Justice League: J.K. Simmons to Play Commissioner Gordon

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Oscar-winning actor—who played J. Jonah Jameson in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy—joins Ben Affleck’s Batman, Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman and Henry Cavill’s Man of Steel in the superhero ensemble, which will be directed by Zack Snyder.
Simmons has been involved in a number of recent films, including 2015’s Whiplash, for which he won an Oscar for best supporting actor. He also voiced Mayor Lionheart in Disney’s animated film Zootopia, which debuted to record-breaking numbers.
Justice League: Part One opens on November 17, 2017 and begins filming next month. Meanwhile, Justice League: Part Two will make its theatrical debut on June 14, 2019. In addition to Simmons, Cavill, Affleck and Gadot, the superhero flick will also feature Jason Momoa as Aquaman, Ezra Miller as The Flash and Ray Fisher as Cyborg. Unfortunately for Green Lantern fans, the wait for the emerald crusader’s silver screen arrival will be a bit longer, as producer Charles Roven has confirmed Green Lantern won’t be in Part One and won’t appear until Part Two or possibly even later.
