American Gladiators is getting rebooted

I guess you could call this a re-reboot, but American Gladiators is getting rebooted for a second time. The show initially made its return in 2008 for two seasons, but fell off the schedule despite a strong debut.

The new American Gladiators has been inspired by NBC’s summer success with American Ninja Warrior, and has been called “a little darker, more intense, more series” by executive producer Arthur Smith. Smith also called the reboot “post-apocalyptic”, and said that it adds elements from The Hunger Games and mixed martial arts.

When you look at all that…is this reboot going to resemble American Gladiators at all, or is it just going to have the same name? From what Brown is describing, this seems like some sort of athletic reality show that has “American Gladiators” slapped onto it. A sportsy, fighting-based version of the Hunger Games really isn’t American Gladiators at all, which was billed as a competition between “regular people” and the massively built Gladiators. This just seems like an attempt to continue to cash in on a nostalgia trip without really capturing the original spirit of what you’re trying to convince people you’re paying tribute to.

New Info on PACIFIC RIM Animated Series

https://i1.wp.com/static.squarespace.com/static/51b3dc8ee4b051b96ceb10de/t/53bee2c1e4b076716d347e3c/1405018832067/pacific-rim-gypsy-danger-sideshow-collectible-statue.jpg?w=584

Guillermo del Toro not only announced a sequel to Pacific Rim, but an animated series as well. In a recent interview with Collider, the filmmaker talks about the series and what it will entail. The series is still very early in development, but he offered up some details on the premise and the timeline saying:

“It’s a great set-up and a link between the first movie and the second movie.  It really enhances the mythology of the characters; we have cameos of characters from the first movie, but mostly it’s a new set of characters.  New jaegers, except for one or two, [and] new kaijus.  It’s really fun.”

He goes on to reveal that the show will be one long story, and not just a series of self contained episodes, which I love! I wish more American animated series would be like that. That’s why I watch anime.

“We’re going for a long arc, so the idea is to show a group of characters—we have pilots, functional jaegers, but we have all these younger characters.  I really want to explore things that are complimentary to the things that I want to explore in the second movie: drift, what drifting does to you, what is needed to drift, a lot of stuff that I think is important, but also the jaeger technology, the kaijus being evolved, ideas about the precursors—the guys that control the kaijus.  We have a lot of leeway in 13 episodes and I wanna make it sort of in the same spirit of Pacific Rim, which is the ideal audience for Pacific Rim was young—very young, 11-year-olds and so forth—but with really beautiful design and stories that make these characters interesting in a way that I found them interesting in, for example, Year Zero, the graphic novel that we did.  And I think that’s the basic thrust of the thing.”

As for where we might see the show air he says:

“Legendary is talking to a few outlets so I’d rather not disclose myself.  The way we set up The Strain was to talk to everyone, literally, on the map, and then find who’s response we sort of jibe with the most.  I think in this series, it would be great to find a place that can give it a proper presentation and can advertise the creation of the series.  So we’re open to being pleasantly surprised everywhere.”

I know  for one i would love to see an animated show!  what are your thoughts on this project?

Half of Firestorm Cast in THE FLASH

http://static.squarespace.com/static/51b3dc8ee4b051b96ceb10de/t/53bda5e3e4b0c675caa22fce/1404937738914/half-of-firestorm-cast-in-the-flash?format=500w

The CW has cast Robbie Amell in the recurring role of Ronnie Raymond, the fiance of S.T.A.R. Labs scientist Caitlin Snow in the upcoming new series The Flash. The character is also one-half of the DC Comics character Firestorm.

There’s no confirmation on if he’ll actually turn into Firestorm in the series, but I don’t see why he wouldn’t. In the comics Ronnie is fused together with his partner, and he has some of the most complex and unique powers in the DC universe. He’s able to transform matter into other elements, he’s blessed with superhuman strength, and, of course, he can fly.

The news comes from TV Line which says that in the series he will play a “S.T.A.R. Labs maintenance worker” and that he’ll be “an integral part in the particle accelerator accident that transforms Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) into the titular speedster.”

