It’s almost that time of the year again! Which means it’s pre-pre registration time for New York Comic Con tickets. Those that jumped through their hoops to get tickets last year, like myself, received a new message in their inboxes this morning. It’s from ReedPOP, the company that runs NYCC. It’s a typical newsletter sent to fans. The good news is that the dates for this year’s NYCC is October 5 – 8, 2017. But it includes one paragraph of what many might consider bad news…. Sigourney Weaver is Netflix’s biggest villain in Defenders
Marvel’s head of TV Jeph Loeb just announced that Sigourney Weaver will be the main villain in Netflix’s The Defenders. The surprise reveal was made at New York Comic Con, where fans got to see Weaver come onstage next to the Defenders themselves, Charlie Cox, Finn Jones, Krysten Ritter, and Mike Colter.
We don’t know what villain Weaver will play, but the casting is obviously big news. As essentially the first lady of sci-fi, Weaver is iconic for her roles in Ghostbusters, Avatar, and obviously the Alien series. We’re looking forward to whatever it is she does.
New York Comic-Con 2016 Will Be Stan Lee’s Last Appearance
Some sad news has arrived for all of you east coast True Believers out there…Perhaps one of the biggest reasons that we have fan conventions in general, Stan Lee will be making his last appearance at New York Comic-Con ever this year, the convention announced recently on their site. There’s no official reason why Lee has marked this year to be his last for the convention, though since the man is now 93 years old, I imagine traveling every year across the country to New York may sound a bit less appealing the older he gets. Is Marvel Studios’ INHUMANS Movie Going To Be Cancelled? – UPDATE
Here’s an interesting rumor regarding the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe: Rich Johnston at Bleeding Cool is reporting that that he overheard “well connected sources” in bars late at night after New York Comic Con saying that Marvel Studios plans to move the Inhumans movie completely off their release slate.
