Struggling to find its way this year, Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is finally picking up steam in the wake of Captain America: The Winter Soldier’s universe-exploding twist. It hasn’t been officially renewed for a second season, but it won’t be big news when it is. What is big news is that ABC may be coupling that pickup with a straight to series order of Agent Carter, a new Marvel series about Peggy Carter.

According to Deadline, the project was inspired by the Marvel One Shot that appeared on the Iron-Man 3 Blu-ray. The one shot may be enough to sell ABC execs on the idea, allowing them to forgo the traditional pilot stage. Star Hayley Atwell’s option was recently extended and a script has been in the can for at least three months, but the studio hasn’t made the call yet. The series may serve as a bridge between the fall and spring halves of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., taking over the time slot during their hiatus and connecting to the series plot somehow.

Between this and the Netflix series plan, Marvel is upping their TV game. Let’s hope they can up the quality of their offerings, too, because while Marvel is killing it in the theaters, DC has the edge on TV.

Girl Meets world!

If you were born in the ‘80s, you probably feel like you grew up with Cory Matthews on Boy Meets World. And like all of us, Cory grew up. He and Topanga are still together, obvs, and they have a tween daughter. Wait, what? They’re old enough to have a tween daughter? Excuse me, I have to go look in the mirror and check for crow’s feet.

Anyway, ’80s kids are pleased as punch that our childhood favorites are going to be back on the screen each week on Girl Meets World, a new Disney channel show that will chart the trials and travails of Cory and Topanga’s daughter, Riley, as she grows up, and now there’s a teaser to whet our appetite even more. It looks like a pretty standard heartwarming coming of age comedy, but the nostalgia factor will be working in its favor. (Remember when Ben and Pat did a close reading of the Boy Meets World late years theme song on our old GeekTyrant podcast? It happened.) Presumably there will also be some kids watching it, too.

Girl Meets World stars Rowan Blanchard, Sabrina Carpenter, Danielle Fishel, Ben Savage, Corey Fogelmanis, and August Maturo. It will premiere this summer on the Disney Channel.

A decade after Boy Meets World, Cory and Topanga Matthews are married and have two children. The younger child, a daughter named Riley, faces life lessons through her family, friends, and school, as her parents did when they were younger.

FOX Hoping to Make Multiple AVATAR Films in the future!

avatar It is known that James Cameron is planning at least three Avatar sequels, and Sam Worthington, Zoe Sladana, and Stephen Lang are officially signed on to reprise their roles. But according to FOX CEO Rupert Murdoch, there could be more.

In a recent interview with Fortune, he said that Fox is planning to “step up our production of major films” and has “one or two or maybe more sequels to Avatar.” The first Avatar film is set to be released in 2016, and when talking about the release date, he said,

“If we make it, it will be the first time [director] Jim Cameron’s been on time or on budget. But he’s never lost me. When he finally comes through, they’re just huge hits.”

Again, we know that Cameron is planning on making three more Avatar movies and that he will shoot them back to back. If they all do well at the box office and make billions of dollars like the studio is hoping, then I’m sure the studio will want to keep making them. So time will tell!

Bryan Singer and Simon Kinberg Tease X-Men: Apocalypse!

apocaslypseheader

Even though X-Men: Days of Future Past won’t open in theaters until next month, plans are already in motion for the next “X-Men” adventure with X-Men: Apocalypse. Director Bryan Singer has already assembled a team to develop the film including “Days of Future Past” screenwriter Simon Kinberg and X2: X-Men United writers Dan Harris and Michael Dougherty?. The group have already broken some elements of the story, which Singer says won’t be an exact replication of the “Age of Apocalypse” story line.

“[The movie] won’t necessarily create an alternate universe,” Singer told EW“But there may be some swapping things that I’m playing with.”

“From a visual standpoint it actually may be a bigger movie than Days of Future Past because there’ll be disaster movie imagery,” Kinberg added. “Like the title would imply.”

Singer also admitted that X-Men: Apocalypse won’t exactly be set up by the ending of “Days of Future Past,” but “Days” will set up the potential for the film.

“You won’t feel at the end of the movie that it set up Apocalypse. What it does is it sets up possibilities. But what we’ll discover in Apocalypse is that events in this movie made that happen.”

Singer also confirmed to the publication that “Apocalypse” will focus primarily on the returning cast members from X-Men: First Class, including James McAvoy’s Charles Xavier, Michael Fassbender’s Magneto, Jennifer Lawrence’s Mystique, and Nicholas Hoult’s Beast, in addition to some younger versions of other mutants like the previously-teased Gambit and Nightcrawler.

“I’m excited because I want to start introducing familiar characters at different ages and also explore the ’80s,” Singer said about the film.

X-Men: Days of Future Past will hit theaters on May 23 of this year with X-Men: Apocalypse set to hit theaters on May 27, 2016.

GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY connection to the AVENGERS 3 movie

Guardians-of-the-Galaxy-marvel

the whole Marvel cinematic universe is connected in some way, so it should come as no surprise that Guardians of the Galaxy will be connected to other films in the universe. Director James Gunn has confirmed that his film will in fact be connected to Avengers 3.

Marvel has a plan in place with the intergalactic villain Thanos, who appeared at the end of The Avengers. He will also appear again in Guardians of the Galaxy, and Marvel has been carefully placing Infinity Gems across the films they’ve been releasing. It’s all leading up to something big! In a recent issue of Entertainment Weekly Gunn says,

“[Guardians of the Galaxy] is definitely connected to Avengers 3.

The director also added that the performance of Thanos would be done with motion capture and then referred to him as the “head of the snake.” He then went on to talk about the origins of Star-Lord and Gamora/Nebula:

“[Star Lord] was abducted from Earth (Missouri) at age 8 and raised in a group of thieves and smuggles called the Ravagers. He’s good with the ladies and a little bit of a dick and very lucky. Thanos slaughtered [Gamora’s] family and Nebula’s, then raised them together as siblings. They were bio engineered to become living weapons, so he’s really good at killing people.”

Spider-man: Sinister Six and Venom Movies Released Before The Amazing Spider-Man 4?

spidey sinister 6 header

Back in June of last year, Sony Pictures announced not only a release date for The Amazing Spider-Man 3 on June 10, 2016, but also The Amazing Spider-Man 4 on May 4, 2018. A few months later, they revealed plans for two spin-off films, Venom and The Sinister Six, though a release date wasn’t set for either at the time.

Now, producer Matt Tolmach says that we’ll be seeing the two spin-offs before the fourth entry in the series and that we might see one of them take that release date in the end.

“Before we know what we do with Spider-Man 4,” Tolmach said in an interview with Den of Geek. “We’re going to do Sinister Six, Venom and Spider-Man 3. There is going to be a lot of crossover in those movies. So we’re just not at Spider-Man 4, because we still have a whole other Spider-Man movie and two other movies. So we don’t know yet what [Spider-Man 4] is going to be.”

Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci, and Ed Solomon? will pen the Venom spin-off, which Kurtzman will direct. The Cabin in the Woods‘ Drew Goddard will write and direct The Sinister Six.?

Thats  just crazy!  which  movie  would you see first?  Are you excited to hear about a Venom  Movie  and a Sinister Six movie?  We want to know?
