Top 10 movie Comedies
The funniest movies tend to burrow into our brains like no other form of popular entertainment. Through repeated viewings and earworm quotes, they create unconscious templates for life’s milestones and stopovers — dating, road trips, the college experience, marriage, the working world — and remind us of moments in time as well as entire eras. They’re comfort food and therapy, high art and cultural critique, nestled lovingly amid fart jokes and crotch punches.
The best comedy movies also enjoy a freedom that seems out of place in most other media, with run-times that allow them to develop complicated but self-contained worlds, the full buffet of acting, editing, and musical options, and the (frequent) R ratings that give them the appropriate range of artistic motion. “Comedy is subjective,” we’re constantly told. Maybe, but if something stays funny for decades it’s clearly reaching across cultures and contexts to tweak our collective nipples for a reason.

Kevin Smith’s MALLRATS 2 Will Be Called MALLBRATS
Kevin Smith has revealed the title of his upcoming Mallrats sequel, and it doesn’t have a “2” at the end of it. As you can see on the title of the article above, the movie will be called Mallbrats. I’m not quite sure what exactly it means, but I imagine on top of the older returning cast, there will also be a group of younger teens that the story will revolve around.
I’m not certain that’s the case, but if it is, it will be interesting to see the older original characters interacting with younger, brattier teenagers. I can can already see the many conversations that can come out of how things aren’t the way they used to be when Brodie and company were teens.
The returning cast includes Jason Lee, Shannen Doherty, Ethan Suplee, Jeremy London, Renee Humphry, Claire Forlani, Joey Lauren Adams, Jason Mewes, Stan Lee, Michael Rooker, and Sven-Ole Thorsen. The only one that isn’t on board yet is Ben Affleck, but Smith is trying to get him.
Smith is looking to shoot MallBrats later this year, and it will most likely get a 2016 release.
‘Three Stooges’ Returning in Action-Comedy
In a pre-Cannes move, independent producers are launching a Three Stooges action comedy with Sean Hayes (Larry), Chris Diamantopoulos (Moe) and Will Sasso (Curly) on board.
The trio starred in Fox’s 2012 movie “The Three Stooges,” which was produced, directed and written by the Farrelly Brothers and based on the classic slapstick trio. Continue reading
Native Actors Walk off Set of Adam Sandler Movie After Insults to Women Elders
Approximately a dozen Native actors and actresses, as well as the Native cultural advisor, left the set of Adam Sandler’s newest film production, The Ridiculous Six, on Wednesday. The actors, who were primarily from the Navajo nation, left the set after the satirical western’s script repeatedly insulted native women and elders and grossly misrepresented Apache culture.
The examples of disrespect included Native women’s names such as Beaver’s Breath and No Bra, an actress portraying an Apache woman squatting and urinating while smoking a peace pipe, and feathers inappropriately positioned on a teepee.

First Photos of the Griswold Family from VACATION Sequel
The classic 1983 National Lampoon’s Vacation is getting a new sequel, and today we have our first look at the Griswold family in a couple of photos from the film. Ed Helms leads the film as a grown up Rusty Griswold, who is going to take his own family on a road trip to Walley World just like his dad and mom did when he was a kid. Sony Plans New ‘Ghostbusters’ Film With Russo Brothers, Channing Tatum & ‘IM3? Scribe Drew Pearce
Sony Pictures is broadening the Ghostbusters franchise and the first order of business will be an action-centric comedy that is a counterpart to the Paul Feig-directed film that will start production in June. The studio is simultaneously forming Ghostcorps, a new production company whose principals include original Ghostbusters architects Ivan Reitman and Dan Aykroyd; they will have offices at Sony with the mission to scare up branding opportunities based on the 1984 comedy classic.
