Zac Efron up for Marvel Role?

We recently touched upon this in our article speculating about the Namor film, but it seems Marvel has reached out to Zac Efron (hot off the hit comedy Neighbors) for an unspecified role in an upcoming project that has a finished script. But what project? Time to speculate wildly!

Daredevil

This seems to be the most popular guess. Seeing that this is the first Marvel/Netflix show to air, it would sort of make sense that the project has a finished script. But I just don’t like the idea of Efron playing the protector of Hell’s Kitchen. In my mind, Matt Murdock should be a little older. After all, he is an accomplished lawyer. I just can’t imagine Efron in the role.

Iron Fist

Danny Rand. The Living Weapon. Most of Efron’s role in Neighbors has him shirtless. The guy is ripped! Danny Rand is all about physical action and fighting with the spiritual chi. This is by far the one role I can see Efron inhabiting and kicking ass. They could make the character a bit younger and it would still work.

Namor

Now this is what my fellow writer Joey Paur speculated, but I don’t understand how this would work, as Universal owns the rights and the rumor is that he met with Marvel.

Nova (Richard Rider)

Richard Rider is the Nova member everyone thinks about when they hear Nova Corps. I wonder if there will be any allusions to him in the upcoming Guardians film.

The Walking Dead’s season 5 Father Gabriel: Everything You Need to Know

Father Stoke will here your prayers now

The Walking Dead recently added another Wire alum to it’s roster, recruiting Seth Gilliam for Season 5. While he’s “officially” been slated to star as Michael Todd, many fans – myself included – think this is a cover, and GIlliam will actually be playing Father Gabriel Stokes – one of the most influential – and unhinged – characters from the comic book source material.

So to get you prepared for the arrival of the holy man – and to give you some cool facts you can show off to your buddies – here’s everything you need to know about Gabriel Stokes.

Warning: there be spoilers this way.

  • Gabriel Stokes first appeared in Issue 61 of the comics, meeting Rick and the group travelling on the road after they’d escaped the Governor’s attack on the prison.
  • On the show the group is trying to bust out of Terminus and head to Washington DC, so it’s logical to assume they will run into Stokes on their journey north.
  • Before the world went to shit and the dead began to roam the earth, Stokes was the reverend of a local community church in Georgia.
  • However, Stokes is not as pious as he seems. He confesses to Rick that he turned away survivors during the early days of the zombie outbreak and listened to the screams of the dying men, woman and children as they were ravaged by walkers outside the church walls.
  • The church later becomes a target for a different group of flesh-eaters: the Hunters. Rick and the group become prey, with Dale getting kidnapped and losing a leg to the cannibals.
  • Stokes is forced to join a search party to track down the Hunters. When they are found, Rick brutally tortures and murders them in front of the reverend. When Stokes expresses outrage at the act, Rick tells him he was no better when he turned away the helpless survivors from his church.
  • On the show, there’s a chance Stokes is the person who took Beth from the funeral parlor – the car that drove off with her in the trunk sported a crucifix.

With filming now underway on The Walking Dead Season 5, we should start seeing more casting updates in the coming weeks. Stick close and we’ll keep you updated on all things zombie.

what do you think? are we  going to see  father in the next season or not?

Sigourney Weaver Confirms She’ll Return for AVATAR Sequels

sigourney-weaver-confirms-shell-return-for-avatar-sequels

James Cameron is deep in pre-production for his next three Avatar movies, and far as actors go, right now it stars Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, and Stephen Lang, and there’s even a rumor that Arnold Schwarzenegger will be a part of it. It was a safe bet to assume that Sigourney Weaver would be a part of these sequels, and now she has confirmed it in an interview with Vulture. She even talks a little bit about what we can expect from her character saying,

“It’s going to be an adventure! It will be awesome. I can’t even imagine what I am taking on —  and what James Cameron is taking on — with filming three AVATARs at once, but … Peter Jackson did it with the HOBBIT films, so we have that to look to. It will be challenging for me. I can’t talk about it, but my part is a little different in each one. I’ll transform somewhat. We’ll have to talk again when I survive this. For now, I’m going to skittle around and enjoy this leisure time.”

