20th Century Fox has released two posters for Ben Stiller‘s Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb. I never would have thought that a movie like this would actually get a decent movie poster design. I’m sure the first poster above looks familiar as it is inspired by Dutch artist M.C. Escher‘s “Relativity” art. Most of the posters we’ve seen for this franchise have been painfully generic, like the second poster that you see below.

Get ready for the wildest and most adventure-filled Night at the Museum ever as Larry (Stiller) spans the globe, uniting favorite and new characters while embarking on an epic quest to save the magic before it is gone forever.

The movie also stars the late Robin Williams, Owen Wilson, Steve Coogan, Ricky Gervais, Dan Stevens, Rebel Wilson, and Ben Kingsley. It’s set to open in theaters on December 19th. http://static.squarespace.com/static/51b3dc8ee4b051b96ceb10de/t/543fe264e4b01f8d6d271c30/1413472871920/2-posters-for-night-at-the-museum-secret-of-the-tomb2?format=500w

Scarlett Johansson offered lead in live-action Ghost In The Shell

Based on the 1995 film of the same name (as well as the Manga comic), GHOST IN THE SHELL is the latest anime adaptation in the Hollywood pipeline, with SNOW WHITE AND THE HUNTSMAN’s Rupert Sanders directing. Recently, it was reported that THE WOLF OF WALL STREET’s Margot Robbie was up for the lead role of Motoko Kusanagi, the cyborg heroine of the series, but apparently aggresive negotiations to get her into David Ayer‘s just-announced SUICIDE SQUAD may have derailed her involvement and now the word is that a $10 million offer has been made to Black Widow herself, Scarlett Johansson, to take the part.

After her success as the Marvel heroine, as well as the badass in Luc Besson‘s summer sleeper, LUCY, Johansson has proven herself to be an action star to contend with, giving her a better payday (if she takes it) and puts her in front of a more high-profile project to help grease her career wheels. Personally, I think it’s a great project for Johansson, capitalizing on the clout she’s built as a strong female asskicker and gives her a little more diversity than a black jumpsuit and red in her ledger. Plus, if Marvel isn’t going to give her a Black Widow standalone film, she doesn’t have much choice but to pursue other opportunites for lead roles. GHOST IN THE SHELL could be just what she needs.

No word on how close she may or may not be to signing on, but the deal is sure to move along quickly. Johansson will next be seen again as Natasha Romanov/Black Widow in AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON on May 1, 2015.

Robert Downey, Jr. Joins Captain America 3

https://i2.wp.com/media.comicbook.com/uploads1/2014/10/avengers-downey-new-109272.jpg?resize=424%2C242Robert Downey, Jr. has joined the cast of Captain America 3, Variety reports.

The move brings Downey, who has been teasing more work with Marvel beyond his current contract, back into the solo superhero movie business, where he’s made more money by a wide margin than anybody else in Marvel’s stable.

Downey’s existing deal had him on for only two more films: Avengers: Age of Ultron, which has already wrapped filming for release next year, and Avengers 3, which is expected in 2018.

The story indicates that the story will be based on the event series Civil War, for which Marvel released an ambiguous teaser earlier today. In the comics, the government proposes a registration program for superhumans — one that Iron Man supports and Captain America opposes. The resultant battle between the Marvel superheroes had ramifications that lasted for years, including putting Tony Stark in charge of S.H.I.E.L.D. for a time.

The death of Captain America, widely rumored to be a key part of the Captain America 3 storyline, took place at the end of Civil War but was technically not part of the storyline itself. He was assassinated — and for the sake of brevity we’ll say it was by Crossbones, a villain introduced in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, since that’s how it appeared in the comics for a long time.

Captain America 3, which now appears likely to be titled either Civil War or Fallen Son, is due in theaters on May 6, 2016.

Gillian Anderson Teases X-FILES 3 and Wants in on GHOSTBUSTERS Reboot

http://static.squarespace.com/static/51b3dc8ee4b051b96ceb10de/t/543d3f10e4b079875c5f1649/1413299987717/gillian-anderson-teases-x-files-3-and-wants-in-on-ghostbusters-reboot?format=750w

A third x-file movie has been teased and discussed for years. Creator Chris Carter and the lead actors have all expressed excited interest in returning for another movie. Carter has an idea for it that would possibly involve alien colonization. There’s no confirmation on whether that is still the plan though. You can read more about that here. 20th Century Fox just needs to give the project a go!During a recent Reddit AMA with Anderson regarding her novel “A Vision of Fire,” Anderson was asked if there has been any progress on the third X-Files film. She gave a very cryptic and teasing answer.

“Uh….uh… uh… Sorta kinda. Keep your ears to the ground.”

It’s not really definitive proof that the movie is happening, but it could mean that we will be hearing something about it soon. I really do hope that something is happening with this franchise because a third film needs to exist. I’d be the happiest guy in the world if it happens.

Then at one point during the Q&A session Gillian was also asked if she would consider joining the all-female cast in director Paul Feig‘s Ghostbusters reboot and she replied,

“OH MY GOD, I just looked it up online. Paul Feig, cast me now! Start a Twitter petition! I’m free!!!!! I’m free I’m free and I’m funny, goddamnit! MAKE IT HAPPEN!!!”

