The Batman inspired TV series Gotham seems to be coming together nicely. It was recently announced that Ben McKenzie would play a young Jim Gordon, who will be the main character in the series. We now have casting for the Penguin, Alfred Pennyworth, Gordon’s boss, and his fiancé. I’ve also included the descriptions of the characters in the series (via: Variety.)
-6
Robin Lord Taylor has been perfectly cast to play Oswald Cobblepot a.k.a. the Penguin. The guy looks creepy as hell. “With the brains of a chess grandmaster and the morals of a jackal, Cobblepot is a low-level psychopath for gangster Fish Mooney, and hides his sadistic lust for power behind an exquisitely polite demeanor.”
-5
Sean Pertwee will play Alfred Pennyworth. Described a “tough-as-nails ex-marine from East London, Pennyworth has loyally served the Wayne family. Now, in the wake of their tragic deaths, he’s fiercely protective of the young Bruce Wayne — the boy who will eventually become Batman.”
-4
Zabryna Guevara will play Captain Essen, who is Detective Gordon’s boss at the Gotham City Police Department Homicide Squad. “Essen balances the two worlds of police and politics with a Machiavellian skill that’s as much corporate litigator as cop.”
-3
Erin Richards will take on the role of Barbara Kean, “the fiance of Detective Gordon (McKenzie). A sophisticated emergency doctor, Kean stands by her husband amid the corrupt world of Gotham.”
The series explores the origin stories of Commissioner James Gordon and the villains that infested Gotham. The series will also feature young Bruce Wayne, who is yet to be cast. Stay tuned for more details on what is sure to be an amazing series!

Today Joss Whedon started his long journey to bring us the highly anticipated Avengers: Age of Ultron! Production on the sequel has begun in Johannesburg, South Africa. The crew will film on location there for two weeks before heading off to Italy, South Korea, and finally, UK’s Pinewood Studios where the most of the film will be shot.

Apparently the opening 10 minutes of the film will be set in Johannesburg, South Africa. None of the film’s major stars – Robert Downey Jr., Mark Ruffalo, Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, or Scarlett Johansson – have started shooting yet, though.

It’s awesome to know that they have started production because there’s a really good chance that there will be some footage to screen at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con!

Details on Black Widow’s Role in AVENGERS 2 and Possible Solo Movie

https://i0.wp.com/static.squarespace.com/static/51b3dc8ee4b051b96ceb10de/t/52fbec66e4b01b2bb4f730f8/1392241767974/captain-america-black-widow-scarlett-avengers-johansson.jpg?w=584

Thanks to Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige and actor Chris Evans we have some more details on Joss Whedon‘s Avengers: Age of Ultron. During an interview with Total Film, they talk about Black Widow and how the sequel will explore the backstory of the character, and reveal that there has been some movement on a solo movie.

From what we’ve seen of Captain America: The Winter Solider so far, it looked a little like maybe we would get some more information on the past of Scarlett Johansson‘s Russian spy, Natasha Romanoff, but it looks like it will be explored in more depth in Age of Ultron.

“Black Widow’s whole arc [in The Winter Soldier] is coming to terms with her history – that she’s been a spy, and spies aren’t necessarily trustworthy.”

Feige went on to discuss Age of Ultron and the possibility of a solo movie saying,

“We start filming the next Avengers film at the end of March. [Black] Widow’s part in that is very big. We learn more about her past and learn more about where she came from and how she became in that film. The notion of exploring that even further in her own film would be great, and we have some development work with that.”

I would love to see a standalone Black Widow movie happen. She’s a great, kickass character who I think could hold her own. As far as what else they are doing with Age of Ultron, Feige continued,

“We wanted to change the dynamic of the cinematic universe with this film. We wanted Cap and really the entire cinematic universe to be very different at the end of Winter Solider than it is at the beginning. Therefore when we meet the Avengers at the top of Age of Ultron, it’s a very different landscape than we left them at the end of the film. Partially that’s because we love the rhythm that the comic books have developed – each of the characters appear in their runs, occasionally they get together for a big event or crossover series, they part again, and then they come back together again.”

Elizabeth Olsen on Her Scarlet Witch Costume in AGE OF ULTRON

During a recent interview with Total Film, Elizabeth Olsen talked about her role as Scarlet Witch in Joss Whedon’s Avengers: Age of Ultron. When asked if she would wear the sultry costume that her character dons in the comics, she said,

“We’ve done some costume stuff, yeah! My favourite piece is my secrecy cloak that prevents anyone from seeing what I’m wearing. There’s a hood, and a robe – it protects the image!

“I don’t think Joss ever would have hired me, honestly, if he wanted me to wear those outfits; I am not a professional athlete and nor am I a model. Wearing those costumes wouldn’t be fun for anyone who wasn’t those things. He already had a different idea. It respects and involves the comic-book character but it’s different, more rooted. It’s for someone today.

“Well, If someone walked around wearing what she wore in the comics, people would stop and say, ‘What the hell… she thinks she’s a superhero!’”

Whedon has always been great with costumes, so I’m excited to see what he’s done with the looks of Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver, who is being played by Aaron Taylor-Johnson.

