Sith Luke? Jedi Leia? This Star Wars Battlefront 4 concept art is a treasure trove of ‘What if?’ designs

TODO alt text

The Star Wars universe is no stranger to the “what if” scenarios proposed by fans. What if the sides were flipped and Luke was a Sith? What if Leia had been the one to receive Jedi training instead of her brother? What if General Grievous wasn’t 99% metal? Well wonder no more, because new concept art from the long-ago cancelled Star Wars Battlefront 4 has surfaced, and it’s sure to scratch your alternate universe itch.

And no, that’s not a typo – this is allegedly concept art from Star Wars Battlefront 4, despite the fact that Star Wars Battlefront 3 never saw the light of day. How can that be? Pretty simple, really: as development on Battlefront 3 was coming to a close, teams were tasked with laying the groundwork for what was thought to be an inevitable sequel. That proved to be a fatal gamble when the shutdown of LucasArts put a damper on future plans, and developer Free Radical was closed shortly thereafter.

STAR WARS REBELS Producer Dave Filoni Says a New Series Announcement is Coming Soon

As Star Wars Rebels is about to come to an end, fans have been wondering what we are going to see next. We all know that another series is coming, but what will it be!? What story will it tell!? According to Star Wars Rebels producer David Filoni, we’ll find out soon.

During an interview with Animation Magazine, Filoni talked about his experience with working on Clone Wars and Rebels and in the process teased that an announcement is coming:

“George always treated our animation on Clone Wars the same way he treated film, it’s all part of his story. At times there’s a tendency to treat animation as an ‘other’ or as something for kids, and that’s not been my experience at Lucasfilm. We are telling stories and we happen to use the medium of animation to tell them.

“So I think that’s what the future holds. We have a lot of different ways to convey stories and we choose the best mediums and we are showing no sign of slowing, so the end of one thing always means the beginning of another, and soon people will learn what that other is.”

Lucasfilm Will Reportedly Start Shooting Their OBI-WAN KENOBI Movie in 2019 in Belfast

It looks like Lucasfilm might be farther along on the development of their Obi-Wan Kenobi movie than previously thought. It seems they are looking to shoot the film in Belfast at Paint Hall studios in the Titanic Quarter. This is where HBO’s Game of Thrones series is shot. According to the Belfast Telegraph, once production on Game of Thrones comes to an end, Lucasfilm will be moving in to start work on the Obi-Wan solo film. Apparently, they’ll start shooting in 2019. Oh, and George Lucas even visited Belfast to check out the shooting locations for the new film.

Movie mogul Lucas was pictured eating out in swanky Holywood restaurant Noble during his short Belfast visit. The snap led to frenzied speculation as to why he was visiting the city.

It’s understood that it was to give his seal of approval to the latest Star Wars spin-off being shot in Northern Ireland – a move that will pump millions of pounds into the local economy.

Lucas spent part of his time here last November being given a guided tour of the Paint Hall studios. Paint Hall sources said Lucas was hugely impressed by the Belfast studio.

George Lucas Was Developing a Han Solo Film Before Disney Bought Lucasfilm

Here’s an interesting bit of Star Wars trivia that I didn’t know until today! Solo: A Star Wars Story co-writer Lawrence Kasdan recently revealed in an interview with EW, that he was actually developing a standalone Han Solo film with George Lucas before Disney bought Lucasfilm.

If George Lucas wouldn’t have sold Lucasfilm to Disney, there’s a good chance that he was on the road to launching his own Star Wars expanded cinematic universe, which is pretty cool. According to the report:

Even before Lucasfilm was sold to Disney in 2012, launching a renaissance of galactic storytelling, Lawrence Kasdan had signed on to put together a Han Solo-centric movie.