Executive producer Greg Berlanti said in a statement:

“[DC Comics Chief Creative Officer] Geoff Johns, Andrew Kreisberg and myself designed the pilot and series to include Ronnie (aka Firestorm) — and to actually have someone with Robbie’s talent playing the role is beyond exciting. We can’t wait for viewers and fans of the character to check it out.”

One other interesting bit of information about Robbie Amell is that he is the real life cousin of Arrow star Stephen Amell.

Chris Columbus To Produce THE GOONIES and GREMLINS Sequels?

http://static.squarespace.com/static/51b3dc8ee4b051b96ceb10de/t/53be19c0e4b0e900dc9ec568/1404967389055/?format=500w

There’s another rumor from The Tracking Board that has hit the web that says Harry Potter director Chris Columbus is set to produce the sequels to The Goonies and Gremlins. It was originally reported that Gremlins would be a remake, but according to /Film the film will actually be a sequel that takes place 30 years after the original film.

There has been no official confirmation of Columbus’ involvement at the moment, so we’ll treat this as a rumor for now.

Warner Bros. has been looking to get another Gremlins made for several years. The film project is currently on the fast track to production with Seth Grahame-Smith and David Katzenberg set to produce.

The Goonies sequel has also been a topic of discussion for years, but until recently it didn’t seem like it would ever happen. The original movie’s director Richard Donner is on board the project, and he is the one who basically announced the sequel was actually happening. He also said that Steven Spielberg came up with the idea for the story, and they are looking to get the original cast together to star in it.

Spielberg is, of course, expected to be involved with both of these projects as an executive producer. I personally think it will be fun to revisit these classic movies and characters in these sequels. I’m really glad that these are going to be sequels and not remakes. I don’t ever want to see these movies remade.

He worked on the original scripts for both The Goonies and Gremlins. So it makes sense that he would come on board to help in the process of bringing these sequels to life.

I know  i would like to see sequels for both films  what do you think?

Doomsday to Appear in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice?

doomsday header2

Even though there are already a number of heroes and villains populating its cast, might we be seeing another giant-sized villain appear in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice? Bleeding Cool has gotten hold of a rumor from a source who claims to have seen designs for a version of the killing machine Doomsday for the highly-anticipated film. Even though the character was teased in the bonus features on the Man of Steel Blu-ray, treat this one as a rumor for now and check back for any potential confirmation.

Created by Dan Jurgens for the 1992 event series “The Death of Superman,” Doomsday is a genetically engineered monster that has the distinction of being the character that killed Superman. He has appeared a number of other times in the comics despite perishing himself, and even took on the role of the primary antagonist for a season of “Smallville.”

Starring Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, Gal Gadot, Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne, Diane Lane, Jesse Eisenberg, Jeremy Irons, Holly Hunter and Scoot McNairy, the DC Comics film brings together the Man of Steel and the Dark Knight — for the first time on the big screen.

Directed by Zack Snyder from a script by Chris Terrio, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice arrives in theaters on May 6, 2016.

Arrow Targets Brandon Routh to Play Major DC Comics Superhero in Season 3

Brandon Routh Arrow The Atom

Brandon Routh is set to play another DC Comics super man — this time on Arrow.

The erstwhile Man of Steel is joining the CW hit’s third season in the recurring role of Ray Palmer, aka DC superhero The Atom, TVLine has learned exclusively.

An unparalleled scientist and inventor, Ray will play an unexpected role in the lives of Oliver and (rumored love interest) Felicity as the new owner of Queen Consolidated. Palmer’s plans for Queen Consolidated’s Applied Sciences Division will be shrouded in mystery.

In addition to his myriad comic book appearances, Ray/The Atom — who can alter the size of his body as well as Brandon Routh Arrow The Atomother objects — has turned up in numerous animated series, including, most recently, Cartoon Network’s Young Justice. Arrow marks one of the character’s rare live-action incarnations.

Déjà vu watch: Although The Atom isn’t able to fly like Superman, he can simulate flight a la Wonder Woman.