Chris Pratt and Danny McBride up for Roles in KNIGHT RIDER Movie?

http://static.squarespace.com/static/51b3dc8ee4b051b96ceb10de/t/52fd199ce4b0a0ce2c95d0f7/1392318877646/?format=750wLast year, screenwriter Brad Copeland was hired to script The Weinstein Company’s big-screen take on the 1980s series Knight Rider. Since Copeland’s credits are strictly comedies — great sitcoms like Arrested Development and Grounded For Life, and horrid movies like Yogi Bear and Wild Hogs — it was safe to assume that this feature remake would be taking a more comedic route. Those assumptions now seem concrete with SchmoesKnow reporting last night that Chris Pratt and Danny McBride are in talks for the remake.

Considering the recent success of the self-aware, tongue-in-cheek big-screen adaptation of 21 Jump Street and the failure of the 2008 reboot of the Knight Rider series, a comedic take on the property actually seems like the safer bet. The original series starred David Hasselhoff as Michael Knight, a lone crimefighter battling the forces of evil with the help of his artificially intelligent supercar K.I.T.T. (voiced by Boy Meets World’s William Daniels).
Pratt and McBride’s involvement hasn’t been confirmed, so take this as a rumor for now. It should be noted, though, that SchmoesKnow’s source is more hit than miss, so the two actors are likely at least in early talks. There’s no word on which actor would take on what role, but with Pratt’s action oriented roles in Guardians of the Galaxy and Zero Dark Thirty, he seems more groomed for Michael Knight with McBride likely being looked at to voice K.I.T.T.

Gary Oldman in Talks for Star Wars: Episode VII?

The London Critics' Circle Film Awards - ArrivalsSince its announcement back in 2012, we’ve heard a lot of casting rumors for the upcoming Star Wars: Episode VII. From “Breaking Bad” star Jesse Plemons to Benedict Cumberbatch, we’ve heard almost every name in the book, but very few of these rumors have come from the actors themselves. In a recent interview with Sky Movies, veteran actor Gary Oldman was asked if he had any interest in joining the new film, given he’s been in so many blockbuster franchises throughout his career.

“They’ve called, yeah,” Oldman replied, hesitating on a follow-up. “I’m more cynical about it (casting) now, I believe it when I’m on the plane home. You know, the deal isn’t done (until then). But yeah, they’ve inquired.”

Would you like to see Gary Oldman in Star Wars: Episode VII? Sound off below!

Scripted by J.J. Abrams and Lawrence Kasdan, Star Wars: Episode VII is rumored to focus on a new generation of heroes and could include appearances by Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford in older incarnations of their beloved characters from the original Star Wars trilogy. The film is expected to begin shortly and will hit theaters on December 18, 2015.

I was incredibly surprised and excited to hear that Jesse Eisenberg was cast in Zack Snyder‘s Batman Vs. Superman. I thought the choice was inspired. Not everyone is happy with his casting, but wait and see what they actually have planned for him. Maybe you’ll like it, maybe you won’t, but I think Eisenberg is going to be awesome as Lex.

Latino-Review got their hands on some details on what Lex Luthor will be like in the film and some huge plot points. Maybe they managed to answer some of the questions you have. Of course, there are potential MAJOR SPOILERS in the following information if they are true.

Marvel Already Prepping for GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY Sequel

http://static.squarespace.com/static/51b3dc8ee4b051b96ceb10de/t/52f3d385e4b0b5c2c647d146/1391711111485/?format=1000w

We have yet to see the full potential of Marvel’s upcoming sci-fi action film Guardians of the Galaxy, but it looks like a sequel won’t be too far behind. According to JoBlo, an inside source says Guardians of the Galaxy 2 will be coming out during Marvel’s Phase 3 lineup. The sequel is said to be aimed for release on May 6th, 2016, which would fill the first of two previously announced release dates the studio has yet to reveal titles for.

Having seen some great looking early footage from the film at Comic-Con I knew there would be a sequel at some point. The crowd went wild! Marvel seems to know what they are doing, and I think audience is going to love what they are doing with this intergalactic team of misfits.

There’s no information on if James Gunn will be back to direct the sequel, but it would be great if he does. I seriously can’t wait for you to see some footage from the film if you haven’t already seen it. I’m excited to see more footage, and we can only hope that the final product will blow audiences’ minds.

Take it as a rumor, but remember… Marvel Studios’ President Kevin Feige has said they have plans for Marvel films through 2021, which means anything is possible.

Guardians of the Galaxy is set to be released on August 1st, 2014.

Paul Bettany to Play The Vision in Avengers: Age of Ultron

Paul Bettany to Play The Vision in Avengers: Age of Ultron?

It looks like Paul Bettany might very well have an expanded presence in Joss Whedon’s upcoming Avengers: Age of Ultron. England’s The Daily Mail first reported and then Variety quickly confirmed that the actor will play android team member The Vision in the May 1, 2015 release.

Bettany is no stranger to Marvel Studios films. He has provided the voice of Tony Stark’s computer system, J.A.R.V.I.S. in all three Iron Man films as well as the original Marvel’s The Avengers. It seems likely that, as has long been speculated by fans, the sequel will see Stark’s program evolve into a fully-fledged A.I. android. Bettany was reportedly spotted at Shepperton Studios for a costume test.

The Vision has been a major part of the team since his debut in “The Avengers” #57 all the way back in 1968. In the comics, the character falls in love with and marries Scarlet Witch, who will be played in the sequel by Elizabeth Olsen.

In addition to quite a few returning Avengers, Age of Ultron will also feature James Spader as the title villain, Thomas Kretschmann as Baron Strucker and Aaron Taylor-Johnson as Scarlet Witch’s brother, Quicksilver.
