shows Arrow, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, The Flash, iZombie, Jane The Virgin, The Originals, Reign, Supernatural, The Vampire Diaries and The 100.

“The CW has become home to some of the most critically-acclaimed shows on broadcast television,” says The CW’s President, Mark Pedowitz, “with a wide array of fantastic scripted series across the week, ranging from musical comedy, to superhero action, to gritty sci-fi dramas. Justice League: J.K. Simmons to Play Commissioner Gordon

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Oscar-winning actor—who played J. Jonah Jameson in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy—joins Ben Affleck’s Batman, Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman and Henry Cavill’s Man of Steel in the superhero ensemble, which will be directed by Zack Snyder.

Simmons has been involved in a number of recent films, including 2015’s Whiplash, for which he won an Oscar for best supporting actor. He also voiced Mayor Lionheart in Disney’s animated film Zootopia, which debuted to record-breaking numbers.

Justice League: Part One opens on November 17, 2017 and begins filming next month. Meanwhile, Justice League: Part Two will make its theatrical debut on June 14, 2019. In addition to Simmons, Cavill, Affleck and Gadot, the superhero flick will also feature Jason Momoa as Aquaman, Ezra Miller as The Flash and Ray Fisher as Cyborg. Here’s a sneak peek at The Flash’s costume.

Unfortunately for Green Lantern fans, the wait for the emerald crusader’s silver screen arrival will be a bit longer, as producer Charles Roven has confirmed Green Lantern won’t be in Part One and won’t appear until Part Two or possibly even later.
