Rumor: Michael Keaton Is in Talks to Play a Villain in Spider-Man: Homecoming

It looks like Marvel and Sony’s Spider-Man: Homecoming is about to get even more awesome with the possible inclusion of Michael Keaton as the villain in the film. The news comes from Variety, who says that the actor is in early talks to join the Jon Watts-directed film. If cast, he will join Tom Holland as Spider-Man, Marisa Tomei as Aunt May, and Zendaya in a mystery role.

It would be pretty damn cool to see Keaton in another superhero film. We don’t know exactly who he would be playing, but it was recently rumored that one of the villains would be Vulture. After starring in Birdman, he could conceivably be cast as Vulture. So let the speculation begin!

At the time, we all assumed that meant that it was a given those crossovers would eventually happen, but Feige’s use of the word “could” meant there was still a chance — however small — that the MCU characters would be restricted only to Marvel Studios films.

Now, in a new interview with EW, Feige confirmed everyone’s original assumption: those MCU characters will, in fact, appear in Spider-Man’s solo films. Continue reading
