HBO is prepping to go into production on their adaptation of Michael Crichton‘s 1973 film, Westworld. J.J. Abrams is producing the series, and the pilot episode is being co-written and directed by Jonathan Nolan. The cable network has also just cast Anthony Hopkins and Evan Rachel Wood in the new series. The thriller is described as a “dark odyssey about the dawn of artificial consciousness and the future of sin.”

Hopkins is set to play Dr. Robert Ford, “the brilliant, taciturn and complicated creative director, chief programmer and chairman of the board of Westworld, who has an uncompromising creative vision for the park — and unorthodox methods of achieving it.” As for Wood, she will take on the role of Dolores Abernathy, “the quintessential farm girl of the frontier West — who is about to discover that her entire idyllic existence is an elaborately constructed lie.”

The fact that they got Hopkins is fantastic! It just shows you the potential that this series has. I’m a fan of the original movie, and I’m confident that this series will be even better. It’s got such a solid team of talent behind it.

The original flick centers on a robot that malfunctions and creates havoc and terror for unsuspecting vacationers at a futuristic, adult-themed amusement park.https://i1.wp.com/static.squarespace.com/static/51b3dc8ee4b051b96ceb10de/53d02d30e4b01edbad4baca8/53d02d32e4b0dfd1510a4891/1406151992225/evan-rachel-wood-photo.jpg?resize=392%2C296

Warner Bros. and director Zack Snyder have released the first official image of actress Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and it’s hard to deny that she looks badass. That costume she’s wearing is pretty spectacular. I wasn’t very optimistic when she was cast in the movie, but maybe there’s a chance that she’ll be awesome. I can’t wait to see her in action.

This is pretty awesome!  she looks great!  Now i am curious what everyone else looks like!

Will Ferrell, Adam McKay Producing ‘Manimal’ Movie at Sony Animation

Will Ferrell Manimal

Sony Pictures Animation is going animalistic, developing a movie version of “Manimal,” rebooting the TV series as an action-comedy combining animation and live action.

Producers are Jimmy Miller’s Mosaic, Will Ferrell and Adam McKay’s Gary Sanchez Productions and original series co-creator Glen A. Larson.

The original series ran from Sept. 30 to Dec. 17, 1983, on NBC and starred Simon MacCorkindale as a man possessing the ability to turn himself into any animal and using that ability to help police catch criminals.

Jay Martel and Ian Roberts are writing the script. The duo are the showrunners on “Key & Peele” and wrote the screenplay for Warner Bros.’ upcoming comedy “Get Hard” starring Ferrell and Kevin Hart.

Sony Animation’s Michelle Raimo Kouyate and Michael Lachance will oversee the project.

Mosaic’s comedy credits include “The Other Guys” and “Step Brothers” with Ferrell along with “Bad Teacher” and “Talladega Nights.”

Larson is best known for creating “Battlestar Galactica,” “Knight Rider” and “Magnum, P.I.”

“Like ‘The Catcher in the Rye’ or ‘The Sound and the Fury,’ ‘Manimal’ has always been one of those elusive projects every producer dreams of taking to the silver screen,” McKay said. “I know the movie will be funny and entertaining but will it be the first film to win a Pulitzer? We’ll just have to see.”

Mondo Announces Toy Line, Will Break the Internet With IRON GIANT Figures

Mondo announced the latest step in their campaign to acquire all of the monies of movie geeks the world over, kicking off a new line of toys with figures based on Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, the master of suspense, Alfred Hitchcock, and the Iron m-f’ing Giant.

The pair of figures from latter will probably sell out quickly if Mondo is doing its usual limited run thing. Mondo is releasing both a 16? tall replica of the Iron Giant himself as well as a 6? bolt prop from the film. The Iron Giant will have 30 points of articulation, lights, accessory pieces of scrap metal, a gun (for his “War” transformation), an “S” insignia, and an accompanying Hovarth figure. Mondo didn’t make pricing available in the announcement.

It’s kind of a coup for the 15-year-old movie, which was largely abandoned by Warner Bros. and received almost no marketing support (and zero toys) during its release. Well, that’s not entirely true: early VHS copies included a little plastic version of the alien robot, but there was really nothing else to commemorate the release.