It’s interesting how she talks about her character transforming from one movie to the next. In the first movie her character failed to link up with the “Tree of Souls,” but maybe there is something on the planet of Pandora that helps them resurrect Dr. Augustine in some way? It’s not out of the realm of possibility in a fantasy sci-fi film like this. Whatever happens with her character, it will be great to see Weaver return.

petition and pieces that went missing from the amazing spider-man 2 movie

Consider releasing a directors cut version of "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" to the general public on Blue-Ray and DVD.
  • Petitioning Sony Pictures and Director Marc Webb

Consider releasing a directors cut version of “The Amazing Spider-Man 2” to the general public on Blue-Ray and DVD.

Unfortunately, the film is getting a lot of hate from critics worldwide, as we can see from the Rotten Tomatoes Score.

In particular, we have seen complaints commonly arise, such as a “disjointed narrative” and a “lack of character development”.

I think, as polarising as the film is, we can all agree as fans that a directors cut of the film would be incredibly benificial to the franchise.

Some of the scenes rumoured to be in rough cuts but left out in the the final cut shown in cinemas everywhere are;

  • An attack on Oscorp by the Green Goblin
  • An alternate scene in which a tumultuous scene is portrayed differently
  • Extended Times Square and Clocktower scenes
  • Another Peter/Gwen scene.
  • A scene with Max and his Mother
  • A possible espionage plotline in regards to Oscorp.
  • Mary Jane scenes
  • Norman Osborn “Head Scene”

I think it is clear, as fans of the spider-man franchise, that we should see what the ultimate vision of the director was. I think it is important that we can see the directors cut of the film, regardless of how long it is, so we can properly appreciate the huge amount of effort that went into the film. I think as fans, we could really appreciate this! The audience still enjoyed the film, as evidenced by the audience rating on Rotten Tomatoes, but I think the film has the potential to be even greater in a directors cut.

The scenes I mentioned have been hinted at through interviews with Marc Webb. Other scenes mentioned were in a rough cut shown to a select few in March of this year. It is clear these scenes are not only filmed, but done over with CGI, as evidenced by the viewers of the rough cut of the film. Whilst it isn’t perfect, there is no reason why this could not work in a directors cut.

I must add that I feel that some of these scenes would tie up plot holes, and serve as transition scenes in order to make the tone feel more natural throughout the movie, an extra max scene would help the audience sympathise with him more, and an extra goblin scene would make his appearance seem a little less rushed.

Support the idea? Please share this to spiderman fans everywhere, and especially Marc Webb. He is quite active on twitter, so I strongly believe a large enough push from the Spider-Man fanbase could convince him to respond to this.

Amazing Spider-Fans to Sony: Release the Deleted Scenes

Did you feel that there was something missing from The Amazing Spider-Man 2? Something that would tie the whole movie together? A number of somethings, even? Some visual, almost scenic things which, added into the movie, would make it a better whole?

Well, if so, then you’re not alone. Whats more, a petition has gone up on change.org asking Sony to release a director’s cut of the film, including scenes that were spotted in Teaser Trailers, but not in the final release.

The petition also asks fans to share the idea not only with Spider-Fans everywhere, but specifically with Marc Webb, the film’s director.

It’s an interesting approach – chasing the director of a film to produce a director’s cut, only weeks after it’s initial release.

I know  i felt like there was  alot missing  and i know  i would like to see a r rated directors cut and  more  extended  scenes!  where are you with all this?

Adam Driver as Han Solo’s Son in STAR WARS: EPISODE VII

is-adam-driver-playing-han-solos-son-in-star-wars-episode-vii

When is was first announced that Girls actor Adam Driver had been cast in Star Wars: Episode VII, word on the street was he would be playing the main villainous Sith in the J.J. Abrams-directed film. It looks like there’s a little bit more to it than that, though. According to a source for Jedi News, Driver will also be playing the son of Han Solo (Harrison Ford) and Princess Leia (Carrie Fisher). Here are the details they offer in their report.

