Spider-Man’s Giant Robot Just Became Official Marvel Comics Canon

If you’ve been reading Dan Slott’s Spider-Verse saga over at Marvel Comics, you know this “Crisis on Infinite Spider-Men” has combined pretty much taken every iteration of ol’ Web-head and joined them into one epic adventure. But one specific introduction has just blown my mind.

In The Amazing Spider-Man #12, a group of Spider-heroes have collected a variety of their counterparts from a variety of Japans, including the Marvel Mangaverse Spidey as well as Yu Komori, the protagonist of the 1970s’ Spider-Man manga. But there is a third — Takuya Yamashiro, star of the Japanese live-action Spider-Man TV show from the ’70s, better known as Supaidman. And he brought a friend.

 

Yes, Supaidaman’s giant robot Leopardon just set foot in the official, 616 universe to join forces against Solus, a villain determined to take out every Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man in every reality. I won’t say how it goes, but I will say this — writer Dan Slott and artist Olivier Coipel are doing the Lord’s work over there.

Marvel Unleashes Full Teaser Trailer for ANT-MAN

If you’re reading this site, there’s a good chance you’re already very familiar with the history of Marvel Studios’ Ant-Man movie: Edgar Wright spent years developing the screenplay with an eye to direct, but ended up walking away from the film because he ultimately didn’t see eye to eye with the studio. Bring It On director Peyton Reed came in as a replacement, and Kevin Feige and the people at Marvel have gone out of their way to convince fans that Reed is the right guy for the job.

During tonight’s series premiere of Agent Carter, Marvel released the first official teaser for Ant-Man, so fans can now decide for themselves. What do you think? Does it look good, or could this be one of the studio’s rare missteps?

Sony Is Bringing Back the Walkman With One Huge Surprise

Sony unveiled a new Walkman on Tuesday that will deliver an exceptional audio experience—at an exceptionally high price.

The new Sony ZX2 Walkman will set audiophiles back by $1,119.99, Sony revealed at this week’s Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. According to Sony, the payoff comes with a clarity of sound that approaches master recordings in studio.

Unlike CD’s and MP3 files, which compress sound files into more manageable sizes, the new walkman will retain songs in “high resolution” (a typical song file weighs in at a hefty 150MB). That wider bandwidth allows for more sensitive recordings, “for a more authentic, emotionally involving musical experience,” Sony says.

Pono, a similar high fidelity audio player backed by Neil Young, retails at $399. Then there’s the larger question of whether the average listener can appreciate high-resolution sound files. Some studies have suggested young listeners actually prefer the sound of a compressed file.

The Sony device will come with a lot of storage for all those high-res songs. The Walkman ZX2 comes with 128 GB of storage, roughly enough space for 1,700 songs at this size.

The Walkman ZX2 will go on sale in stores this spring.

ARROW Producer Wants Batman in Series and Details on Upcoming Episodes Revealed

During an interview with THR, Arrow producer Marc Guggenheim said he would like to introduce Batman into the series. I don’t know if it will ever happen, but if it did, the show’s ratings would blast through the roof! Here’s what Guggenheim said:

“At the end of the day it’d be so awesome to have Batman on the show. That’d be really cool. I don’t think that will be happening anytime soon, but you never know…one day.”

The producer went on to point out that when they were planning the series, they never thought it would include characters such as Huntress, Deadshot, and Deathstroke, but here they are. Now in its third season, we also have Ray Palmer, Katana, and the Suicide Squad. The Flash, of course, has also been introduced into the universe. So I guess one day it could be possible to see the Caped Crusader make an appearance.

If that happens, I seriously doubt that it will connect to the DC movie universe being built, or the TV series Gotham. Batman would have to separately exist within the Arrow and Flash universe, which is perfectly fine, and I hope they do it!

We also have some intriguing details on the upcoming episodes of Arrow from TVLine. There are SPOILERS in the following information, so if you read ahead, be prepared to find out some cool intel!