Never a fan of the x-files  and i am not  really in favor of a  female cast ghostbusters  but  maybe witht he right  cast it  can work… who knows!

Christian Bale in Talks for Danny Boyle’s STEVE JOBS Movie

https://i1.wp.com/static.squarespace.com/static/51b3dc8ee4b051b96ceb10de/t/543ee1d5e4b01ddd00df4f85/1413407192959/christian-bale-in-talks-for-danny-boyles-steve-jobs-movie-social.jpg?resize=435%2C328

When David Fincher was looking to direct the Aaron Sorkin scripted Steve Jobs biopic for Sony Pictures, word got out that he wanted to cast Christian Bale in the role. Nothing was ever confirmed for that, and it faded away when Fincher walked away from the project and Danny Boyle stepped in. Leonardo DiCaprio was Boyle’s top choice to play Jobs, but the actor recently stepped away from negotiations to take a break from acting.

Now it looks like Bale is actually being considered for the role. THR reports that the actor is in talks with the studio. Apparently Bale was in negotiations with Fox to star in another movie called The Deep Blue Goodbye, but that all went south. Bale is now looking to fill the open spot in his schedule with a meaty role… like Jobs. Bale is currently the top contender for the role, but other actors being considered are Matt Damon, Ben Affleck, and Bradley Cooper.

The biopic is based on Walter Isaacson‘s bestselling authorized biography, which was based on more than 40 interviews that the author had with Jobs. As well as interviews with friends, family, and colleagues.

The film itself is said to consist of three long scenes that take place prior to the launches of some of Jobs’ most buzzed-about products, including the Mac, NeXT (after Jobs had left Apple), and the iPod

I’ve been looking forward to this movie since is was first announced and Sorkin came on board to write it. Hopefully Sony can seal the deal and move forward with the production. Bale is an amazing actor and he would be great in the part.

Looks Like TERMINATOR: GENISYS Will Get a PG-13 Rating

http://static.squarespace.com/static/51b3dc8ee4b051b96ceb10de/t/5436a1b2e4b031cf2dff5d19/1412866492641/?format=750w

Hollywood sure does love their PG-13 movies, and it looks like the latest addition to the Terminator franchise is going that route as well. McG‘s Terminator: Salvation was PG-13, but that sure didn’t help make it a better movie. Terminator: Genisys is the start of a whole new trilogy for Paramount Pictures, and I was really hoping they would capture the spirit of the original film and take the R-rated road.

The actor who plays Kyle Reese in the film, Jai Courtney, recently talked about the movie in an interview with The Huffington Post.

“What I can say is that we start in a place we’re familiar with from the early films and then, you know, circumstances change. It somewhat shifts the course of events from that point. It’s not necessarily a sequel or a reboot. I don’t even know how you brand it correctly. We’re not remaking one of the early ‘Terminator’ movies. And it doesn’t necessarily carry on from the point where we left off.”

The in separate interview with The Arnold Fans, Courtney was asked about the rating of the movie, and if he thought it would be rated R. This was his reply,

“I would love to see it be rated R, but I don’t think it will. I think in this day & age, it’s much more likely to be PG-13. There were no f-bombs. But there’ll be a healthy amount of movie violence.”

It’s kind of sad to think that we live in a world where studios are scared to make an R-rated Terminator movie. The actor was also asked about shooting the sequels that will follow Terminator: Genisys, and whether Arnold Schwarzenegger would return to those as well. To that he said,

“Hard to imagine a Terminator film without Arnold. I guess we start filming – I think the plan is do the next 2 back to back in 2016.”

Courtney is also joined by Jason Clarke, Emilia Clarke, J.K. Simmons, Dayo Okeniyi, Byung Hun Lee, and Matt Smith in the film. It was directed by Thor: The Dark World‘s Alan Taylor from a screenplay by Laeta Kalogridis and Patrick Lussier. The movie is set to hit theaters on July 1st, 2015.

Marvel Comics Announces New Secret Wars Series to Begin in 2015

secret wars 640Yesterday at New York Comic Con, Marvel Comics announced their next big comics event, a brand new Secret Wars! Set to be written by Jonathan Hickman with art by Esad Ribic, the series will begin in 2015 and last one full year.

The series no doubt is what Hickman’s run on “Avengers” and “New Avengers” has been building up to since launching in 2012 as both series have dealt with parallel worlds to the Marvel Universe, not to mention the current story arc goes by the title “Time Runs Out.” Both of those things seem to pl

ay into this new Secret Wars as the promo art shows not only the new female Thor, the Superior Iron Man, and Sam Wilson as Captain America, but Miles Morales the Ultimate Spider-Man, Iron Man 2020, both regular Thor and Captain America, and countless other heroes and villains.

Secret Wars began in 1984 as a promotional tool for Marvel’s freshly-inked toy deal with Hasbro. The series saw all of the heroes and villains in the Marvel U together for one giant story, and proved so popular that a sequel was published the following year. Secret Wars is famously known as the series that introduced Spider-Man’s black costume all those years ago.

Will you be picking up the new Secret Wars next year?
