As revealed by Predator 4 co-writer Fred Dekker on Facebook, the script for the next installment of the long-running sci-fi/action franchise is in. It’s been rumored for a few months that Tom Cruise would star in Universal’s reboot of The Mummy, and now the studio has made it official — but they’ve also delayed the film for three more months. Moviegoers attending the first screenings of Michael Bay’s 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi tonight found a true surprise preceding the film in the form of a trailer for director Dan Trachtenberg‘s upcoming Paramount Pictures thriller. The film, formerly known as first The Cellar and later Valencia, is now being released under the title 10 Cloverfield Lane and stars Mary Elizabeth Winstead, John Goodman and John Gallagher, Jr. What’s more, there’s a heavy implication that the March 11 release is secretly the long-awaited sequel to Matt Reeves’ 2008 hit Cloverfield. Work is already underway on Ridley Scott’s upcoming return to the world of Alien. Following a Golden Globe (Best Motion Picture, Comedy or Musical(?!?)) win for The Martian, Scott is off to Australia to begin production on the upcoming Alien: Covenant. Speaking backstage, Scott revealed a few details about his plans for the picture, including the fact that he’s shooting for “a pretty hard R” rating. Out of all of the single digits, the number “6” gets the least love. (Yes, even if you include the zero “0.”) Not only that, the number six gets the least amount of respect. It is associated with “The Devil” and is the number of “The Beast” because… reasons?? It is the least distinguishable amongst the single digits. As a composite number, it loses the appeal that the “prime” numbers 2,3,5, and 7 have. It is not a square number like 4 and 9. Even the number eight has a more aesthetic appeal, with its double loop, vis-a-vis six’s single loop with a cowlick. And I shouldn’t have to explain the appeal of being #1. The only thing the number six can take pride is that it is the first counting number to incorporate the use of a second hand (unless you are one of those people who decides to use the first index finger twice. On November 16, 20th Century Fox officially announced a title, release date and synopsis for the Prometheus sequel and first of the Alien prequels. The film, which is titled Alien: Covenant, is starting pre-production in Australia now for filming to begin at Sydney’s Fox Studios in March of 2016 for 16 weeks.
