Hulk and Hawkeye Have Bigger Role in AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON

While doing press for Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has been answering a lot of questions about Joss Whedon‘s Avengers: Age of Ultron. One of the things I noticed is that a lot of questions not answered in The Winter Soldier will be answered in Age of Ultron. One of those questions is what was going on with Hawkeye? In an interview with JoBlo, he says not only will Hawkeye’s whereabouts will be revealed, but he will also have a bigger role this time around, as will the Hulk.

“Part of the fun of Age of Ultron was saying, you’ve seen another Iron Man adventure before, you see another Thor adventure and another Cap adventure, but we haven’t seen the Green Goliath again. So that was important in the characters you haven’t seen – Hulk being one of them and Hawkeye being one of them – Ultron will make up for it. They have very big parts in Age of Ultron.”

I’m sure a lot of fans don’t really care that much for Hawkeye, but the Hulk having more screen time is definitely a plus and something I know the fans want to see. It’s exciting that we’re going to get to see more Hulk action!

In a separate interview with Movies.com, Feige was asked if Agent Coulson would return for Age of Ultron, and he replied,

“That is a good question that I probably shouldn’t answer for any number of reasons.”

I’d like to think that that means yes, but we’ll see how that turns out! No matter what happens, I’m sure Age of Ultron is going to be even better than the first Avengers movie.

X-MEN: APOCALYPSE Will Have the Most ‘Mass Destruction’ of the Franchise

http://static.squarespace.com/static/51b3dc8ee4b051b96ceb10de/t/53231d53e4b01a67c70a1f3a/1394810198213/x-men-apocalypse-will-have-the-most-mass-destruction-of-the-franchise?format=750w

While talking to Total Film about the X-Men franchise, director Bryan Singer opened up a little bit more about the next installment of the series, X-Men: Apocalypse. He offers up some new details about when the story will take place, and also reveals that it will have more mass destruction than any of the other X-Men movies.

“We’re going to deal the the [sic] notion of ancient mutants – the fact they were born and existed thousands of years ago. But it’ll be a contemporary movie – well, it’ll take place in the ’80s… The ’80s is a period now – it’s hard for me to believe that! Apocalypse will have more of the mass destruction that X-Men films, to date, have not relied upon. There’s definitely now a character and a story that allow room for that kind of spectacle.”

Singer goes on to talk about were they are in the developmental stage of the film:

“We’re currently breaking the story. We’re almost ready to go. Dan Harris, Michael Dougherty and Simon Kinberg are in the office across the street from me, working on story stuff right now. It’s great to have Dan and Michael back.”

When asked about about what characters will be included in the film he said:

“I don’t want to get too specific, but we’ll introduce familiar characters in a younger time. That’ll be fun to show the audience. I call these movies in-between-quels. It’s a mind-[frick] sometimes in terms of where things fall in the timeline!”

That sounds like it could be fun. I’m sure at least Cyclops will be back along with a few other familiar faces like Jean. Apocalypse won’t be the last of of the X-Men films Singer is going to be involved with, though. When asked if there were more stories he’d like to tell in this universe he replied:

“Yeah, there actually are. It all stems back to when I did [the first] X-Men. You always want to know where a character’s going to go, what their future’s going be like. You can always sequelise. But on that film I also had actors asking ‘Who am I? Where did my character come from?’ So as a director you always need a backstory to give your actors. It may not be the right backstory, but it’s one you can give the actor to help them understand their character. These prequels are really exciting for me because they give me a chance to explore ideas I came up with more than a decade ago.”

So it seems like there’s lots of great X-Men awesomeness to look forward to! X-Men: Apocalypse will hit theaters on May 26th, 2016.

J.K. Simmons to Join TERMINATOR: GENESIS

http://static.squarespace.com/static/51b3dc8ee4b051b96ceb10de/t/53223f0ae4b0da1c58e81cc3/1394753294458/jk-simmons-to-join-terminator-genesis?format=750w

Spider-Man star J.K. Simmons is in negotiations to join director Alan Taylor‘s Terminator: Genesis. According to THR, Simmons will play “a weary and alcoholic detective who has followed a bizarre case involving Sarah Connor and robots for more than three decades (since 1984, which, not coincidentally, is the year the original movie, directed by James Cameron, was released).”

If everything goes through, Simmons will join Emilia Clarke as Sarah Connor, Jason Clarke as John Connor, and Jai Courtney as Kyle Reese. Arnold Schwarzenegger will of course be back to reprise his role as the Terminator. There’s still no word on whether he will be a good or bad Terminator in this one.