Disney details new Star Wars hotel and Marvel attractions

During D23 Expo Japan 2018, Walt Disney Parks and Resorts Chairman Bob Chapek revealed new details about major expansion in progress across Walt Disney World Resort leading up to the 50th Anniversary. Here’s a look at what’s ahead for guests:

Toy Story Land

The fun will soar to infinity and beyond beginning this summer with the opening of Toy Story Land. This playful new 11-acre land will transport guests into the adventurous outdoors of Andy’s backyard where guests will feel like they have been shrunk to the size of Woody and Buzz, as they are surrounded by oversized toys. Using toys like building blocks, plastic buckets and shovels, and game board pieces, Andy has designed the perfect setting for this land that includes two major new attractions.

Slinky Dog Dash is a family-friendly coaster that will send riders dipping, dodging and dashing around turns and drops through the world of Andy’s toys. Guests can also spin around with little green aliens aboard Alien Swirling Saucers and quick refreshments will be on tap at Woody’s Lunch Box.

Disney Confirms They are Developing “a Few” STAR WARS TV Shows

We’ve already known that Lucasfilm has been developing been working on a live-action TV series for years. We figured that series, Star Wars: Underworld, would eventually end up being developed at Disney. Jabba The Hutt STAR WARS Spinoff Film in Development at Lucasfilm

theres-also-a-jabba-the-hutt-star-wars-spinoff-film-in-development-at-lucasfilm-social.jpg

Yesterday the big news hit that Lucasfilm was officially developing an Obi-Wan Kenobi film. This is something that a lot of fans were hoping were would see. It was also revealed that they were in talks with Billy Elliot director Stephen Daldry to direct it.

There was also a little piece of big news tucked away in an article by Variety that I hadn’t heard before. They say that on top of the Obi-Wan Kenobi movie and the Boba Fett movie that have been in development, they are also working on a Jabba The Hutt film!

I’ve never heard Jabba The Hutt being mentioned as a possible film before. The only time we’ve talked about the possibility of a Jabba The Hutt movie is when director Guillermo del Toro shared an idea that he had for it. When talking about it, he said:

“This is not real, this is me as a fat geek just geeking out and talking about it. I would do the sort of Godfather saga that Jabba the Hutt had to go through to gain control. One, because it’s the character that looks the most like me, and I like him. I love the idea of a Hutt type of mafia, a very complex coup. I just love the character.”

All I know is that I would love to watch a Jabba The Hutt Godfather-style gangster Star Wars movie! That would be amazing! You know what would be even more amazing!? If Del Toro actually came on board to direct it!

There’s no information on how far in development they are with the project, but a movie based on the underworld of the Star Wars universe, with Jabba The Hutt as the central figure could be pretty damn cool. What do you all think?

One Reason Why Lucasfilm Dropped The STAR WARS Extended Universe Was Because of Chewbacca

When Disney bought Lucasfilm and started on their journey to producing new Star Wars films, one of the first things they announced was that they would be ditching the Star Wars Extended Universe saying that none of it would be canon. This initially pissed a lot of fans off because the Extended Universe is full of great stories and characters.

There are actually many reasons why they decided to drop the Extended Universe and rebrand it into what is now called Star Wars Legends. Lucasfilm originally released a statement explaining why, but Star Wars Story Group member Leland Chee got a little more specific explaining that one reason came down to Chewbacca.

Why Chewbacca, you ask. Because Chewbacca was killed off in the Extended Universe and they wanted to play with that character in the films. While talking with SyFy.com, Chee, who also oversees The Holocron, which is basically Lucasfilm’s official version of Wookieepedia, had this to say:

Learn All About Captain Phasma’s Awesome Armor That Didn’t Really Help Her Much

learn-all-about-captain-phasmas-awesome-armor-that-didnt-really-help-her-much-social.jpg

I’ve been saying since I saw Star Wars: The Last Jedi that Captain Phasma is the new Boba Fett, and this video proves it. I mean that in the sense that her stories outside of the films are far more entertaining, and much like Fett, she died in a way that really undermines just how much of a bad ass she was. Take her armor for example, which I just now learned is blaster resistant and was once the property of Emperor Palpatine. It’s a damn shame we didn’t see that armor get put to better use, but I’m sure the expanded universe stories about her will make mention of it quite often. Learn the history of Phasma’s armor below, and let us know if you think she was a wasted character.
