Before a fan screening of Terminator 2: Judgment Day in 3D in Hollywood this evening, new Terminator director Tim Miller and series creator/producer James Cameron revealed that Terminator 2 star Linda Hamilton will return to the franchise as Sarah Connor. The Hollywood Reporter says that Miller and Cameron are working on a new trilogy of films
with a writers room that includes David Goyer (Dark Angel), Charles Eglee, and Josh Friedman, who created the Terminator spin-off The Sarah Connor Chronicles.

Despite not going over too well with critics and most everyone else, Terminator: Genisys still took in close to $440 million worldwide, (which currently places it at #197 all-time at the time of this posting. By way of comparison, 2003’s Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines is right below it at #198 with $433.4M. The dollars are not adjusted for inflation, it was released 12 years earlier, and it did not have the benefit of 3D or IMAX for extra revenue.) Paramount/Skydance seemed dead set on continuing the franchise after “readjusting” their approach to the material.
