CAPTAIN MARVEL Will Be Set in the 1990s and Nick Fury Will Be Back… with Two Eyes

During the Marvel panel at Comic-Con today, Kevin Feige revealed a few cool new details regarding Captain Marvel! On top of showing off some concept art of Brie Larson as Captain Marvel, which you can see below, he also announced that the film would be set in the early 1990s!

This means the whole story will have taken place long before the events of Iron Man and I absolutely love that direction! This is certainly going to be an interesting period piece. I loved the 90s. Feige also confirmed that Samuel L. Jackson‘s Nick Fury would be back and since the story is set in the 90s… he’ll have both of his eyes, which is pretty fun.

I should probably also mention that The Skrulls will be in the movie! Yep, you read that correctly… The Skrulls! The Skrulls are a villainous alien race with shape-shifting abilities and they are hell bent on invading Earth and engaged in a prolonged war with the extraterrestrial Kree. You can check out some concept art of them below!

Feige didn’t go into any details on the story, but I love what I’m hearing about it and seeing from it so far! That’s all the info we have right, but we’ll fill you in on more details as they become avilable.

Brie Larson Explains Why She Took on the Role of CAPTAIN MARVEL

Fan Art by Boss Logic

Brie Larson is going to embark on one of her greatest adventures when she plays Carol Danvers in Captain Marvel in the MCU. She’s a rising star in Hollywood and Captain Marvel will most certainly be her biggest role to date.

Taking on the role of Captain Marvel wasn’t an easy one for her to make. In a recent interview with Vanity Fair, she said is took “a really long time” to make the decision to do it, especially with the secrecy involved with the project because she couldn’t talk about it to anyone. She explained:

“I had to sit with myself, think about my life and what I want out of it. Ultimately, I couldn’t deny the fact that this movie is everything I care about, everything that’s progressive and important and meaningful, and a symbol I wished I would’ve had growing up. I really, really feel like it’s worth it if it can bring understanding and confidence to young women—I’ll do it.”

Detailed Description of CAPTAIN MARVEL’s Movie Costume Design

Some interesting details have surfaced regarding the design of the costume that Brie Larson will be wearing in the highly anticipated Captain Marvel movie. Marvel Studios recently showed off a bunch of cool stuff for some of the upcoming films to several press outlets at the Marvel Studios offices on the Disney Studio lot.

From what I’ve heard, the costume that Carol Danvers’ will be wearing is inspired by the characters look from Kelly Sue DeConnick’s 2012/13 comic run. Thanks to Nerdist, we have a detailed description of three pieces of concept art that they were shown. They say:

“The first two featured Brie Larson in her costume, which appears to draw heavy inspiration from her classic comics suit. Though the design kept Captain Marvel’s signature eight-pointed star emblem square on the chest, its look and feel were more akin to Ant Man’s suit than Iron Man’s. Like a form-fitting armor, her suit is less spandex and more military grade, covering her whole body. Her iconic sash is more of a utility belt, favoring function over form. In the concept art she stands tall, staring off into the distance, looking hopeful but tough.”
