Spider-Man Screenwriter Talks Peter Parker’s Sense of Humor

Two weeks ago, a report surfaced naming Vacation directors John Francis Daley and Jonathan M. Goldstein as the writers on the highly-anticipated Spider-Man reboot. The pair were previously in contention to direct the film, which will be helmed by Jon Watts (Cop Car). Now, Daley and Goldstein have confirmed to NPR in a new interview that they will be writing the script for the film. JESSICA JONES Creator Raves About Marvel’s Upcoming Netflix Series

Just a few days ago, we got our first look at stars Krysten Ritter and Mike Colter on the set of Jessica Jones, the next in line of Marvel’s planned Netflix series leading up to The Defenders. (Ritter is playing the title character, and Colter is playing Luke Cage, who is eventually slated to get his own show a little farther down the line.) Writer Brian Michael Bendis, who created the character of Jessica Jones (with artist Michael Gaydos) in the Alias comic nearly fifteen years ago, has seen a few episodes of the new show, and he loves it. He took to Tumblr (via Screencrush) to finally let his feelings out: Continue reading

Kevin Feige Reveals When We’ll See Evangeline Lilly Suit Up as Wasp

Ant-Man had a fine opening weekend, but I don’t think it did the type of box office numbers the people at Marvel Studios were likely hoping for. That means that an immediate sequel may be less likely than it would have been otherwise, which could be disappointing for fans who were hoping to quickly see Evangeline Lilly’s Hope Van Dyne character don the Wasp suit and take action alongside Paul Rudd’s title hero. (Spoilers for Ant-Man ahead.) Continue reading

Hugh Jackman Confirms OLD MAN LOGAN As The Next WOLVERINE Movie

Hugh Jackman appropriately kicked off the X-Men portion of Fox’s Marvel panel, confirming (again) that the next Wolverine movie will be his last, and seemingly revealing that the James Mangold helmed release is going to be based on Mark Millar and Steve McNiven’s Old Man Logan

“I’ve got three words for you guys: Old Man Logan,” Hugh Jackman told the packed out Hall H panel for 20th Century Fox’s upcoming Marvel slate last night. Does that mean his third and final Wolverine movie is going to adapt that critically acclaimed comic book story? Maybe! Some major alterations will need to be made, but it does sound like the plan is to head in that direction.

The actor followed that comment up by saying, “As I promised, this next time is my last time putting on the claws, it’s one last time,” as the image you see below appeared behind him (it seems to be a promotional shot from a previous movie starring the character rather than a teaser image specifically shot for The Wolverine sequel).

I can tell you I am excited about this news. Are you? What are you hoping to see in the movie?oldmanlogan

Marisa Tomei Is Marvel’s New Spider-Man’s New Aunt May

Marisa Tomei Is Marvel's New Spider-Man's New Aunt May

As San Diego Comic-Con begins, we also get our first superhero movie casting. First up, Marisa Tomei has been cast as Spider-Man’s new aunt, filling the role once held by Sally Field and Rosemary Harris. Um, does anyone see a pattern here?

Marisa Tomei is currently 50. Sally Field was 66 when she played Aunt May in 2012’s Amazing Spider-Man, and Harris was 75 when Sam Raimi’s first Spider-Man histtheaters. Keep this up and I’m worried Kate Upton will be asking Peter if he wants some wheatcakes in 2025 or so.

Wesley Snipes On ‘Blade’

wesley snips the player pilot

Wesley Snipes brings a lot of legacy to the San Diego confab today and not just because he was here last year as one of the ensemble of The Expendables 3. The actor debuted as Blade back in 1998 when some of those in the current crop of Marvel movies were still in short pants. That vampire hunting character and the trio of pics that Snipes fronted as Blade will certainly be on the minds of many fans in Room 6A of the SD Convention Center for The Player panel this morning.

Before today’s SDCC appearance, Snipes chatted with me about his new NBC series from the team behind that other Comic-Con regular The Blacklist as well as the possibility of more Blade, other potential Marvel opportunities and some more action he has planned. Continue reading

Daredevil Has Cast Their Elektra for Season 2

With Froggy’s one throwaway line about a smokin’ Greek girl from Matt Murdock’s past, I was immediately excited about the impending emergence of Elektra in Netflix’s Daredevil. Now, I’m ecstatic to report that Elektra is certainly joining the cast of Season 2, and they’ve already cast the chosen a new up-and-comer to bring her to life on the small screen.
