Harry Potter Spinoff Movie FANTASTIC BEASTS AND WHERE TO FIND THEM, a release date

Warner Bros. has set a release date for their Harry Potter spinoff film, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. According to Exhibitor Relations, that date is November 18th, 2016.

The story takes place a number of years before the events of the Harry Potter books and films. It is loosely based on a book that J.K. Rowling wrote for charity. The film will tell an original story, and with it, Rowling will be making her screenwriting debut.

The book is a reproduction of a textbook owned by Harry Potter that was mentioned in the first Potter novel. The fictional textbook was written by a fictional magizoologist character named Newt Scamander. For those of you who aren’t up to speed on the Potter universe, Magizoology is the study of magical creatures.

It was previously reported that this story will be turned into a trilogy of films. While talking about the story Rowling said,

“Although it will be set in the worldwide community of witches and wizards where I was so happy for 17 years, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is neither a prequel nor a sequel to the Harry Potter series, but an extension of the wizarding world. The laws and customs of the hidden magical society will be familiar to anyone who has read the Harry Potter books or seen the films, but Newt’s story will start in New York, 70 years before Harry’s gets underway.”

What are your thoughts?  I am not a huge harry potter fan  but i know there are many that are!

Kick-Ass 3?

aaron-taylor-johnson-isnt-ruling-out-kick-ass-3

During a press conference for Godzilla, actor Aaron Taylor-Johnson was asked about possibly returning for a third Kick-Ass film. He may not be contractually obligated to star in Kick-Ass 3, but he’s open to it if it happens. His co-star Bryan Cranston also chimed in and jokes about wanting to see Kick-Ass VS. Godzilla, which is something I think we’d all love to see! Continue reading

Joe Quesada Offers Details on DAREDEVIL Series

In a recent interview with CBR, Marvel’s chief creative officer Joe Quesada talked a little bit about their upcoming Daredevil Netflix series. The series is currently being developed by Cabin in the Woods director and co-writer Drew Goddard. This will be the first of the four new series that are being made, and I can’t wait to see what Marvel does with this character. One of the coolest things he had to say is that the show is being planned as essentially one 13 hour long movie!

Here’s the part of the Q&A where Quesada discusses the Man Without Fear:

With the Netflix shows, we know a little bit about it at this point — the list of shows, that “Daredevil” is the first one going into production, and that Drew Goddard is heading that series up as showrunner. Have you been working closely with the writers on that one? What’s your level of involvement with “Daredevil”?

“I’ve been working very, very closely with the entire team on all levels of the show. I think everybody knows my relationship with the character of Daredevil, and how important the character is to me — not just on an emotional front, but on a professional front. How DD brought me back here to Marvel, and how instrumental he was to even me being in this particular position I’m in today. I’m very involved with the show, as well as everything that we’re doing with the Netflix shows. I’m incredibly excited, plus the dark and gritty noir world of DD and the Netflix characters, it’s kind of where I live so it naturally attracts me to begin with.”

It’s fair to say a lot of people weren’t satisfied with the last live-action “Daredevil.” How much is the goal to really get it right this time, and maybe erase some of the negative thoughts people had with the past live-action Daredevil?

“Let me be clear, we’re not going into this show with the idea of trying to erase the memory of anything that came before or really any preconceived notions whatsoever. We’re going into the show trying to create something that’s incredibly exciting, incredibly engaging, and will give our fans something that they love, something that’s unexpected, something that’s going to keep them coming back for more. That’s really, ultimately, the goal of this: How do we produce a “Daredevil” TV show on Netflix, that’s going to be viewed the way that people view content on Netflix, in a way that’s going to be compelling, feels unique, while bringing something that is not only true to the character, but providing something unexpected as well.”

Right now Marvel has both a show on a traditional network, “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,” and multiple Netflix series in the works. What do you see from the creative side as some of the advantages of the Netflix format, and the “everything all at once” rollout that their shows get?

“One of the advantages is really from the planning stage — obviously it’s much easier to work with a smaller number of episodes than it is with a larger number of episodes. We can sit there and look at 13 episodes and plan it out as a very large movie. It makes seeing the bigger picture a little bit easier. You can’t deny that there will be binge-viewing. You know that there are going to be some Marvel fans that when this show premieres, they are going to go on to Netflix, and they are going to sit there for 12 to 13-plus hours, and watch the entire thing all the way through… Even the way that you parse out information and reveals within the show can be different than you would on weekly TV. With weekly TV, you sit there and go, “The audience may not want to wait two or three weeks to get this particular bit of information.” Whereas with Netflix, we might be able to hold onto a particular piece of information, because they may just watch it two hours later.”

I am wondering what can be  done for this series and if it has what it takes to be a decent tv show!  Only time will tell I am hoping its going to be  good. What do you think? we want to know!

H.R. Giger Has Died at the Age of 74, alien artist!

On a more somber note, iconic artist H.R. Giger has passed away after suffering a fall.