And if you haven’t found enough Ninja Turtles swag to break your bank with the series’ 30th anniversary, Mondo has announced a pair of figures making their debut during the Con. The first is the Lil Mikey Vinyl Figure, reproducing Mike Mitchell’s chibi-style Michelangelo design which would have been right at home during the ongoing iam8bit gallery show.

Lil Mikey will be joined by The First Turtle, an early “joke” design from co-creators Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird. This derpy turtle is getting a black and white, 6? figure.

Finally, old Hitch is getting a 1/6-scale figure, complete with director’s chair, cigars, props, interchangeable props and hands.

The new line of toys will make its debut during Comic-Con at booth #835, with more details about release date and preorder opportunities to happen soon-ish via the Mondo News twitter account.

Xbox Entertainment has released four photos from their digital series Halo: Nightfall. They features actor Mike Colter, who plays the lead character Agent Locke. This character will also play a major role in the upcoming video game Halo 5: Guardians.

According to Variety, Colter plays “an agent with the Office of Naval Intelligence (ONI) whose team is sent to investigate terrorist activity on a distant colony world and are eventually drawn to an ancient, hellish artifact during their search.”

The series is being directed by Sergio Mimica-Gezzan (Falling Skies, Battlestar Gallactica) from a script by Paul Scheuring (Prison Break). Colter had this to say in statement:

“The script was incredibly gripping. It introduces an intriguing and mysterious world that I wanted to know more about… My favorite experience thus far would be shooting a scene in Belfast where I’m chasing an enemy who poses a serious threat to the people Agent Locke has sworn to protect through the city. The scene is an action-packed sequence that involves some cool special effects and a lot of coordination with the stunt team to fulfill the director’s vision. I can’t wait to see how it turns out.”

Ridley Scott and David Zucker are executive producing the project, and it will be released before the end of 2014. https://i0.wp.com/static.squarespace.com/static/51b3dc8ee4b051b96ceb10de/53cebf97e4b060480078e469/53cebf98e4b0a5fdf5e7c6d7/1406058469650/hr_Halo_Nightfall_2.jpg?w=584https://i0.wp.com/static.squarespace.com/static/51b3dc8ee4b051b96ceb10de/53cebf97e4b060480078e469/53cebf98e4b0eb57e5fc9a4a/1406058393641/hr_Halo_Nightfall_3.jpg?w=584https://i1.wp.com/static.squarespace.com/static/51b3dc8ee4b051b96ceb10de/53cebf97e4b060480078e469/53cebf98e4b0ffc87f7fc2d1/1406058393904/hr_Halo_Nightfall_4.jpg?w=584

Gwendoline Christie’s Role in STAR WARS EPISODE VII Revealed

http://static.squarespace.com/static/51b3dc8ee4b051b96ceb10de/t/53ced177e4b0bbe1d5858244/1406062995337/gwendoline-christies-role-revealed-in-star-wars-episode-vii?format=500w

Here’s some more Star Wars: Episode VII information from Badass Digest that you might be interested in reading. This is the site that gave us some interesting story information on the film last weekend. This following bit of news might be considered a spoiler for some, but I don’t think it is. If you don’t want to know anything about the movie, though, then you shouldn’t have clicked on the link!

The information reveals some information on the character that Game of Thrones‘ Gwendoline Christie plays in the J.J. Abrams directed film.

According to inside sources, she will be playing John Boyega‘s commanding imperial officer in story. Apparently, she’s pissed off that he deserted, so she has gone on a mission to hunt him down.

The site goes on to say that the actress has been seen training with a lightsaber. So is she a Sith as well as an Imperial Officer? We can only hope so! She would make a great Sith.

The report goes on to speculate that she was cast in the role that Benedict Cumberbatch was in talks for and that they just switched the character’s gender. There’s no solid confirmation on that, but it makes sense if they did.

sounds like its  going to be a great role what  do you think?