The reboot will weave together several ideas from the previous Terminator movies, and in the process give fans a fresh new story about Skynet’s uprising and its plan to wage war on mankind. To read some possibly spoiler filled story information on the movie click here.

Simmons is an amazing actor. I most recently saw him in a Sundance film called Whiplash, and he was insanely awesome in it! That’s going to be a movie you don’t want to miss. He’ll be awesome in Terminator: Genesis, too, probably.

Marc Webb Not Directing The Amazing Spider-Man 4, Talks Spidey Universe

Spider-Man Chases Paul Giamatti in New Clip from The Amazing Spider-Man 2

Marc Webb, who directed The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and will return to the director’s chair for The Amazing Spider-Man 3 (June 10, 2016), says someone else will have to step in for the fourth installment, which Sony Pictures already has scheduled for a May 4, 2018 release.

Talking to The Daily Beast, Webb said that three films will be it for him.

“I’d like to be involved as a consultant,” he said about the fourth film, “and I’ve already talked to these guys about it, but in terms of directing it, that will close out my tenure. I’ve had so much fun doing it, but after the third movie, it’ll be the time to find something else.”

The third and fourth Spidey movies are not the only projects in the works at Sony, of course, as Venom and The Sinister Six spin-offs are also in development.

“We’re building out a more complicated Spider-Man universe with characters that people haven’t seen in other Spider-Man movies—The Sinister Six, Venom, and more. We’d all love to overlap with other studios, but it’s beyond my pay grade,” he said.

First up is The Amazing Spider-Man 2, which starts opening internationally on April 16 and swings into North America on May 2.

Pixar to Re-release RATATOUILLE and THE INCREDIBLES in 3D

http://static.squarespace.com/static/51b3dc8ee4b051b96ceb10de/t/53272dc9e4b067434081a2be/1395076555635/?format=750w

It was only a matter of time before we started seeing older Pixar films re-released in 3D. Thanks to Screen Daily we’ve learned that Ratatouille and The Incredibles are currently being prepped for a 3D release. These are my two favorite Pixar films, but I still don’t think I am going to pay the money to see them in 3D. Pixar’s director of 3D production Josh Hollander had this to say in a statement about The Incredibles:

“Right now we’re working on The Incredibles, which is a lot of fun in 3D. I’m not sure what the release strategy for it will be. It’s been an interesting challenge to work on technology because – while the film was released 10 years ago – the technology is even older as it took four years to make.”

He then goes on to talk about Ratatouille, saying,

“We have a version of Ratatouille, which works really well in 3D and we’re trying to figure out exactly what the release strategy for that will be.”

These films will be released after the 3D reissues of Toy Story, Toy Story 2, Finding Nemo, and Monsters Inc. Hollander then shares his general thoughts on 3D and the audience’s attitude on it, saying,

“I think that we as an industry may have lost some of our audience for 3D with releases that didn’t beg for the medium or didn’t warrant the medium or didn’t use the median in a nuanced and sophisticated and comfortable way. I think it’s possible that we drove some folks away from 3D with the higher ticket price or whatever else. But I also think that as the industry settles on a more nuanced approach, I really hope and believe that the audiences will return.”

WOLVERINE Sequel Won’t Shoot Until After X-MEN: APOCALYPSE

http://static.squarespace.com/static/51b3dc8ee4b051b96ceb10de/t/532717ece4b0674340818761/1395070960482/wolverine-sequel-wont-shoot-until-after-x-men-apocalypse?format=750w

In case you were wondering when you were going to see that new Wolverine sequel happen, the director of The Wolverine, James Mangold, revealed on Twitter that they are figuring it out, and that the pan is to start shooting after X-Men: Apocalypse:

@R__E__D_R__U__M @20centuryfox @ShuDonner We are figuring it all out. At the moment, I’m shooting The next #Wolverine after #XmenApocalypse.

X-Men: Apocalypse is set to be released in May 2016, so the soonest we will see another Wolverine movie will be in 2017 or 2018. It doesn’t sound like Wolverine will have a place in the story for Apocalypse, but we don’t know that for sure yet. There’s also no guarantee at this point if Hugh Jackman will even return to reprise his role. Jackman is getting older, and he can’t play this character forever. It’s inevitable that one day he’ll have to be replaced.

I’ll be very surprised if Jackman decides to do another Wolverine movie, because it’s been sounding like he’s ready to move on, but we’ll see. When it is time for Jackman to be replaced, it will be interesting to see who they cast. For more information on X-Men: Apocalypse, click here.

What Wolverine storyline would you like to see in the next movie?