Possible SPOILERS ahead:

“Sounds like Adam Driver is NOT going to play a villain…sort of. He will be playing the son of Han and Leia, and it seems he will be seduced to the Dark Side, and a main plot point for the movie will be their attempt to rescue him.”

This is just a rumor at the moment, but a rumor that could turn out to be true. I think that Driver has the perfect look for a dark, Sith villain, but now that this rumor has been thrown out there, I can kind of see him playing the son of Han and Leia as well.

It is exciting to see this all come together what  are your  thoughts to the whole universe just suddenly expanding and  ideas  coming around?

Marvel’s New Series AGENT CARTER, Poster

marvels-new-series-agent-carter-has-a-poster

In another attempt to keep the success ball rolling, Marvel has announced that they are going to make a spin-off of Captain America called Marvel’s Agent Carter. They’ve already released a teaser poster for the show that you can check out above. Here’s the synopsis:

“Marvel’s Agent Carter,” starring Captain America’s Hayley Atwell follows the story of Peggy Carter. It’s 1946, and peace has dealt Peggy Carter a serious blow as she finds herself marginalized when the men return home from fighting abroad. Working for the covert SSR (Strategic Scientific Reserve), Peggy must balance doing administrative work and going on secret missions for Howard Stark all while trying to navigate life as a single woman in America, in the wake of losing the love of her life–Steve Rogers. Inspired by the feature films “Captain America: The First Avenger” and “Captain America: The Winter Soldier,” along with the short “Marvel One-Shot: Agent Carter.” Starring Hayley Atwell as Agent Peggy Carter, “Marvel’s Agent Carter” is executive produced by Christopher Markus, Steve McFeely, Tara Butters, Michele Fazekas, Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, Jeph Loeb.

I am not so sure about this i am starting to wonder if marvel is starting to stretch their resources too thin.  Time will tell!  I  didnt much like  agents of shield when it first aired! what are your thoughts?

Wedge Antilles actor rejected ‘Star Wars: Episode VII’ role

https://i1.wp.com/talkbacker.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/star_wars-Wedge_Antilles_1.jpg?resize=584%2C305

One of Star Wars‘ best pilots won’t be returning in Episode VII. Denis Lawson, who played Rebel ace Wedge Antilles in the original trilogy, has confirmed that he turned down the chance to return in the upcoming Star Wars sequel. Speaking at a screening of his new movie, The Machine, Lawson said “they asked me but it just would have bored me.”

Wedge — not to be confused with the Captain Antilles strangled by Darth Vader minutes into Episode IV — appeared as a hotshot pilot in all three original movies. While his part was minor, Wedge notably helped save Luke Skywalker during his attack on the first Death Star, survived the battle of Hoth, and contributed to the destruction of the second by flying into its core alongside Lando Calrissian. According to Badass Digest, Lawson suggested he might have returned if the role was increased in scope, but ultimately rejected the offer.

Wedge Antilles survived all three original movies

While his screentime in the original trilogy was limited, the Corellian ace found a greater role in Star Wars‘ Expanded Universe. Wedge, lest we forget as 30 years of Star Wars lore is whitewashed, was front and center in almost all of that far-off galaxy’s major post-Return of the Jedi tribulations. He commanded elite Rogue and Wraith Squadrons, helped Death Star engineer Qwi Xux regain her memory, solved the bacta crisis, played an important role in beating back the Yuuzhan Vong menace, and fought for Corellia for a time against the increasingly authoritarian Galactic Alliance.

While we likely won’t see an on-screen Wedge worthy of his Expanded Universe exploits, it’s not yet clear whether in Lawson’s absence, the role will be recast. For the sake of Episode VII‘s new republic, or if only to see a fan favorite back on the big screen, we can hope it is.

I know i would of liked to seen wedge back it  just  give the  feel it needs to be.  but  for him to say it would  bore him is  ridiculous  he  should of been honored to be asked back into the series!  what are your thoughts?