The three episodes following Oliver’s seeming death “are among the best we’ve ever done. They’re incredibly compelling,” EP Marc Guggenheim promises. The fallout at home not only “makes it necessary” for Laurel to don the Canary costume, but also brings together characters that previously haven’t shared a lot of screentime. “There’s a lot of Thea and Felicity,” and “[Felicity will] have some pretty big moments with Laurel as well.” Diggle gets “emotional” in the first hour back, shares David Ramsey, who also hints that the H.I.V.E. storyline will be revisited. Viewers also haven’t seen the last of another elite group. “We’re definitely going to bring back the Suicide Squad,” EP Andrew Kreisberg confirms. And though Sara’s killer has been unmasked, Sin will play “a pivotal part” in that storyline in Episode 12, while Sara (Caity Lotz) and Vertigo (Peter Stormare) both appear in Episode 13. Not to be outdone, big bad Slade Wilson (Manu Bennett) returns the following week.

Daredevil is coming to Netflix on April 10th

Netflix Daredevil posterMarvel has finally revealed the release date for its upcoming Daredevil series: it’s coming on April 10th. All 13 of the hour-long episodes from the first season of the Netflix-exclusive show will be available on that date, in every territory that the streaming service is available. The series will star Boardwalk Empire‘s Charlie Cox in the titular role, and is inspired by the “Man Without Fear” run of the comic book created by Frank Miller and John Romita, Jr. And as is becoming a Marvel tradition, the company hinted that you can expect to see a lot more in the way of teases between now and April.

J.J. Abrams Talks About The Pressure of Fan Expectations With STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS

Considering that this is the first year in a decade in which a new Star Wars movie will be released, and that film will be a realization of whispers and rumors of a new trilogy that have been floating around since the original trilogy came to a close, it’s safe to say that anticipation for Star Wars: The Force Awakens is incredibly high. Co-writer/director J.J. Abrams is well aware of the pressure he assumed when he signed on to make this movie, and when you think about it, it’s really more pressure than any one person should ever have to handle. He seems to be taking it pretty well, though, and in a new interview with MTV, Abrams spoke about the opportunity outweighing the fear, the buzz in the air during filming, and more.

Phil Lord and Chris Miller Talk About Writing THE LEGO MOVIE 2

The LEGO Movie was one of my favorite films of 2014, so I was thrilled to hear that writer/directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller would be returning to write the upcoming sequel. In a new interview with Empire, the filmmakers – who are producing all of the upcoming LEGO movie projects – spoke about the full slate of brick-based movies ranging from Ninjago to The LEGO Batman Movie (starring Will Arnett) and offered some thoughts on what they’d like to do with the sequel to 2014’s smash hit.

On whether they’ll direct The LEGO Movie 2:

Miller: “I don’t think so. We’re writing the sequel right now and obviously producing all the other ones. There’s a challenge to make each one feel like its own thing. Part of the fun is finding people like Charlie [Bean], who’s doing the Ninjago movie, and Chris McKay who did so much on the first film. Each of them have their own distinct voices and ideas for tone. So it will each have its own personality and not just be, ‘Hey, remember that last movie? Here’s another one just like it!” So that’s been a big challenge but so far it’s been going better than I expected.”

Lord: “I think it’s nice for all these other films to have their own voice and that’s what’s neat about working with all these other filmmakers. They come up with solutions you wouldn’t think of. Watching Charlie Bean’s sequences for Ninjago is so gratifying because he’s able to make it play without any dialogue and has a really great visual style. It’s really nice and refreshing. I think it would get boring if we directed them all, quite honestly.”

The pair wasn’t originally going to write the sequel, so what changed?

Miller: “We thought we’d said everything we wanted to say about creativity and imagination and the inherent nature of Lego, and that left-brain/right-brain nature. So we were scared about trying to write something that felt like the next chapter and new ideas and not just a rehash.”

Lord: “We also worried we didn’t have enough time. Luckily, [Chris] McKay and Jared [Stern] and Michelle [Morgan] all worked on the movie a bit in our absence and really cracked the beginnings of a story and got us really excited; excited enough to write it. We should be writing right now. We’ve opened a Final Draft document and titled it. I mean, that’s really the hardest part. And we’ve chosen the formatting. That is all that’s happened so far. We’ve been outlining a bunch.”

Miller: “There are some really fun new themes that we didn’t explore in the first movie and got us really excited, so that it’s its own thing. With 22 Jump Street we did the whole making fun of yourself for just doing the same thing again. We can’t do that ever again. You can only go so far up your own rear end.”

