Emily Blunt Delayed Edge of Tomorrow Sequel for Poppins

Director Doug Liman and star Tom Cruise have been teasing an Edge of Tomorrow sequel, titled Live Die Repeat and Repeat, for some time. Now the film’s other star, Emily Blunt, has revealed to IndieWire that she could have made the sequel happen last year but her commitment to Disney’s Mary Poppins Returns made her availability impossible.

“It’s a lot for all the stars to align for everyone to be free at the same time and available to do it at the same time,” Blunt said. “They asked me to do [it] two months before I started ‘Mary Poppins.’ Tom was like, ‘Can you go this autumn?’ and I was like, ‘No, I can’t go, I’m playing Mary Poppins for like a year, dude! I can’t do Edge of Tomorrow.’ Doug Liman has got an awesome idea and he’s excited and they just need to write it. There has been a script, but now I gather there’s another one in the works.”

Mark Hamill is now talking about another thing that he didn’t like about Star Wars: The Last Jedi. He’s already voiced several complaints about how he didn’t necessarily like how Luke Skywalker was handled. His latest complaint deals with the scene where we see Luke milk and alien creature for blue milk to drink, and this is actually valid.

While the scene did offer a laugh, the time wasted on it would have been better served with seeing Luke mourning the loss of his friend Han Solo, which is a scene that was cut. While talking to IGN about the deleted scenes of the film Hamill had this to say:a

Last year we learned that Warner Bros. was developing a new Matrix film. That news included rumors of Michael B. Jordan starring in the film. and that it would possibly focus on a young version of Morpheus. One thing that screenwriter Zak Penn (Ready Player One) previously made clear is that this is not a reboot. This will be more of a revival.

During an interview with ScreenRant, Zak Penn offered an update on The Matrix, which is a passion project for him. He also once again explains that the movie will not be a reboot and teases the possibility of an expanded universe.

“I’ve been working on Matrix right now. Which is in…a phase right now. That’s a franchise I desperately want to see brought back and, I can’t go in to too much detail, but I’ve been harassing Warner Bros. for years to try to get it going again so that’s one thing I’m working on and I’ve been working on a bunch of other things too.”

J.J. Abrams Talks About CLOVERFIELD 4 and Says it’s a “Crazy Movie”

J.J. Abrams seems to be enjoying his Cloverfield franchise and the mystery that surrounds it. The Cloverfield Paradox made a surprising debut on Netflix after the Super Bowl. The movie was met with a lot of mixed reviews. Some people downright hated it. A lot of people wondered what the fate of the fourth Cloverfield film would be after Paradox was released.

That film is tentatively titled Overlord and it’s already done shooting. As of right now, the plan is to release it on the big screen. Abrams recently spoke with Digital Spy about the project, but first explains that it was fun to release The Cloverfield Paradox without anyone knowing:

“It didn’t really feel like it was any fun to release [The Cloverfield Paradox] with everybody knowing that it was coming. Could we possibly do this and keep it a secret and release the thing in the way we did? That felt to me like that’s the spirit of these movies, that’s the spirit of the series. So to talk about what the next one is and what’s going to happen sort of feels counter intuitive.”

Here’s an interesting bit of Star Wars trivia that I didn’t know until today! Solo: A Star Wars Story co-writer Lawrence Kasdan recently revealed in an interview with EW, that he was actually developing a standalone Han Solo film with George Lucas before Disney bought Lucasfilm.

If George Lucas wouldn’t have sold Lucasfilm to Disney, there’s a good chance that he was on the road to launching his own Star Wars expanded cinematic universe, which is pretty cool. According to the report:

Even before Lucasfilm was sold to Disney in 2012, launching a renaissance of galactic storytelling, Lawrence Kasdan had signed on to put together a Han Solo-centric movie.
