Fox Reportedly Wants Director Josh Boone To Reshoot 50% of THE NEW MUTANTS Movie

It was recently reported that Fox pushed the release dates back for X-Men: Dark Phoenix and The New Mutants. We won’t be seeing these films released until 2019. Thanks to Collider, we now know the reason for the delay and that reason is because of some reshoots that need to happen.

X-Men: Dark Phoenix was originally scheduled to be released on November 2, 2018 and was moved to February 14, 2019. The New Mutants moved from February 2019 to August 2, 2019. This is the second time that the release date was pushed for that movie. It was originally set for an April 2018 release before being pushed to February.

Professor X to Appear in NEW MUTANTS, Which Starts Filming in 2017

Here’s a small update about the future of the X-Men movie franchise. During the press junket for X-Men: Apocalypse, writer/producer Simon Kinberg told Collider that a familiar name is going to show up in Josh Boone’s New Mutants movie:

“Right now, as the movie exists, Professor X would be a part of a New Mutants movie.”

Deadpool did a sly job of helping set up the X-Men spinoff New Mutants. It introduced Negasonic Teenage Warhead as part of the team, and gave us a look at their uniforms without ever mentioning the Marvel outfit by name. Fox has closed a deal with The Fault In Our Stars director Josh Boone to co-write and direct The New Mutants, a standalone spin-off that expands its X-Men movie universe. The series, already part of the X-Men Comics universe, introduces a new crop of mutant characters born with special powers. Boone will co-write with Knate Gwaltney.
