SINISTER SIX Movie Has a Release Date

Last week there was a rumor about Sony Pictures’ Sinister Six film being cancelled. I never posted the rumors because it sounded like pure speculation, and it was. The studio has announced that they will release the villainous Spider-Man spin-off film on November 11th, 2016. The Amazing Spider-Man 3 will follow a couple years later and is going to be released in 2018. It was supposed to be June 10th, 2016, but Sony moved their Uncharted film adaptation into that spot.

Drew Goddard (Cabin in the Woods) is attached to write the film, which will expand the Spider-Man cinematic universe. He may end up directing it as well.

The supervillains first appeared in 1964, and they included Doctor Octopus, Electro, Kraven the Hunter, Mysterio, Sandman, and the Vulture. I assume Spider-Man is also going to be a main character in this film. I don’t see how they could make a movie without him. Both projects will be produced by Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach.

We are extremely excited to officially announce today, Hot Toys has acquired the right to manufacture 1/6th scale and 1/4th scale collectible figures from the STAR WARS universe, including the upcoming highly anticipated Star Wars Episode VII that is set to hit theatres in December, 2015. J.J. Abrams Reveals X-Wing in New Star Wars: Force for Change Video

On the set of Star Wars: Episode VII, director J.J. Abrams was interrupted by an X-Wing pilot and rogue robot as he announced the chance for fans to win an advance private screening of Star Wars: Episode VII.

“We are so grateful for the support that the fans from over 119 countries have shown for Force for Change,” said Abrams. “As we close this final week, we’ve added an additional prize that allows the fans the opportunity to see the movie early as a thank you for supporting such a great cause as UNICEF’s innovative, lifesaving work for children.” By contributing at any level by July 25th, participants will be eligible for all prizes including a chance to be in the movie.

“Star Wars: Force for Change” impressively raised over one million dollars within the first 24 hours of its launch – a record for Omaze, the fundraising platform. So far contributors from 119 countries around the world have backed “Force for Change,” in support of the United Nations Children’s Fund’s (UNICEF) Innovation Labs and programs. UNICEF’s network of 14 Innovation Labs help create sustainable solutions to critical issues facing children around the world in the areas of nutrition, water, health, and education. The funds raised through “Star Wars: Force for Change” will impact the lives of children around the world, through projects like MobiStation, a portable, solar-powered educational kit to ensure children have access to quality learning anywhere, and Rapid FTR (Family Tracing and Reunification), a mobile phone application that helps reunite separated and unaccompanied children with their families in natural disasters. Fans can continue to pledge support and enter for a chance win until 11:59pm on July 25.

The “Star Wars: Force for Change” Grand Prize includes:

Dwayne Johnson Confirmes DC Comics Role, Is It Shazam?

Dwayne Johnson and Warner Bros. have been looking for a DC comics superhero film project for him to be involved with for years. Rumors of it started back in 2012, but according to the actor there is going to be an official announcement very soon. During an interview with Total Film, Johnson confirmed that he will be playing a superhero character, and it seems like he’s saying that he’s going to play Shazam. Here’s the quote:

“I will say this. There’s a character out there that we’re going to announce very soon that I’m going to play, and I’ll just say this: This character has the power of Superman, he can throw down. Just say the word. That’s all I’m going to say.”

About a month ago, the studio’s comic book movie line-up leaked out, and there was a Shazam solo film booked for release in July of 2016. I assume WB will announce the project and casting during their panel at Comic-Con this weekend.

If this turns out to be the case, Johnson is definitely an interesting choice to take on this superhero character. As much as I like Johnson though, it’s hard to imagine him as Shazam. Can you see him taking on this character? I guess I’d have to see him in costume.

New MAD MAX: FURY ROAD Photos with Hardy and Theron

A couple new images from George Miller‘s Max Max: Fury Road have been released thanks to EW. The picture above features Tom Hardy as Max, and it doesn’t look like he’s having a very fun time. Then there’s an image of Charlize Theron as Imperator Furiosa, looking like a badass. Warner Bros. has a panel for this long awaited film at Comic-Con this week, and I’m sure that’s where we’ll get our first look at some footage from the film.

Mad Max: Fury Road is the fourth film of George Miller‘s Road Warrior/Mad Max franchise co-written and directed by Miller. The post-apocalyptic action film is set in the furthest reaches of our planet, in a stark desert landscape where humanity is broken, and most everyone is crazed fighting for the necessities of life. Within this world of fire and blood exist two rebels on the run who just might be able to restore order… There’s Max (played by Tom Hardy from The Dark Knight Rises), a man of action and a man of few words, who seeks peace of mind following the loss of his wife and child in the aftermath of the chaos. And… Furiosa (played by Charlize Theron from Prometheus), a woman of action and a woman who believes her path to survival may be achieved if she can make it across the desert back to her childhood homeland.

Female Thor, Sam Wilson Cap and More Assemble for Avengers NOW!

The new Thor and Captain America will join a team that will also feature a new Iron Man suit, although it will still be worn by Tony Stark. “The Superior Iron Man” will follow Tony in his new life in San Francisco.

“Like the Superior Spider-Man, Superior Iron Man is a character that’s hard to root for,” Marvel’s Axel Alonso teases.

The new Avengers team, as shown below, will include, in addition to Iron Man, Thor and Captain America, Medusa, Scarlet Witch, Winter Soldier, Angela, Doctor Strange, Ant-Man, Deathlok and Inferno.