GOTHAM Will Include Older Harvey Dent and Hugo Strange

https://i1.wp.com/static.squarespace.com/static/51b3dc8ee4b051b96ceb10de/t/53ce88dde4b0e7d8eb42da42/1406044391085/hugo_strange_by_scotchlover-d5gy4xu.png?w=584

We can now add a couple more characters to the list of villains that we will see in Gotham. So far we have Catwoman, Penguin, Riddler, Poison Ivy, and Joker making appearances, but now it looks like Doctor Hugo Strange will be included along with an older version of Harvey Dent.

IGN had an opportunity to talk to show runner Bruno Heller about the series, and this is what he had to say regarding Strange andArkham:

“Hugo Strange is going to pop up because we’re going to start dealing with how Arkham was created and why Arkham was created in the way that it was so, yeah, absolutely. It’s a Season One thing because in our telling of it the way Arkham was created and the why and how is one of the causes of the particular criminal climate in Gotham that allowed Batman to happen. The revolving door of Arkham is both a brilliant narrative device because it allows you to — you don’t have to kill people off, you can just put them in cold storage — but if you’re telling the story from the start you kind of have to explain, ‘What the f***? Why don’t you make that place a place people don’t escape from?’ We’re going to explain why it is the way it is and Hugo Strange is a big part of that.”

Strange is a great character, and I’m really excited that he is going to play a decent sized role in the series. I’m curious to see how they are going to handle this whole aspect of the world of Gotham. As far as Dent goes, he explains:

“We’re playing Harvey Dent slightly older. He’s more Gordon’s age in this telling. One of the things to avoid in order not to tell a high school story — which would be great, but it’s a different show on a different network at a different time that I would not be a part of. But he will go back to school and villains will be part of that world.”

what are you thought about how the charcater is being handled?  we want to know!

futire of iron man played by downey!

Robert Downey Jr. Weighs In On The State Of Iron Man 4 imageRight now, Robert Downey Jr. is the man with one of the most powerful franchises in his hand. If it were up to Marvel, they would have a new Iron Man film out every year, since the last film was a billion dollar hit. But for now, all parties involved are holding steadfast on Downey Jr.’s contract, which stipulates two more Avengers films and no further solo Iron Man adventures. Could Downey possibly change his mind about not coming back to the solo films?

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly (who seriously have the Marvel hookup), Downey reveals that he’s absolutely up for more, but that it depends on “negotiations.” Which is what people like Downey Jr. call money.

“It’s down to Kevin [Feige, Marvel Studios president] and Ike [Perlmutter, CEO of Marvel Entertainment] and Disney to come to us with what the proposal is, and that’s on us to agree or disagree. When things are going great, there’s a lot of agreement… It’s that thing of: Why give up the belt when it feels like you can barely get jabbed?”

Downey finished 2013 as the year’s highest paid actor due to the massive $75 million he recouped through back-end deals in Iron Man 3. He’ll receive a similar amount for next year’s Avengers: Age Of Ultron, provided the film performs up to expectations and makes a comical amount of money. And outside of that, his career is going swimmingly: later this year he’s got The Judge and he can always return to the Sherlock Holmes films. Beyond that, it seems certain we can find an A-List director willing to work with him. That Robert Downey Jr. is sure to make something of himself soon.

In other words, Iron Man made him what he is, but Downey doesn’t need the suit anymore, nor does he wish for it to define him. Early reports on Avengers: Age Of Ultron, however, suggest he’s got a smaller supporting role this time around. Is his desire to downplay Tony Stark going to result in the marginalization of his most beloved role?

The flip side is, does anyone want to see a 55 or 60 year old Tony Stark? Downey basically thinks there’s a chance they could run this character ragged, but that hasn’t stopped Marvel from getting Captain America and Thor into four movies in five years with next year’s Age Of Ultron. Is Robert Downey Jr. basically questioning the Marvel model? Or is wearing that suit just a cumbersome pain in the ass?

Perhaps Downey knows the limitations of the character. How many more Iron Man stories can you tell? There are a number of good ones in the comics, but many of them either render Tony Stark static, depict him as a jerk, or find a way to re-establish just another status quo. Maybe Downey realizes the pratfalls of repeating himself: after all, that second Sherlock Holmes collected over half a billion dollars at the box office, but no sequel is forthcoming. Robert Downey Jr. holds the keys to the Tony Stark empire, and he’s not ready to relinquish them yet.