And what can we expect to see in the story for The LEGO Movie 2?

Miller: “Well I don’t want to give you spoilers but we were really interested in what happens to that boy who’s in the meta story in the first movie when he’s four years older. When he’s an adolescent how does that change his point of view?

Charlie Sheen goes on Twitter rant against Kim Kardashian, tells her ‘go f yourself’

Kim Kardashian is feeling the social media wrath of Charlie Sheen.

The 34-year-old reality starlet is the latest reported target of scathing insults by the 49-year-old actor via Twitter, according to TMZ.

Sheen allegedly lashed out at the brunette beauty early Tuesday after finding out from a pal that Kardashian refused to sign an autograph for a 6-year-old girl.

“She cries about it every night before she goes to sleep,” Sheen reportedly said of the disappointed fan.

“You are lucky that ANYONE cares about your gross and giggly (sic) bag of funk you dare call an a–.

“Your public loves u. give something back or go f yourself,” he apparently continued in the since deleted series of tweets, the gossip site noted.

“My apologies to your hubby, great guy I’m sure, I hope his vision returns one day,” Sheen added of Kardashian’s husband Kanye West.

This isn’t the first time a famous face refusing a fan has enraged the “Anger Management” star.

Sheen went off the handle in May 2013 when singer Rihanna declined to meet his then-fiancée, Brett Rossi.

“I sent a request over to her table to introduce my fiancé Scotty to her, as she is a huge fan,” he tweeted, calling Rossi by her nickname.

“Personally I couldn’t pick her out of a line-up at gunpoint.”

“Nice impression you left behind, Bday or not. Sorry we’re not KOOL enough to warrant a blessing from the Princess, or in this case the Village idiot,” Sheen said as he continued to bash the “Diamonds” singer.

Sheen later told TMZ that he didn’t intend to post the rant against Kardashian Tuesday, he meant to share it last month but apparently uploaded it by mistake.

The gossip site reported that Sheen still supports what he said and believes Kardashian did in fact snub a young fan.

“Zero gratitude, zero awareness, zero talent, a pox on the face of entertainment she is,” he said.

“The assistant and dooshy got in her car and pulled out and sped past the poor little 6-year-old without even a glance to the child,” Sheen allegedly explained.

A pal of Kardashian shut down the story, telling TMZ that North West’s mama “never says no to autographs, especially kids.”

Channing Tatum’s X-Men Spinoff to Hit Theaters in 2016

Twentieth Century Fox has set Channing Tatum’s X-Men spinoff “Gambit” for Oct. 7, 2016.

The Gambit character, who debuted in 1990, is an expert card-thrower and has the power to manipulate kinetic energy.

“Gambit,” written by Joshua Zetumer, will be Fox’s eighth X-Men movie. “X-Men: Apocalypse” debuts on May 27, 2016.

“Gambit” will face off against Warner Bros.’ “Live by Night” and Universal’s “Monster High.”

Fox also announced Monday that it had set or shifted dates for six other films — most notably, moving its next “Planet of the Apes” movie back a year to July 14, 2017.

The studio had originally planned to open its ninth “Planet of the Apes” on July 29, 2016. Instead, Fox has taken the “Fantastic Four” sequel off July 14, 2017, and moved it forward six weeks to June 2, 2017.

Fox successfully rebooted the “Apes” franchise in 2011 with “Rise of the Planet of the Apes,” which grossed $482 million worldwide. This year’s “Dawn of the Planet of the Apes” was even more successful with over $700 million.

Fox’s reboot of  “Fantastic Four,” directed by Josh Trank and starring Miles Teller, Kate Mara, Michael B. Jordan and Jamie Bell, will open on Aug. 7.

“Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates,” a comedy to be directed by Jake Szymanski, has been set for July 29, 2016. The script by Andrew J. Cohen and Brendan O’Brien focuses on two brothers posting an online ad for wedding dates.

The studio dated two films for next year’s holiday season — vidgame adaptation “Assassin’s Creed,” starring Michael Fassbender with Justin Kurzel directing, has been dated for Dec. 21, 2016; and P.T. Barnum biopic “The Greatest Showman on Earth,” starring Hugh Jackman, will open Dec. 25, 2016.