THR reported that the man who designed the Xenomorphs in all of the Alien movies died in a hospital on Monday after suffering a fall in his museum. Here is what they had to say about him:

“Giger’s works, often showing macabre scenes of humans and machines fused into hellish hybrids, influenced a generation of movie directors and inspired an enduring fashion for ‘biomechanical’ tattoos.”

Giger’s work is amazing to look at; it has a very hard but beautiful quality to it. His classic monochromatic, futuristic style is loved by fans all over the world and has inspired people to emulate his work via tattoos. This, to Giger, was the highest form of flattery. This is what he had to say in an interview with Seconds magazine in 1994 about his work:

“The greatest compliment is when people get tattooed with my work, whether it’s done well or not. To wear something like that your whole life is the largest compliment someone can pay to you as an artist.”

He was a true artist till the very end!  Everyone loved the  work he was able to do!  Will you miss what he did and  could do!  What are your thoughts?

Roberto Orci confirmed to Direct Star Trek 3

Roberto-Orci star trek 3

After weeks of rumblings that Roberto Orci was the frontrunner, sources have told Variety that Skydance and Paramount have indeed tapped Orci to direct Paramount and Skydance’s “Star Trek 3.”

Orci is currently writing the story with J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay and had been campaigning to replace J.J. Abrams as director for some time. Abrams is busy with directing the next installment of the “Star Wars” franchise and will only be producing this pic.

Par, Skydance and his reps had no comment.

Plot details are unknown, but cast members including Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto are expected to return. Abrams will produce along with his producing partner Bryan Burke and Skydance’s David Ellison.

The news comes after Orci and longtime writing partner Alex Kurtzman decided to go their separate ways on future filmmaking endeavors (although their TV production company is staying intact). Sources had told Variety that both were looking to direct more pics and that going solo would be in the best interest of both parties.

what are your thoughts to this man directing the next star trek film?

tatum gambit 3Following the reveal this morning that Channing Tatum will play the X-Men character Gambit, The Hollywood Reporter has learned that he will in fact debut in 2016’s X-Men: Apocalypse right before appearing in his own solo spin-off film.

Though no writer or director have been attached to the project, it’s possible that “Gambit” could be the “Untitled FOX Marvel Movie” which is currently set for release on July 18, 2018. Check back for more information on the project as we learn it. What do you think of Tatum’s casting as Gambit?

Created by Chris Claremont and Jim Lee in 1990, the New Orleans native mutant quickly became a fan favorite due to his kinetic energy manipulation abilities and penchant for stealing. The character’s only big screen appearance to date (outside his name being featured as an Easter egg in X2) was in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, played by Taylor Kitsch.

The Fantastic Four Adds Reg E. Cathey as Sue and Johnny Storm’s Father

Reg E. Cathey
With production having officially started this week for The Fantastic Four, The Hollywood Reporter brings word that “The Wire” and “House of Cards” actor Reg E. Cathey has joined the cast of the film as Dr. Franklin Storm, the father of Sue (Kate Mara) and Johnny Storm (Michael B. Jordan).

Accused of murder and thought to be dead in the first volume of the comic series, Dr. Storm actually operated on and saved his daughter’s life when she suffered a life threatening injury at the hands of the Mole Man. Following his actual death just one issue later, Sue and Reed named their first child Franklin after him. In Marvel’s “Ultimate” universe, however, Dr. Storm is partially responsible for the creation of the Fantastic Four. Could we be seeing this version of the character on the big screen?

Jamie Bell, Jordan, Mara and Miles Teller will play the titular team in the upcoming film, which will also see Toby Kebbell as Victor Von Doom and Tim Blake Nelson as Harvey Elder, aka The Mole Man. Directed by Josh Trank, The Fantastic Four is set for release on June 19, 2015.

343 won’t confirm Halo 5 for 2014 despite surprise video mention

HaloAdventurer, below you lurks a new Xbox One sizzle video that’s mostly a collection of lingering hardware close-ups. There is, however, one Point of Interest: the magical phrase “Halo 5” is visible during a shot of the console’s UI. Your choices at this point are twofold: you could jump around ecstatically at the idea that Halo 5 is most definitely and certainly A Thing. Or, you could read this enthusiasm-killing clarification from developer 343 Industries.

“The Xbox One dashboard images shown in the recently released Xbox One Design Show video, were placeholder and not indicative of future game content,” it reads. “As previously stated, your next Halo journey will begin in 2014, and we’ll have more detail to share at E3 in June.”

If you’ve read any of recent rumours about the first Halo game on Xbox One, you’ll gloss “your next Halo journey will begin” as “we’re making Halo 2 Anniversary first”. The latter is said to be down for release in November, and will allegedly grant access to a Halo 5 beta. Various sources claim that 343 – which has teased unannounced projects in addition to Halo for Xbox One and the Halo TV series – has enlisted Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary co-developers Saber Interactive and Certain Affinity to help out.
